well i know my focus service engine light was on and we just unhooked the battery for 20 seconds and now the light is off and it has been 1 month

If you have recently replaced the taillight/brakelight bulbs... you may have installed the wrong type. This will cause the circuit to cross and light up both filaments, which would look like a brake light.

The 4 cylinder engines used a timing chain while the V6 engines used a timing belt which must be replaced every 100,000 miles.

Since the vehicle described is the SC2, it was originally equipped with the 4 cylinder, dual cam engine, meaning that it has a timing chain.

Check the operators manual since different manufacturers have unique ways of resetting the indicator light.

For several models, Saturn used a reset button that was inside the fuse panel adjacent to the battery. If you can locate a reset button in that panel, turn the key to the on position but with the engine off, then press and hold the oil reset button for 5 or more seconds until you hear the door chime from inside the vehicle.

There is a small switch inside the steering column lock mechanism. When that switch fails it can cause the door alarm to chime.

The chime is supposed to inform you that the key is still in the lock, but when that switch fails it can certainly cause the problem you described.

It is possible that your car needs a tune-up, but I have had my car go gutless on me after 12 years of ownership only to find that the catalytic converter had gone bad. When this happens the flow of exhaust from the engine is restricted, making the engine work harder which reduces the power to the wheels. You can take your car to any exhaust shop to have your catalytic converter checked typically for free. When I had mine changed it cost $300, so be prepared. Good Luck

If there is no leak, then you likely are burning the oil. This could be through the piston rings, valves, or head gasket. Remove your radiator cap, or look in your radiator fluid container. If it looks like a milkshake, then that would be your head gasket. However, I would think that someone would see that during an oil change. The most likely cause I can think of without looking at your car would be oil being burned. When your car is running check the exhaust. If blue smoke is coming out, then that would be oil being burned out the exhaust.

The master cylinder MUST be bleed first before any bleeding at the wheels can occur. if you do not do this, you will be bleeding for hours.

On the SL2 (DOHC), there are two coolant temperature sensors located on the left-hand side of the cylinder head, near the upper coolant hose.

Your SL1 (SOHC) might be different.

On the SL2, the upper sensor with ONE WIRE controls the temperature gauge in the dash. The lower sensor with TWO wires provides input to the computer. They are not interchangeable. Yours may be similar.

Here is a tip you will need a 4mm deepwell socket to get it out.

You cannot fit a traditional hard style roof box without a roof rack, otherwise the roof box will scratch the surface of the roof. If you want to get a roof rack then you need to go to Carracks.co.uk , you can choose exactly which one you want to fit a roof box to.

You can actually fit a soft style roof box to your roof without roof bars, something like a Thule Ranger 90 or a Green Valley Pack and Drive unit. This is normally foldable and can be stored using less space than a traditional roof box.

Roof bar systems or Roof racks are normally manufactured by Thule, Mont Blanc, Yakima or Green Valley.

If its a manual, it will bolt up and function, but not properly. If its an automatic, it will bolt up and not function at all.

Front side of the block on the passenger side, below the AC compressor (if your car is so equipped). The lower radiator hose goes to it. It is held on with two bolts and the thermostat will come out with the housing. BE CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING THE THERMOSTAT FROM THE HOUSING! You can easily break the inside cast extention that holds the thermostat's end pin.

That depends on several factors. How you drive, and if you drive mostly city or highway driving. Your brakes have a wear warning indicator. When you hear that squeal coming for the front brakes, it is time to replace them.

Brakes should be inspected at every tire rotation. This way you can be proactive if hardware or other components fail before you hear noise from the wear indicators. Cleaning and adjustments should also be done on the rear drums.

If you stand on the driver's side looking where the top radiator hose connects to the engine, look to the right and down and you will see two sensors. The one closest to the radiator hose is the sensor that shows up on the dash and the second one which is lower and a bit more to the right and sits in a little hole is the cooling fan sensor. It can be a major pain to get to, I highly suggest removing the intake hose from the air filter box. I am having the same problem getting the cooling fan to work and have found that isn't the issue atleast I don't think it is I have done the OHMS test on my and found it's just fine. I did notice that when using jumper wire on the ALDL B & A to get the trouble codes the cooling fan comes on. ?????.. Any thoughts? The codes I received were 13 & 32 OXY sensor and EGR. Thanks Jim My fan is not working on my 93 SL1. If you want to know where the thermostat is, it is on the left side of the engine towards the bottom on my SL1. Trace the lower radiator hose into the engine, the curved metal piece that is attached to the engine that exceps the hose is your thermostat. Before you attempt to go after your thermostat try out these things first. There are a couple things you should check. I bought the manual to troubleshoot this problem. Check your fuses (Open the hood, fuse box located on righthand side) look at the diagram for a reference. The cooling fan used a fuse and a relay. The cooling fan is a MAX I fuse. It is large and green, $2.99 or so at your local auto parts store. The relay is a $46.00 part, but this is easy to troubleshoot. While the car is warm about 10 minutes of use, the engine cooling fan should turn on around 220 degrees F. Remove the relay from your horn (or something else, just make sure that the part #'s are the same) and replace it with the fan cooling relay. Be careful not 2 mix them up, they should be identical. The next steps are more labor intensive (Not bad at all). I have replaced the sensor closest to the radiator on the righthandside of the engine (there are two sensors that are screwed into the side of the engine under the intake hose) and that did nothing, later found out that controlled the gauge in the car. I am having a lot of trouble getting 2 the second one (a little under and behind the first sensor). DO NOT DO THIS WHILE ENGINE IS HOT!. I would wait a long time until attempting to do this. Wait until the engine is cold and unscrew the coolant cap (left side of engine bay) to relieve any pressure. Get the sensor ready because coolant will come out apon removing the old sensor. Use plumbers tape (make sure you apply the tape the opposite way of tightening (counterclockwise) do not tear the tape cut it. This will allow the tape to seal the threads ( no leaks) and will tighten the tape while screwing in. Be careful while putting the clip back on, I bent my first sensor and had to go get a new one. Mock it up first before you put it in to make sure it is the correct sensor (aftermarket parts are not going to fit as well as OEM). I used a 13mm standard wrench on my sensor. The sensor is cheap and if you have enough time do it yourself. The part is $9.88 at advance auto parts. Most auto parts stores price match so just tell them the price in advance and they should adjust and take 5% off. (I know checkers does). If you have a pet or little children the coolant is very toxic if the pet licks it there is a good chance it will die. Wash hands right away and hose off the excess coolant that came out. In addition, add coolant as needed.
