There should be a t handled socket in the trunk or glove box, pry off the emblem in the middle of the hub cap and use this socket to un screw the captive bolt recessed in the center. when the bolt is loose( it will not fall out) pry off the hubcap like any other

Mine would cut out while driving, then start right back up, at first. I have a series II 3.8 liter. The MAF sensor is located under the plastic cover for the engin. You have to take the oil fill cap and neck off to lift the cover off. Once the cover is removed, the MAF sensor can be seen at the top and to the left of the engin. it is a small square box that has a three wire plug in and two vacume lines going to it. Ceck to see if the wire connections are ok before you replace the sensor. Good luck.

In the old CCC system (pre ODB-II) GM code 42 is EST (Electronic Spark Timing) fault. The HEI module in the distributor could be bad, or there could be a wiring or computer problem. When setting timing on these older cars, you disconnect the four wire connector to the distributor. Did you hook it back up? Is the code active or stored? Try resseting the computer.
