This varies, depending on context, as literal as social. The most literate and official way to reply is saying "пожалуйста" (pozhaluista) (very close to English `my pleasure`). Less officially it's used to be "не за что" (ne za chto), which is close to 'not at all'. Also, one may use some more complex phrases, such as "был рад помочь" (byl rad pomoch'), almost literally, 'glad to help' or, in a deeply inofficial way, "спасибо не булькает" (spasibo ne bul'kaet), though this, when replied with to people you don't know closely, may offend them.

Besides Moscow and St. Petersburgh which stands out and are not considering by Russians as real Russia the cities forming "Golden Ring" are really worth to visit (Suzdal, Yaroslavl, Kostroma etc) and would give you a reale taste of Russia. I would say a good source of Russian books of any grade level is Kniga if you do not read Russian, there is a button "ENG" at the top to convert the website into English.

Another option is Ruskniga, who also has a good amount of books and a button that looks like an American flag at the top to convert the website to English.

If you do not want to shop online and live in a big city, there may be a Russian neighborhood relatively close where you could easily find bookstores that sell such books (depending on what city you live in).

Another option would be to go to get in contact with a local university and maybe asking a member of their Russian Department and asking them if they know where you could purchase books locally.
