I just replaced the starter on my 1998 200sx SE-R. You have to remove the intake manifold, and you will see it right under/behind there. You may as well replace the knock sensor while you are in there. About a 2 hour job altogether.
its under the intake and i would wipe it down with a rag if it needs it you might have to clean the line though
look where the hood release latch is (left of the steering wheel, below dash) just above that is a square section on the lower part of the dash. It has a handle and can be pulled off quite easily. Your fuses are contained therin and attached to the backside of the peice you pulled off will be a fuse puller, extra fuses and a fuse diagram.
First, why was the battery replaced? If there was a pre-existing problem (like a bad starter, for example), replacing the battery will not solve the problem. If, however, the car started fine before battery replacement, then the problem could be that the battery terminals (clamps) were not sufficiently tightened. Don't laugh, but there have been instances where the plastic cap(s) covering the new battery's positive and negative terminals were not removed (duh!). Remove those plastic caps.
Yes get either a premade swap harness or take a sr harness and try doing it yourself.
Yes, many people have done this. Whether it's a 1.6 or 2.0 it can handle a turbo. If you have high mileage you may want to have some checks done on your motor first. TSI still sells a turbo kit for the 1.6
Why would you need to remove the gears unless they are broken? I hope you're not trying to take them off to replace the timing belt!
If you need to get them off, you need to keep in mind that they are pressed onto the cams... There are a few bolts, but you'll also need a pulley or gear removal tool. (Check your local auto superstore)
Be careful! Without the gears on, even though the cam is keyed to the gear, if you spin the cam, you could completely screw up the timing... I believe that Mazda engine in your contour is a zero-clearance engine, which means if you were 180 degrees off with one of your cams and started the engine, the valves would smash into the pistons and cause you a world of headaches.
Any car that has to go uphill requires more effort than on a flat surface or downhill. Mainly because uphill is steeper (in an up direction) which also pushes against gravity.
over a long period of time any gasoline will cause gunk in you system. but don't run out to buy their gasoline yet because all gasoline companies put additive in their gasolines to help keep your system clean. that gunk takes years to build up.good vehicle maintenance will prevent that.
I think your car has a carbruator and the problem is with the auto choke. Have someone look at it that is familiar with them.
Right in front of the oil pan (2.8l) Disconnect the battery before getting a wrench close to the starter. The starter has a HOT battery cable runnign directly to it. Shorting this to the frame with a wrench might start a fire, blow up your battery, or both.
The question you ask is too involved for a proper answer. You may want to go to a car parts store, or book store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.
95 200sx Nissan 1.6l timing chain marks? The haynes manual diagram sucks
top of tranny near firewall kinda centered
If the water pump is bad ussually the heater will stop giving hot air .
simply take out the alarm relay found under the hood.!
GL-4 80/90 if it's a 5spd. As for the brand not sure. All of them are good as long as you use the GL-4.Try Autozone and advance auto.
You should be able to find a shop manual at your local library with diagnostics and specs -- make copies of the right sections as they are usually only available in the REFERENCE section...good luck :)
I have a 1995 200SX and when I bought spark plugs they were pregapped. Shouldnt have to gap them. I put NGK iridium spark plugs in and k&n air filter and my fuel economy is excellent for an older car! edit: Sparkplug gap should be .44
