How do you put an alternator belt on a 2001 Saturn L200?
look for a tensioner pulley, if you don't know what it looks like. then go to the nearest auto motive store and buy the book on your car. there should be a diagram on how the belt goes around the other pulleys if it is just one big belt, if not then look on the alternator bracket there should be around three bolts that need to be loosened. be sure the belt is tight before you tighten the bolts, put some pressure on the altenator. Hope the info helps...

How do you replace a starter in a 2003 Saturn L200?
you will have to go at it from underneath. the starter is close to the fan on the front closer to the driver side. disconnect the battery first. undo the wire attached to the solenoid and the battery wire, there are two bolts holding it on you will need an extension to get the top bolt. i think it is a 15mm socket. with those two bolts out it will come off. I'm not a mechanic but i did take mine off 2 hours ago andhad to buy a book to do it. hope this helps

What does it mean when the security light comes on in a 1995 Monte Carlo?
95 Monte Carlo's are equipped with GM Passkey II. A wire runs from the computer up to the ignition switch and back to the computer (The 2 wires run into the steering column inside an orange shroud. The wire measures resistance from a resistor in the key. If you have a loose connector or if the resistor on the key is worn down... the computer cannot read the correct resistance and thinks the car is being stolen. If the computer cannot read the resistance at startup, it will disable the starter and fuel injectors for three minutes. The easiest fix (although it disables this security feature) is to measure the resistance in your key (the little chip on the part of the key that goes into the ignition) using a multi-meter, then buy a resistor from radio shack of the same reistance; then hook the resistor to the two small wires in the orange shroud underneath the dash going into the steering column (leaving the wires coming out of the steering column dead). This way, the computer always reads the correct resistance. If you're worried about losing your security feature, you can also place a toggle switch on the wire to disconnect the resistor when needed. mine goes off for everything. when my alarm was triped, when my ABS is messed up, when there is anything wrong with my car other then oil, gas or the brake light. for me its the catch 22 light. if you recently got in a fender bender it can be a pinched or severed wire were you were hit. That is why my ABS was inop, after i fixed it the light finally stoped bugging me. hope that helps give you an idea were to look, my owner manual actually had some good info in it for once! Frank
It is the body control module It always starts out sparadic then you will get a service engine soon light and a service light !!
Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement 2000 Saturn L series?
You need to take the wiper arms off first so you can take off the plastic cover that runs across the the bottom of the windshield. There are plastic nuts that hold down the cover under the wiper arms. Unplug the wiper motor connection. You have to remove the 3 mounting bolts that hold the motor and the wipper linkage assembly. Lift every thing out. The bolts that hold the motor are on the bottom along with the bolt that holds the crank arm to the motor. Remove all 4 bolts. Make sure to keep the assembly arms in the same position. I put tape between the 2 arms to keep them in the same position. Remove the crank arm and remove the motor. Replace it with the new one. Make sure that every thing is in the same position and put back together the same way you took it apart.

How do you Remove hub cap on Saturn l series?
The hub caps are held on with the lug nut covers, these are plastic, and screw on the lug bolts if you use the lug wrench you can loosen the plastic hub cap lug bolts and be able to remove the hub cap without loosening the lug bolts. 2001 L200's have lug bolts rather than lug nuts.

How do you change the cabin air filter 2000 Saturn ls?
Replacing the cabin air filter is actually quite simple.
Open the hood and remove the rubber seal that is just in front of the windshield.
The access to the cabin air filter is in the center, just lift the door and remove the filter. Be careful, since it's quite easy to break the plastic access door.
Where are the fuses in a Saturn l series?

Where is the Body Control Module on 2002 Saturn L300?
Supposedly above the glovebox, but not exactly sure. Planning on replacing mine, too, but heard you must reprogram it from the old BCM to retain your original mileage and the VIN. Otherwise, there is a manual cycle program to train the new BCM to work with the PCM so you can start the car. See procedure below:
Here's the immediate problem you need to know and understand about BCM's; being a separate computer to handle more electronics that the engine computer doesn't need to handle (the PCM), the BCM handles OBD II duties and controls the vehicle Passlock anti-theft system among other chores. The anti-theft system requires the BCM to communicate with a security signal that's detected at the ignition switch during rotation when turning ON the ignition. If the security signal isn't recognized by the BCM the BCM automatically sends signals to the PCM that kills the engine from running by disabling the fuel pump and injectors. This is the heart and soul of GM's vehicle anti-theft system - no fuel pump means no fuel and pressure to the injectors as well as disabling injector pulses. A dead engine. You can crank the engine all day but while the security light flashes during starting the engine will never fire up; no fuel pressure to supply dead injectors. The BCM sends a password to the PCM disabling part of it from operating. If the BCM doesn't have the security code to recognize the ignition switch signals the BCM won't work at all. However, any PCM, BCM, or ignition switch assembly that's replaced requires what's described as a Passlock re-learn procedure to synchronize the three subassemblies for proper operation. This either takes place at Saturn or during a 30-minute DIY procedure in three 10-minute cycles. The procedure is basically to leave the ignition ON for 10-minutes, cycling the ignition OFF and then ON for another 10-minutes and once more until repeated three times, never starting at any time. After the third cycle the ignition can be turned to start the engine to confirm that all components have successfully been synchronized. A failure to start means an incorrect re-learn procedure was done and needs to be repeated all over again. The security light will flash during the process and eventually turn off altogether as indication of successful re-learing security codes for any new part replaced. What isn't changed are the VIN and mileage that Saturn equipment can do. The security system is divided into three parts; the ignition switch sensors, the PCM, and the BCM. Any one of these subassemblies being replaced requires the BCM to relearn the new replacement part otherwise you'll just have a dead engine unable to run. New BCM's come as blanks that Saturn address' with their Techtool II with VIN and mileage copied from the failed BCM. 'Field' BCM's removed from vehicles still retain VIN and mileage that can only be changed by Saturn. There may be other programmed accessories that have to considered to be compatible to the original one removed for replacement.
