How do you prepare an outline paper?
A paragraph outline or plan is just a list of what you're going to write in your paragraph.
You don't have to make complete sentences for this, because you are just doing an outline to plan out what to write.
It looks basically like the following:
- First Support Sentence
- Detail for first support sentence
- Detail for first support sentence'
- (however many details you have for the first sentence)
- Second Support Sentence
- Detail for second sentence
- (etc, etc until you have all your facts written in outline form)
Once you have an idea of what to do, then just make each of your lines into a complete sentence, check for punctuation and grammar, and you've got your paragraph!

Do they already know or is this your way of telling them? It all depends on you and your relationship to them. Personally I wouldn't make it the focus of the card. I would write whatever you would normally write with the addition of your bad news. It depends how serious things were to cause the problem. It looks like it's going to be up to you to communicate. It's difficult for two different individuals to live together and there is bound to be some disagreements. It's a marriage in a way between two people as far as getting along. If you did something wrong then apologize (if you didn't) then sit down with your flat mate and tell them that there has to be a better way to get along. Ask them if they'll sit down and you each make up a list of the things you don't like about each other and then switch lists. DON'T ARGUE! Then each of you should try to better themselves in this area. It could be something as simple as leaving the top off the toothpaste or as serious as one mate stealing anothers date. Perhaps one has too many dates coming home with them and the other doesn't like it, or one is doing all the cleaning up and grocery shopping while the other sits on their butt doing nothing. Set up a schedule. When I was young and living in an apartment with a girlfriend we had a set of rules and if one of us wanted to bring a date home we talked about it a couple of days before and one of us would stay away from the apartment for a reasonable amount of time.
