Check the allignment of all the pully's.

the fuel pump in a 91 playmuoth laser is inside the fuel tank. you have to drop the fuel tank and remove the wiring, and pull it out. you might want to check wiring and fuses and reley first tho, i just replaced mine and the realy broke. but if so its a big job. 2+ ppl

What you have to do is, like the above said, is drop the tank. You don't have enough room to work when it's on the car.There are two straps running parallel to each other, there are 4 bolts, 2 in front and 2 in back, you will need a deepwell 14mm or 9/16 socket to remove the bolts.The pump has one connection and it easily disconnects. And don't forget to remove all the lines including the filler hose,vent tube,fuel line to the pump,the return line and the line to the motor on the front of the tank. When it's out, the screw's holding the fuel pump to the tank are Philips head, the dumbest design, anyway, if you can't get them off, you will need to chisell them off and remove the studs with a pair of visegrips.When you get new bolts, I recommend bolts you can use a socket on. It also would be best to get brass bolts and only get them as long as your previous one's. When the bolts are off, many people think the pump just comes out. In many cases yes, but another design flaw, you will need to try and push the bottom of the pump back into the tank. I know, sounds rediculous, but there is a rubber at the bottom of the tank that keeps the pump in place and no matter how hard you pull, it's not coming out, I learned the hard way. At the bottom of the pump, it slides out from under the rubber and the pump comes right out. Instalation is the reverse of removal. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. SENSOR not center. It reads the revolutions of the crank shaft to tell the computer how fast it's spinning.

there's two fuse boxes, one on the passenger side and one on the driver side looking at the front of the car. I believe its in the fuse box on the driver side, if not refer to a manual or the fuse box should say on it.

you have to pull the stereo its located underneath the center console of the shifter.

Ther are three different engine configurations used on the 1990 prizm. Check a repair manual such as Haynes. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time a manual would be a good investment.

there is no dip stick its a bolt on the bottom of the tranny

If your asking how to replace one I recommend you get someone to take care of it who knows what there doing because it's a pain

there are three 3screws in the panel one under the lock switch one at the front on the bottom under "cap" the door pull handle HAS to come out before panel will come off it snaps out of panel then remove handle of mirror aduster and that cover pop the clips and done

I figured it out once my car broke down. I did some research and found out that there is a capacitor inside the computer(behind the radio) that is notorious for bursting as spilling its acidic contents all over everything making random things go wrong.For example a light popped up next to where the 'check engine' light is located, that looks like a 'gazebo' that means that the computer is bad. I also wasn't getting any spark from the brand new plugs. Prior to the breakdown my car also would't start easy, it seemed as if the car wouldn't start if the inside of the car was warm you would have to air it out to start it. The computer swap fixed everything that was wrong, even down to my right headlight not raising up the whole way and the lights not coming on inside and out. My sugestion is that you just find another 91 laser for $200-$300 on eBay versus buying a new one for a little over $400 and a used one around $325 at most junkyards. All it is, is a gold box behind the radio system there is 2 bolts to take off on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger side. Take them out un-plug 3 wires, spin it and take it out the passenger floor. Also if you pop the little clips that hold on the carpet there's a screw you can take out so you don't break anything.

While looking under the hood the automatic transmission dipstick is to the left and down. It has a white ball shaped handle, about the size of a marble. You have to reach underneath the air intake to get to it.
