If the engine turns over (Cranks) it's fairly safe to assume that the battery and starter motor are fine. Internal combustion engines need three things to work. Compression, ignition, and fuel. Any one of which will cause trouble. Way too many variables to have a simple answer, given the information given! Good luck!

What are some problem of a 1993 Lincoln Continental?

A few of the problems I have with my 93' Continental is mainly with the digital gauges. It gives me a low oil pressure warning light when there is not really low oil pressure. That and I get a "check DCL" warning light all the time. There is no way that I know of to fix these problems but, I took out the warning buzzer cause it would constantly go off while I was driving it and it started driving me crazy. Another problem you might have is with the air ride suspension if it still has it. You will blow the bags all the time. If you have any questions I have a repair manual for this car so don't hesitate to ask and I will help you with what I can.

What is wrong with a 1994 Ford Tempo if it sputters like it wants to stall when you are at a stoplight and the RPM gauge goes crazy?

When I've had that problem it has always been one of two things. 1) TP (Throttle Position) sensor or 2) Air flow sensor. Both typically being over $150 if taken to a mechanic. Hope this helped.

If you remove the Air Flow Sensor (Takes a special star shaped socket with a hole in it) and remove the top cover of the Air Flow Sensor and clean it off by spraying it with electrical cleaner till it is a shiny silver again. that may take care of the problem also. After I did this on my 92 Tempo, it ran like new! There is a O-ring seal that you have to be careful not to damage. When you tighten the cover back down, just snug it up good - don't over-tighten it. The Air Flow Sensor lets the engine know how much air is coming in so it can increase the amount of fuel that is being sprayed into the throttle body. I am not sure what you mean by the RPM's going crazy? Is it like the engine surges? You could also possibly have a vacuum leak somewhere.

AnswerThere is a vacuum hose on the left side of the engine towards the rear. Make sure both ends are plugged in. It can get disconnected while working on the engine, and it can pull itself out. It will cause your problem.

Where is the coolant system sensoron a 1994 Lincoln 3.8 continental?

Just to the left of the thermostat housing , with a black 1 inch hose running to it ! Remove the black wiring harness , grab a wrench and unscrew the coolant temp. sensor , replace ! If it's not the sensor , it may be your head gasquet and replacing the sensor won't be of any assistance if you're seeking to stop the ever incessant beeping which comes in 5 second intervals - that little piece of equipment is electrical and can be found beneath the dash to the right of the steering column , just above the gas pedal ( removing that portion of the dash surrounding the underside of the steering column - a black box with a tan colored connector running into it , pull that out (a little difficult but it'll come ) - course that controls all audible signals including door chime etc. ! But , you'll finally have peace !!!!!!

How do you change the alternator in a 1994 Lincoln Continental?

Re: replacing a 95 alternator (Same for 94?) ---- It's a bit awkward to work in there, espesially on the front of the engine but you are correct, the Alternator is one of the top end components with only two things in the way....

The Power steering fluid Reservoir and the Coolant Recovery Bottle need to be dis-mounted and set aside.

The Alternator is 'solid mounted' meaning is not on a pivot mount for belt adjustment. The belt is the serpentine, single belt with a separate tensioner.

There is one solid mount bracket on the top of the Alternator that gets completely removed, then two more bolts from the lower end of the Alternator to the front of the engine.

Wires disconnect, and it's out..

Reverse all that and it's back in

Why would a 1989 Lincoln Continential JBL sound system be getting power to the radio but not the CD player if you already checked the amp and changed the fuse?

Most car stereos have an internal switch to change the power supplyfrom the tuner section to the cassette or disc motors and (maybe) preamp. Should be aligned so that inserting the disc trips the switch. The switch iseither a small box with a "lever" that depresses a button or an optical sensor. If the switch is mechanical it WILL need to be replaced.

New AnswerMost 1989 Lincoln systems have AM/FM Cassette head unit with separate CD player (either CD changer or single play unit). The CD player is connected to the head unit by a multi-pin cable. Check cable connection behind both radio and CD player
