How do you build a trolley car?

If you're building a small trolley car (or tram), get a model vehicle kit or a model railroader's kit. And they can be scratch built with incredible results. But if you want to build a "real" trolley car, and it's "full sized" for serious operation, it may be cheaper to buy a used one somewhere and fix it up. Even that (the fixing) could be horrendously expensive. Just ask the guys in Denver working on their project trolley. But, if you want to build one from scratch, you'll have your hands full. Very full. Ever build a railroad car? It's the same thing multiplied by a factor of ten because instead of wheels with axles, you'll be mounting traction motors under the trolley. (Trolley, by the way, is the little thingie on the end of the pole on top of the car that picks up the power from the wire.) The traction motors are built directly onto the axles of the wheels, and are just big (!) electric motors that weigh tons. You'll need some switchgear to control the speed and direction of the machine, too. This is gonna be a project and a half. You may be able to adapt something off a light rail vehicle, but it's gonna take some uptown engineering. If this sounds like you, go for it. You'll need contacts. A number of urban settings still have a trolley line working. Start searching the web. Whether or not they have old equipment for sale or not is something that each one would have to be asked individually, probably. So ask. If they don't have any, ask if they know who might. There are a ton of trolley systems operated in urban areas overseas. Can you travel? Bring a trolley back on a cargo ship? Anything you get you'll have to move. Even if you get it in Canada. (There are trolley systems there.) There are many rail historical societies across the U.S. Some are devoted to local urban rail systems, the trolley crowd. Find some and look at what they're doing. Your best bet is still to look around in the various large urban settings that had streetcar lines and see if any of the old coaches are lying around somewhere. There are still some about, but they'll be tough to find (if they haven't been turned into diners and such). You can probably get one for a song, but you'll have to move it. And they weigh many tons. (How do you think they maintain traction with a steel wheel meeting a steel track in a tiny surface area? Weight. Tons of it. That's why locomotives and trains like this are called traction engines....) Oh, and notice that none of this addresses how you'll operate the thing without tracks to run on or overhead wires to power up the trolley. A few links are provided to get you started. Lots of model railroad clubs have information on the full-sized equipments. And there are lots of them around. Start there. Good luck.

Is there any way of buying a car if you have a repossesion on your credit report?

It really depends on how old it is. If it's recent (less than 5 or 6 years) you probably won't get financing. If you do the interest rate will be extremely high. Having a cosigner with excellent credit will probably help, but you will still pay a high rate. Pull your credit scores and see what they are...anything over 600 with a cosigner you'll be all right..anything less forget it. I'd try to find a good used car and pay cash. Pay all your bills on time and keep your credit balances low and your score will rise quickly. Then you'll be in a better position to get financed.

Can a used car dealer sell a car with a defect?

it depends on the seriousness of the defect. A blown carburetor has to be,(not legally but if you want to sell it to anyone), replaced, a ding might be hamerd out but dosent have to be.

A used car dealer can sell a car with almost any defect that is not a safety or emissions defect. They can sell the car with the engine missing if they disclose this to the buyer. Almost any used car will have some sort of defect. The criteria is that the car must be serviceable at the time, and all safety and emissions equipment must be in working order, unless otherwise stated. In other words it must do what a car does. Get you from point A to point B. Other than that all used cars are sold, "AS IS" unless otherwise stated in writing that there is a warranty. Get any car you plan on purchasing inspected by a trusted mechanic before you make the deal.

What if someone buys a car for you and your name is on the title and a few months later they try to take it back or take you to court to get it back because they paid for it can they take it from me?

If you didn't pay them back, yes

---------------------------------------

Added 5/16/12 - If it truly was a "gift" & they want to take it back, I would suggest letting them take you to court to let a judge decide. Gather as much evidence as you can that they gifted it without expectation of repayment. Dig through emails, facebook or text messages... anything with a date/time stamp works wonders, but it needs to be something regarding the instance when they helped you get a car, including how it got transferred to your name. A judge may take this into consideration... YOUR name is on the title & if the title does not have THEIR name in the section for LIEN HOLDER, then the judge may have reason to believe it was, in fact, a gift.

What legal procedure do you need to go through if you have been involved in a car wreck with an uninsured motorist?

File with your insurance company first off, if you do not have collision coverage, then you may need to file a state report, get a judgment etc. If you would like to give me more details I could be of greater assistance to you.

When passing pawn can you passing pawn attack to another attack?

The move "en passant" (meaning "in passing") can be made when one player's pawn moves two squares forwards onto a square directly adjacent an enemy pawn. The enemy pawn can now capture as if the first pawn had only moved one square, and then it is the first player's turn again.

What is the commercial vehicle gun law in Texas?

The same as for any other vehicle. There's a common misconception that firearms are prohibited in CMVs under federal law - this is an outright lie. There is nothing in the United States Code or the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations prohibiting you from keeping a firearm in a commercial vehicle.

What would happen if a cylinder broke in a car?

The cylinder would lose compression, causing the engine to lose power. I've personally never heard of a cylinder breaking, its usually parts near and around the cylinder that break, although if the block cracks, I guess that could be considered breaking the cylinder. The cylinder can also lose compression due to rust holes which can develop over time.

Can a title loan company reposses without sending you a notice that you are in default?

Depends on your state. But come on, how old are you? Do you really need someone to hold your hand and walk you through life? When you got the loan they explained to you what your due date was. It is time to grow up and be a big boy or girl and take some responsibility for yourself.

AnswerLike the previous user stated, it really depends on local laws. We repossess all the vehicles for a title loan business and they tend to be the crappiest repos we get. The people rarely live at the address given and are mostly unemployed. I guess that goes to show the quality of people getting title loans for the most part. Where do people go when they have screwed over their bank already to cash checks and get other types of loans?

It all comes down to a civil matter anyhow and repossessors rarely lose when taken to court if they have good lawyers (which we do). If your vehicle is repo'd and you're pi&&ed cause of something like not getting notified then you really need to look at the real issue. You're pi**ed that you have to take a bus and bum rides and are hoping to have some grounds for a law suit. That's all you have in life is mooching off society and making everyones interest rates higher.

Go file bankruptcy for the 5 time this year and get in line like all the other dead beats that don't pay their bills. I'm sure you already have an account down at the local welfare office. Probably get your internet for free too.

First of all to those that responded to this question, you need to grow up. Writing ignorant responses like you just did is pathetic. You have absolutely no idea what goes on in the "real world" and your responses are prejudice and ignorant. Maybe you should do a little bit of research before you attack someone. The FTC is a great place to start regarding this question. Then maybe you should really decide to go back to school. Now in response to the question, it depends on the contract of your loan. Each state has individual usury laws that may limit the interest rates of the loans, which in return would make the null. Also there are Federal statues that the loan companies have to adhere to. Also in most title loan contracts there is a specific amount of days before the contract can be in default and a notice to cure MUST be sent and then a period of 20 days must have lapsed.

If you purchased a car and did not give the bank the title then sold the car and did not pay it off so they came to repossess it but you have no car and no money can you be arrested for theft?

You cannot be arreseted it is a civil matter they can seek monetary compensation via the civil courts. I'd like to have an attorney look at this question. Not paying and hiding the car from repossession is not a crime, but if you sold the car while there was an outstanding lein, most jurisdictions have something to say about "conversion of secured property". In other words, it is usually illegal to sell something you do not own.

Where are cars made in the US?

I will not certify this is a complete list, but it is exhaustive. Information here also needs to be taken with some context. For example the Honda Civic sedan is made in the United States, but it is also made in Canada and Mexico (and other places in the world). The coupe and Si come exclusively from Canada so just because you see your car on the list, doesn't mean your car is assembled in America.

Another key point is the word, "assembled," as that is the real question. There isn't a car on the planet made 100% of United States parts, or Japanse parts, or German parts. A car can be "assembled" in the United States from foreign produced parts, likewise a car or truck can be assembled in a foreign country, with parts largely sourced from the United States. Electronics could come from Japan, body panels from the United States, suspension and brakes from Germany, etc. etc.

Another example that may leave you scratching your head is the Pontiac Vibe is listed as made in the United States, but its Toyota Matrix cousin isn't. The Vibe is produced at NUMMI in Long Beach, at a joint Toyota/GM factory. The Matrix is produced in Canada, as NUMMI cannot produce right hand drive vehicles for export. So made in the United States is very fuzzy.

If you want to know if your car, or any other car is made in America it is easily determined by looking at the Vehicle Identification Number or VIN. A 1, 4 or 5 as the first digit means made in the United States, starting with a 2 means Canada, starting with a 3, Mexico.

Factories are located in California, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, a Toyota factory being built in Mississippi has been suspended indefinitely.

How do you get to the back speakers in a 1994 Oldsmobile Achieva?

Start by climbing into the trunk and locating the three metal clips in the back, one in the middle and one each of the far sides. You'll need two people for this project. Have the person in the trunk use a screwdriver to lift up the clips while another person in the back seat of the car pulls the seat toward them. Once all the clips are off the frame, you can pull the seat down. Carefully lift up the thing in the back (don't know what it's called, above the seat and under the window, you'll notice it's directly above the speakers) so not to tear it. Once that is lifted you should be able to see the top of the speakers. Now's the fun part of trying to undo all the screws in a relatively tight space. Once the screws are gone, lift the speaker up and down through the hole. Then simply slip the new speaker through the same hole and fasten the new screws. Keep in mind the speaker are 6"x9" and as long as you get that size, they will fit perfectly (it's a wonderful thing!)

Is a 2006 dodge stratus a good car?

it depends on how well it was taken care of, being a 2006 yes it is new and should not show any problems whatsoever but it is new and long term tests couldn't be finished by now because it jsut came out. make sure to read the warranty and change its fluids often. do that and it should last 15 + years

How do you insure a car that's not in your name?

I'm not sure why you would want to do this. Why is the owner not getting the insurance? You will be asked on the application for insurance who owns the vehicle, if you are not truthful, you risk, (should a claim arrise), ''mis representation'' on the application and the entire claim can be denied for this. (including the damage you/owner are responsible for to other people)

How old do you have to be to have a car title in your name?

18? Not true, depends on the state. Check with your local division of motor services.

Can a car be registered in a different state than your own?

Yes but you will be limited to some activities if your car is not registerd in the state that you are in at the moment... if you are just visiting then that is ok too!!

Can you return your financed car back after 14 days?

No, because there is a "No Cooling off period in CA". No, because there is a "No Cooling off period in CA".

If a car is repossessed from someone at a buy-here-pay-here lot then you take the car and it is given back who is responsible for the balance remaining?

Usually when your vehicle is repossessed it is auctioned off and the proceeds are applied to the balance of the loan after any commissions, fees or other charges are deducted. You are then responsible for the remaining balance.
