How do you replace a shifter cable on a 1991 Chrysler New yorker?

Just finished fixing mine today, what a mess. Look at the shifter cable once you get it out. If its just a little bent then stick it in a vice, and tap on it a few times with a hammer to straighten it back out. After my original cable went out I went a bought a $40 aftermarket cable. The aftermarkets are cheap compared to the original, the aftermarket cable broke while installing and could not be salvaged. I ended up having to straighten out the original like i said above and reinstalling it. As for how do you install it? Its pretty simple just look at the way the original one is installed and do it the same way, all I can say is its not much fun, and its not very easy

Change spark plug wires 2002 Saturn SL?

The Saturn SL, SL1 and SL2 all have spark plug wires. The current advice I have is to replace them one at a time, so that the timing of the engine is not changed. Changing the timing can ruin the engine. But... The wires go through two wiring holding brackets. And that back bracket is hard to get to. The following video gives some good ideas, and some good cautions, and completely fails to tell anyone how to remove those wires. http://www.youtube.com/watch?vGq5hRTjll3E This is also useful, but again, does not completely solve the problem: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t136307 I want advice on how to get to that last pair of wires. Here is how to do that:
There is a big plastic piece near the radiator.
It is held on by its shape and a small plastic thumbtack shaped 'pin'.
Remove pin with flat bladed screwdriver, remove plastic, and the spark plug wire harness is easy to get to. I am using a 7mm socket.

ON the passenger side, push the axle in enough to line the axle to engine bracket up.

How do you run a compression test for 2001 Saturn SL?

Running a compression test is pretty much the same for all internal combustion engines.

  1. Remove all sparkplugs, marking where the wires went; you don't want to connect the wrong wires to the plugs when you're finished.
  2. Start with cylinder 1, screw in a compression gauge where the sparkplug just came out. Some compression gauges just press in, but I prefer the screw in type.
  3. Have an assistant engage the starter as though trying to start the engine. Obviously the engine won't start without plugs.
  4. You should hear and/or feel the engine compression on the single cylinder with the gauge in place; make sure that cylinder goes through compression cycle at least 3 times.
  5. Read the value on the gauge. The gauge should hold the compression reading, allowing you to record the reading.
  6. Write down the compression reading and the cylinder number.
  7. CLEAR THE COMPRESSION GAUGE. You can release the compression reading, usually by pressing a button or turning a knob. It's different for different style gauges.
  8. Repeat the process for all cylinders.
  9. Compare the compression value for all cylinders; they should be within a few percent of each other. Any small variance can be attributed to cylinder or valve wear. Large differences indicate severe problems. If any two adjacent cylinders have zero compression, you probably have a blown head gasket.
