Engines for the 86-89 B2000 and 86-93 B2200 are bolt in swaps. The short block from the 1st gen Ford Probe, and the 88-92 626 and MX-6 is the same, just bolt on you're cylinder head and accessories. Although I believe the B2600i has the same engine mounts the bell housing does not match and is not easily swapped.

Because unlike Toyota, they only offer 5 models to the public. In the 90's they did not offer the same products as in other countries. In other countries they offer a very nice 4 door pickup L200 and a minivan L300. They discontinued the Montero and never offered a 2-door montero that was available all over the world. The Lancer was not the same Lancer offered around the world, and the Galant has been watered down for the American market. The dealers in the US are not the greatest either.

Open the hood. Stand directly in front of the radiator. Look for the top hose coming out of the radiator and going into the engine cylinder head. The hose should be attached, with a clamp, to an aluminum housing on the head. This housing should have a little sensor with a wire. (Black with a yellow stripe if I remember correctly-maybe not) This is the ECT. The part it is fastened to contains the thermostat. Hope this helps.

The parts store is asking you if you want your new compressor to have the clutch already on it or do you want to install one yourself. They all have clutches on them and they are most times quite difficult to remove so I would say get the one with the clutch on and avoid the headaches.

You must remove the cam belt on the LHS (facing forward) of the engine. This involves removing the alternator, dip stick and perhaps you will need to move the AC compressor and belt to make room too.

Then there is a plastic cam belt top cover to remove followed by the crankshaft belt master pulley. That will be difficult as the engine will turn.

Then there is the cam belt lower cover and in there behind an idler pulley is the water pump. Easy !! :-)

I am not sure about your car but I would think that most serpentine belt systems are somewhat the same where you should have a spring loaded tensioner pulley and all you would have to do is get a breaker bar or even using you hands to lift up the tensioner pulley enough to just slide the belt off and installation is reverse of removal, don't forget to note the belt routing or you would have to get a diagram to put it back on. I am telling you this from my experience with my 1988 2.5liter Chevy. I am not sure how complicated your setup is but I would imagine it shouldn't be too bad. I find getting a Haynes or Chilton's Manual for my vehicles has saved me from having to go to the mechanic for a few minor and major problems. Cheers!
