Where's the EGR valve located on a 2001 Montero Sport?
What size sub woofer is in the 2001 Montero?
It's a 6" (or 6.5") subwoofer and is amplified with the built in Infinity amplifier. It seems to me that I read it is a non-standard size and is difficult to replace. If you want more bass you should probably get an aftermarket amp and sub. The stereo is proprietary too so you will probably need to replace the CD player if you do, that's what I did. Best buy or another car stereo place can hook you up with the wiring kit for it.
If you cannot find the code either written down in your owner's manual or on a small card, then you have to get the serial # off the radio. With this serial # the dealer can provide you with the code. The serial # is more than likely located on the back of the radio. You may possibly be able to use a dental mirror to see it without removing the radio. The radio does not need fixing. It just needs the code to operate.
AnswerTo get to the serial number - First remove the consul by removing the two screws located underneath the radio. Just go to the edges of the radio and follow it down going underneath the dash. You will need a small Philips head as there isn't much clearance especially on the left side. You can then pull away the plastic exposing the radio itself. The serial number is right there on the left. How do I replace a 1995 Pajero fanbelt?
If you mean the multi rib serpentine belt then you must loosen the center lock bolt on the tensioner and turn the adjuster bolt (accessible from underneath after splash-plate removed) until the belt gets loose enough to slip off of the Alternator pully.
Then work it off the water pump etc. Note that you may have to remove the power steering and/or AC belt(s) first to get the serpentine belt fully off and back on.
You can slip the belt into the gap between any two fan blades and then turn the fan to "cut" the belt out from behind it. Install using the reverse of that technique. Note : make sure the new belt has the same number of ribs on it that the old belt had.
When you retension the serpentine belt you must first snug the center lock bolt down lightly, then back it off 1/4 turn, before adjusting the tensioner bolt (otherwise, the final tightening of a very loose lock bolt will cause the tensioning pully to move even further and ruin your adjustment).
The serpentine belt should be retensioned after a few hundred miles and should be tight enough to prevent any slippage/noise from the Alternator pully immediately after startup.
Good luck.

What is the firing order for a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero 3.0L V6?
I found it hard to believe, but a couple of sources say it is 1-2-3-4-5-6; the even numbers are in the 'right' bank.
AnswerMy 1993 Montero 3.0L V6 is...1,2,3,4,5,6 and only holds 4.5 Qts of Oil. Crazy car builders.A2
I agree. From the Hynes manual OWM1944. The firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6.
Standing with the hood open and facing into the engine compartment, the uneven numbered cylinders are on your left and the even on the right.
Number one, is the one on the left nearest you and fires left, right, left right etc from the front of the engine to the back.
What is the screeching sound when you press the clutch on a 97 Montero Sport?
Your throw-out bearing has went bad in the clutch assembly. You will have to replace the bearing. Inquire about a throw-out bearing at your local auto-parts store. It is a good rule of thumb that if you're going to dissasemble the clutch assembly, you should replace the clutch, and pressure plate too! When clutch-assy has been removed, check the fly-wheel for scarring on its face where the clutch assembly was once attached. The face should be smooth, and the fly-wheel should NOT be warped, pitted, or damaged! If it is, replace it before you put a brand new clutch assembly back onto the vehicle. Is the Mitsubishi Montero good for offroad driving?
The Mitsubishi Montero is okay for offroad driving. It is by no means even close to being ideal for it. You're better off looking for a well equipped American built 4x4 Truck.
What does the center differential on a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero do?
In a conventional 2-wheel drive vehicle the tires on one side of the car turn at a different rate (rpm) than the tires on the other side (unless the vehicle is traveling in a perfectly straight line on a perfectly flat surface with no cross-wind etc). The differential allows the power going to the rear wheels to "adjust" itself to the difference in rpm of the rear wheels. In a 4-wheel drive it is the same with the exception that there are 3 differentials required, front, rear, and center. Just as the front and rear differential adjust the power flow side to side the center differential adjusts the power flow front to back. Without these differentials (IE with a direct connection side to side and front to back) the power train would tear up the slow tires spinning them at the same speed that the faster tires are going, and potentially damage the drive train itself due to this excessive loading . Hope this helped ,

My 2001 Mitsu Monty Sport also had the HOLD light come on. What does it mean? I'm afraid to call Mitsu because every visit somehow costs >$1000! Press the button on the dashboard "A/T Mode" changeover switch, which switches the driving mode between Normal and Hold. From the Owner's Manual: "Select the "HOLD" mode when starting your vehicle on a road surface slippery from snow or the like, and the vehicle will start smoothly...other than "L" position, the vehicle starts in second gear." BTW, red brake light is probably the emergency brake light switch, which might just need cleaning or adjustment.

Your Montero Sport 2001 has a light on that says HOLD what does this mean?
This information can be found in your owner's manual. Don't have one get one. Dealer or salvage yard is a source. That just means that the transmission is in AT mode, press the "AT mode" button on the dash and it will magically disappear. what does AT mode do? it statr your xnsmission on second gear. why? to waist more gas. The HOLD(AT) mode is useful when you are driving on wet/slick paved roads keeps me from burning out when the car hops from first to second gear. I use 4WD when I am on gravel roads to do the same thing. Just don't use 4WD on pavement its not good for your SUV.
