What is horsepower of a 1990 ford Bronco 5.8L?

first of all it is highly unlikly that its a 5.8 liter v8 or 360 unless you put it in their yourself. but it all depends on all you have done to the motor and also how many miles and how much stress you have put on the motor. but probably a 1990 model 5.8 liter has aproximently 250-325 if it is still stock.

The 1990-96 Bronco came with a 210HP 5.8L (351cid) engine mated up with a 3-speed automatic only. Automakers always downplayed their Horsepower numbers, for insurance reasons, so you can add another 10% to it for a total of 231HP

Where can you find a diagram of the engine bay of a Suzuki Sidekick online?

I have a '98 Chevy Tracker ( same thing ). I went crazy trying to find info. Chilton's online was ok, but I had better success and got some good schematics, diagrams and info on alldata.com. They do charge for the info. I can't remember exactly what it was. If you can't get there through a search, go to Auto Zone.com and you can get to All Data DIY from there.

What is brake horsepower?

Brake Horsepower is simply power rated at the output shaft or journal

The term is used in powertrain applications mostly, because moving parts (transmissions etc) use some percentage of output force to operate by demonstrating some element of loss (heat, noise etc) when in operation, its usefull in separating the power output(s) when disclosing them.

Abbreviations "BHP"

Not to be confused with "Output", or "Horsepower at the Wheels" Brake horse power is the unit of measurement of power. It is the rate at which work is done. It is the most common conversion factor for electrical power. Brake Horse Power is also known a "crank Horse power"

This is the measurement in horse power an engine will make while NOT driving any accessories.

These accessories include:

  • Alternator
  • Water pump
  • Belts
  • Power steering
  • AC
  • Gear box
  • Differential

and any other item driven by the engine that it does not need to directly run.

The testing is done currently in a way that measures these losses and figures out an Brake Horse Power rating

What is a crdi engine?

Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDI)

Did you ever shy away from buying a Diesel car thinking that you would be buying a taxi? If yes then you can rethink your decision as CRDI engines are all set to revolutionize the way one looks at Diesel cars.

CRDI engine fitted cars offer 25% more power than the normal direct injection engine with a superior pickup and torque offering sometimes up to 70% more power than the conventional diesel engines.

They are smooth less noisy and immensely fuel efficient giving around 24 kilometers to a liter of Diesel. The fact that Diesel is cheaper than petrol in India further attributes greatness to the engine. In a CRDI engine, a tube or a common rail connects all the injectors and contains fuel at a constant high pressure.

This high pressure in the common rail ensures that when injected, the fuel breaks up into small particles and mixes evenly with the air, thereby leaving little un-burnt fuel thus reducing pollution. The common rail principle has been used to cut out the noise factor which used to be associated with Diesel engines; the technology has been pioneered by the Fiat group, only to be adopted by other automobile companies around the world.

Like all good things in life, these engines also come at a price; they are at least 25% more costly than the conventional engines. They also require a higher degree of maintenance and spares aren't cheap also.

Convert brake horsepower to horsepower?

There are too many variables to convert brake horsepoer to horsepower with a simple equation, it has to do with power transmission.

the "brake" horsepower is the amount of power at the flywheel (the backside of the engine.) from there the power hits the transmission, from there is hits the driveshaft, and finally the wheels, the ratios on all of these effect the power, all of each taking its own little chunk away from it.

How does the hand clutch control for handicapped drivers work in a LHD car and how is it routed?

A hand operated clutch for disabled drivers is available in two types: 1. Manually operated: The gear shift knob of the vehicle is replaced with a new knob featuring a small lever which controls the movement of the clutch. The driver moves this lever with their fingers while their hand is on the knob in the process of shifting. The lever is analogous to the clutch pedal and the driver has complete control over the clutch. 2. Computer operated: In this case an infrared detector is installed in the existing gear shift knob. By placing their hand on the knob and covering the detector the driver signals the computer their intent to shift and the computer controls motion of the clutch. This type of device requires a great deal of data from the vehicle itself, including speed, engine RPMs, and whether the driver is on the gas or brake. Both types utilize a powerful servo-motor which is usually mounted in the engine compartment. The servo-motor controls a cable (similar to a motorcycle clutch cable, but larger in size) which is connected to the clutch pedal. When used the cable pulls on the clutch pedal simulating the action of foot pressure. Samples of these clutches can be seen at www.rediautosport.com
