I met Sid Bell in 1991 the year after he was feathered on the New York State Muzzle Loading stamp hunted and corresponded with him until he passed about four or five years ago. Turned out his clan had become a sect clan of my mine about a thousand years ago he told me. At this site http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=95217540 I was given a belt buckle he made, a self portrait of Sid facing profile. I also have pictures of Sid sitting in the deer camp with a whole spread of his work on the table. Shots of his .45 flintlock which he made by hand from scratch except for the Green Mountain barrel and Sid and I jut standing in front of camp in the Adirondacks. I will try to find out more as to the whereabouts of his collection. I know he had contracts to make butt plates and pistol caps for Browning, Remington, Winchester and Weatherby. Many things determine the value of your gun. Serial #48736 falls in the serial numbers 46628-61609 which states that your gun was made in 1901. I have read somewhere that 16ga. are worth quite a bit more than the rest of the gauges

Its value is primarily as a mantle decoration. It could be worth anywhere from $25 if rusted or busted up to $250 in nearly new condition.

Current value would probably be somewhere between $125 and $175, depending on which Model 49 it is (Saddlegun, Youth, Magnum, Deluxe, or Presentation. Don't recall original price, but suspect it was around $50. The Model 49R (repeater) was $59.99 in 1969.

It's a Lewis or NIG model, built in 1903. Value is from $50.00 for a wallhanger to $1000.00 or more for one in new condition.

According to a table in "Ithaca Gun Company from the Beginning" it was made in 1901.

The mfg. suggested retail is around $1350 or even a tad higher, but a gun in "new" condition (read "unfired") would likely have a real world value of $850 to $950. That is what a gun dealer in the Dakota's, for instance, may ask for a brand new Brittany. If one were to advertise in a newspaper classifed section, one might get that much, but folks usually seek some kind of a bargin outside of true retail setting. Therefore, I'd ask $750 for an unfired gun, and go downward from there, depending on the condition of the gun (if it has been used). You may want to consult the Blue Book of Gun Values for the increments of used gun pricing for this model. The gun is a wonderfully durable and verstile model, mfg by one of Spains most solid and prolific manufacturer of double guns, Hermanos Zabala, and is imported by Tristar. Tony Petres Rapid City SD

Google RST Manuals. I recently bought one for my Ithaca/SKB XL300 for about $7.00. It is a factory re-print and taught me everything I needed to know. They were very good to deal with.

Ithaca Century Trap was mfg. by SKB (Japan) 1973 & 1976, for Ithaca. 32" or 34" barrels, full choke. VR rib, engraved receiver, auto ejector and checkered walnut stock.

On gunshop.com's list of high-grades it appears to fall in around 1890...but this is vague. You can also get into a forum at doubleguns.com and you'll find an incredibly vast source of information from those guys.Good luck! ==New Answer == Looks like it was made in 1906

The Spencer Gun Co. made guns for Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. of Chicago, Il. These guns were actually manufactured by the Crescent Fire Arms Co. of Norwich, Connecticut from about 1892 to 1922 with "Spencer Gun Co" as a brand name. They were good quality insexpensive single and double barrel shotguns. This is not to be confused with the Spencer rifle fo Civil War fame which was manufactured by the Burnside Rifle Co in 1865 or the later Spencer Arms Co. of Windsor, Connecticut who manufactured the first successful slide action repeating shotgun from 1882 to 1889.

Try Bas pro shops or Cabelas. They have a pretty good selection of recoil pads. Also a gunsmith can usually help you out.
