Timing and Firing Orders

There are two firing orders for the Ford 302. There is the standard 302 firing order of 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Then there is the Ford 302 HO firing order which is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Make sure you are using the correct order. Set the #1 piston at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke. Now install the distributor so the rotor is pointed at the #1 plug connection on distributor cap.

For a 2001 Ford E-250 :

The 5.4 liter gasoline V8 firing order is ( 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 )

It has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils

The engine cylinder locations are numbered :

3 - 7

2 - 6

1 - 5

All V8 Chevrolet's firing order is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2. 1,3,5,7 is on the left bank and 2,4,6,8 is on the right bank. The distributor turns clockwise.

For an inline 4cyl a Riley 9 (and all other Riley twin cams) has a rather unusual 1-2-4-3 firing order. Most 4 cyl cars use 1-3-4-2.

what would make a 2000 ford windstar die out at stop lights and you have to put your foot on the brake and gas at the same time to keep it running and it sputters and jerks.

looking at engine front from left to right 1 3 5 at back of engine left to right 2 4 6

the timing marks are on the rear of the engine @ the top of the transmission bell housing,use the mark on the flywheel & pointer on the bell housing to line up the timing marks.

1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 is the firing order for the 5.0 H.O. engines... If it's not the H.O. engine it is: 1 - 5 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 3 - 7 - 8...

12 deg btdc with coolant sensor unplugged

There are no 1991 AMC Eagles, you must mean 1981 AMC Eagle. Stalling can be caused by many things but more than likely it is a carburetor problem.
