need more information........... will it crank over? if not does it make a clicking sound? do the lights on the dash light up when the key is on? is it a turbo or non turbo? if it is a turbo watch the factory boost gauge when the key is on does it lay at zero? if not it is leaking caps in the computer or if the boost gauge flickers, there is a lot of great information for your 1st gen dsm at Vfaq.com including mods and all of the bugs these cars have i own 2 talons and a laser vfaq.com helped me a lot plus its free if it is still up and running , also if yours is the 2.0 turbo or none turbo, check to make sure you didn't break a timing belt very costly if you did, but easy to check for, just open the oil fill cap and with safety glasses on have someone crank the car over while you watch for the cams and rockers for movement, if they are not moving you have big costly problems the most common no start problem with the dsm's are poor grounds, faulty ecu caps, maf sensor, fuel pump wiring, clutch safety switch if applies, crank sensor, camshaft sensor at top of valve cover " looks like a distributor with out wires", oil filled spark plug holes due to faulty valve cover gasket, oil soaked plug wires, faulty coil pack very common to find them cracked open and shorted and a pain to get to requires removal of the fuel rail in the 2.0 engines, i believe that with your year you can do the key cycle on off on off on off on and get blink codes from the check engine light that will be very helpful. if not search vfaq.com on how to retrieve the codes with a analog volt meter, hope this helps some but we really need more information about you car is it a 1.8 , 2.0, non turbo, 2.0 turbo,? and more details about what the car is doing eg cranks over wont start? wont crank over etc?

1994 Plymouth Laser was not made firing order is 1 3 4 2 for the 1.8L engine

I have a 1992 Plymouth Laser RS 2.0 and the EFI (fuel pump relay) is located under the console to the right and bottom of the ECU as your sitting in the drivers seat. You need a timing light

The best place to find the diagram for the fuse box on a 1990 Plymouth Laser would be at the local Chrysler dealer. They carry archived manuals and diagrams going back many years.

For the Ford KC laser, the 1.6L motor is 2degrees BTDC for both the EFI and carby motors, while the 1.3L is 6degrees BTDC.

For the 1.6L EFI engine, you need to plug the distributor vacuum line, not for any of the others.

my 6 bolt is 4321 with the 1 being on the drivers side.

You need to remove the air filter and disconnect the electrical connector from the meter. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the screws that retain the air flow meter to the air cleaner housing. Istallation is reverse.

It can damage the valves i don't think it would damage the head though

Yes it can if the engine was spinning at a high rate. The valves can break off and tumble around causing severe damage. I used to have a piston with all 4 valves from that cyl. sticking in it !

fuel pressure regulator is on the right end of the rail.

Try tightening the mounting bolt on the idler and/or tensioning pullies. This did the trick for a persistent squeek on my 93' Jeep Wrangler.

On some cars, the idler pulley {usually on the belt tensioner) can squeal. If you squirt some WD-40 or similar lubricant on the front of the bearing (engine off), and the noise goes away, it is probably the bearings in the idler pulley. If this is the case, replace the idler pulley, because the noise will come back after the lubricant gets slung out of the bearing.

I also have a Plymouth laser, I had the same problem and tryed the same things. If the above answers don't seem to work, look at the water pump. In the water pump there are ball bearings the keep it spinning smoothly and when the casing of the bearings give way, the bearings no longer glide over the surface, instead they bunch up and rub against the back of the pulley. If this is the case, you will be able to see the bearings behind the pulley.

Yeah that is most likely the problem. When you change the starter, have someone rotate the dampner pully with a socket/ratchet and look carefully at the flywheel for any teeth missing. If teeth are broken off you will chew up more starters and cause more damage to the flywheel. Also make sure all the pieces of the broken starter are out of the space it occupies and there are no peces sitting in the bell housing. If they were to bounce up while in motion it could cause damage.

If your looking to hook up a Air/fuel gauge it's a waste unless you get a wideband, Because other wise you get a really pretty rainbow.

its either on the left side of the stearing wheel theres a little dail with a light on it its the bottem one turn that one or if you look on on your roof inside your car in between the sun visers theres a spot with 3 buttons the left on turns on ur inteiror light the middle on turns on ur light when u open the door or your hatch and fades away automaticly when your hatch closes and the far right button turns the light off.........

If you are looking at the motor, the injectors run down the backside of the valve cover. There will be a long tubular thing with a fuel line coming to it. That is the fuel rail. The injectors are below the fuel rail and are bolted down via the fuel rail. They will have a wire connection to each injector. If you are going to be taking them off, you will need to depressurize the fuel system. Any other questions, feel free to leave me a message.

The fuel pump fuse on a 1991 Plymouth Laser is located in the engine compartment's fuse box. It prevents the fuel pump from being damaged by an electrical surge.

there's two in between the tach console an air conditioner console under the trim

then two under the trim between the tranny console an air conditioner it's easier to take off if you take the tach console off to

yes,its called the tcu and its located between the drivers and passengers feet area,remove the side covers [2 screws] and you can see it easily.

remove you battery box and right below ur intake u will see a wire running to a bolt remove that bolt and the bolt below that and you will have to go underneath the car to get the starter out
