How do you adjust the headlights on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am?
i had a problem with my 99 grand am...the lights were pointing at each other towards the ground about 10 feet in front of the car...there should be several screws above or behind the headlights on either side...take it out on a road at night and have someone sit in the car while u adjust the lights with a screwdriver but be easy because the plastic piece that surrounds the headlights break easily.

I have a 99 Grand Am with the exact problem. I was told it was the "modulator" which costs like a thousand bucks to fix. Because it is electrical I wouldn't recommend you trying to repair it yourself! Good luck

You buy a headlight at any basic auto parts shop they will have your make and model in a database with the size you need. Its not a small bulb within the plastic the large light about the size of your hand is the bulb.
Open your top.
Unplug the bulb, its like unplugging a wall socket.
Unscrew the three screws around on the silver rim. The 2001 Wrangler Sahara uses a small "Torq" screw driver.
Srew out the setting behing the silver rim.
Push out the bulb into your engine reach around take it out.
Place new bulb in and hook it up so it stays attached when screwing everything back into place.
Screw everything into place.
What is the price of a water pump for a 2000 Pontiac grand am?
When I replaced mine a few months ago cost me about 40 bucks or so. Put it in myself. Got thbe pump from Autozone. I think they had lower quality cheaper ones but now you have a number.
How to change water-pump on a 1994 Pontiac grand am 3.1L?
The water pump is behind the smooth pulley up top closest to the front of the car.
1) Warm engine fully.
2) Stop engine.
3) Drain coolant.
4) Slightly loosen water pump pulley bolts. If necessary, us a long open-end wrench on one bolt (2 mm larger than correct size) to hold the pulley from turning while using a correctly fitting 6-point socket to loosen another bolt.
5) Loosen the belt tensioner and remove the belt.
6) Unbolt and remove the water pump.
7) Use scotch-brite to remove any old gasket material.
8) Position new pump and gasket in place and install the (five?) bolts.
9) Position pulley in place and snug up four bolts.
10) Reinstall belt and tighten pulley bolts fully.
11) Fill cooling system. You should use a vacuum type fill tool if available, otherwise be sure to remember to open the bleeders.
the voltage "persay" comes from the ecu(computer) i would not use a test light to see if voltage is present thay can be intrusive and short the ecu u will need a dvom meter and service manual to test that circut

How do you reset the anti-theft system on a 97 Pontiac Grand Am SE?
you can reset the theft system by placing your key in the ignition and turning it forward until the power comes on. The theft light will start blinking, do not attempt to start the car until the light has stopped blinking. this takes 10 minutes. It's a pain if you are waiting in a parking lot in the middle of winter but it beats taking a cab home.
If you are unsure if you theft system has been trigger the symptom is that your gas is shut off as soon as you start the car so your car will start but only for a second. This seems to be a problem with people installing auto-start systems. I have yet to find a way to bypass this system altogether.
Answeri have by passed the anti theft with my auto start by placeing a blank key in the ignition i learned this some time ago when this happened to me it works try it i also get the blank with the black head that way noone sees and my car starts in - 40How do you bleed the clutch on 1997 Pontiac Grand Am?
Loosen the bleed screw next to the entry point on the transmission, open the clutch master cylinder (drivers' side rear corner of the engine bay), and let it bleed. It's helpful to use a hose over the bleed screw that goes into a bottle so you can watch for bubbles. Keep an eye on the fluid level as it should drop fast. Don't pump the clutch or hold it down. The bleeding is supposed to just happen with gravity. Good luck

How do you install a RPM gauge on a 1994 grand am?
hmmm... to be absolutely sure I have to check under the hood. But for right now, from the top of my head ... here's what you look for. Locate the ignition coil packs. Its where your spark plug wires connect to (not the spark plug end - the other end). To be absolutely sure there are three of them and each coil fires two cylinders (plugs). Now look carefully where these coils are sitting (its the same plate they are connected to) - that's your ECM module. Now on the left side of the engine (if you're facing the car its your right side - driver side) you shoud see 2 wire harnesses/plugs that are connected to the ECM module. Find the one with 5 (five) wires in it. The middle wire and I believe its white in color, is the tach wire. Just get a tap from that wire and you're good to go. Of course the rest (buying a Tach o meter and finding positive wire and ground) I'm expecting you to able to by yourself!!!
How to replace timing chain in a 1993 grand am 4 quad engene?
Well the book says to support engine and take off cover. but you have to take the motor mount off, from car and engine(3 bolts on engine) probably wont be able to get them off. So instead of beating your head and fighting it, Pull the engine would be easier, I just did one and that was beat way. Chiltons manual would be good to have on hand. good luck

What is ticking sound in 2002 grand am?
well it could be a number of things. assuming it's coming from the engine.... it's more than likely a valve or your timing chain and the associated components are getting worn out. witch would also result in ticking valves. especially if it has over 100k and the chain has never been replaced. first thing i would try is give it a fresh oil change and sub out one quart of oil for Lucas motor oil. it does miracle's! the best oil i have found id Valvoline max life synthetic blend. it's only $15 bucks at wal-mart and it's one of the best out there. especially for the price. If you find this doesn't help then it's back to the timing chain. If you aren't able to do the work yourself it'll be pretty costly. even if you do it's not cheap. I let my chain go and i ended up having to get a whole new motor!! once the chain goes the motor is worthless!! keep in mind that most repair shops do free estimates. Doesn't hurt to have a pro look at it! good luck!
