The recommended Oil for a manual transmission in a 1997 Saturn SL1 is synthetic multi-vehicle automatic transmission fluid or ATFQT. The recommended engine oil is SAE 5W-30 synthetic motor oil.

In the expansion tank.

The windshield wiper switch is broken which is located on the windshield wiper motor. You need to replace the whole motor to fix this.

If you are certain that you have sufficient coolant, and the heater is not warming up adequately, check the thermostat and/or water pump. If the thermostat is staying open the engine coolant will not heat up enough to provide heat inside the passenger cabin.

There is a plug on the passenger side of the transmission by the drive axle It is 11mm bolt. start the vehicle in park on a level surface or hoist...at operating temp pull out the plug Fluid should just trickle out of the plug hole If no fluid comes out add fluid to trans until it does...>Where do you add??? there is no dipstick on the trans. you have a 4t40e transmission. On the bottom of the transmission on the passenger side about 1 " above the pan you will see an 11 mm bolt. Start the car in park and remove this bolt. Then add fluid through the red cap on the top until a steady stream comes out of the bolt in the bottom. Make sure you have a pan under it. Once the stream is steady, replace bolt and replace red cap and you are all filled up.

It's a part of the throttle body assembly.

Don't try it if you aren't trained to handle airbags. They are easily damaged, expensive and can discharge, causing serious injury and even death.

Part of the answers is that the SOCH engine is the one with the sprk plug in the front only and the COCH engine is the twin cam 16 v. sprk plug on top

The Oil Filter on this car is what is called a "clip-in" filter the way you remove it is to simply have the correct sized wrench, and remove the Cap and the filter should come with it.

a better question might be, "why would you want to?". research has proven that lights on reduces accidents even during daylight hours. here in Canada daytime running lights have been a requirement on all new cars for many years now. when I drive in the USA now I find that oncoming vehicles are much closer to me before I see them. this becomes even more apparent on overcast and rainy days. common sense says that you should turn your lights on in bad weather (actually a law in Maine, don't know about other states) but it is very easy to forget. I actually wish manufacturers took it a step further and made rear lighting mandatory as well. many people think they don't need to turn lights on here until it is completely dark, not realizing that daytime running lights are only in the front. I've had many near misses (I drive for a living) approaching vehicles from behind in dark or stormy conditions. Comments??

Yes you do. You first have to drop the exhaust then the tank. The pump comes out of the top of the tank. No access panel in the floor so the tank has to come down.

luckly for you im a class a mechanic that works at a Saturn dealership,its not so easy in the driveway though,you are probably wonering were the cable go well if you remove the exhaust and the heat shield than you will see that it connects to another cable if you can get the exhaust off from the flanged area by the cat than you are laughing.by the way that's a real common problem with the lseries.

1. Open the fuse box that's next to the battery.
2. You should be able to find a button labeled "OIL".
3. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position but do not start the engine.
4. Press and hold the "OIL" button for 10 seconds.
5. You should hear the dashboard chime a couple times as an indication that the oil light has turned off.

It's actually easier to replace a Saturn thermostat than most other vehicles. Simply remove the thermostat housing and get a new one. The thermostat is molded into the housing. Remove the radiator hose to the housing, then remove the two nuts that hold the thermostat housing to the engine. You may need to work at breaking the housing loose since the gasket has probably seized to the engine.

Simply clean off any left-over gasket, and put the new gasket and thermostat housing in place.
