That would be MY first guess. Second possibility might be the switch. Sometimes the contacts get corroded a little - try moving the switch a few times in rapid succession which might clear away any 'crud' collected on the contacts.

For the 4.6L it's a fairly involved job and I wouldn't recomend it unless you are getting close to 100K miles or are having misfire problems. For the 4.6L it's a matter of removing or loosening the items that are in the way (such as the air cleaner drum and hose leading to the throttle body, as well as the electrical interface plugs and relays mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the car). Make sure you cover any ports or hoses that you disconnect to prevent dust or debris from getting blown into them. Removing the spark plug boots is usually the toughest part of the job, because there isn't enough room to get your hands in there to pull the boots off. I discovered with mine that a helpful technique is to use a length of strap type rope or cord and loop it around the spark plug wire. Then tie a slip knot in the rope and manuver the loop so it is around the head of the spark plug boot. Gently pull the loop tighter so it closes around the boot (NOT THE WIRE!). Once it's tight you can use the rope to pull upwards to disconnect the boot. Remember that the plugs are slightly angled on the Expedition's heads (towards the rear of the vehicle on the passenger side and the front on the driver's side), so you'll have to pull at a slight angle in order to release the plug boots.

After that it's all very straightforward stuff (blow out the area with compressed air, use a spark plug socket to remove plugs, gap new platnium plugs and use anti-seize compound on the threads of the new ones, use silicone dielectric grease on the boots, torque new plugs to spec, etc.). I had this problem. From what I can tell, the problem stems from two problems. One is moisture gets into the alternator and fries the core, and the other is actually with the spark plugs. If you are not running the engine long enough for it to get really hot, the fuel leaves deposits on the plug tips. Try cleaning the spark plugs and retry to start the car if it doesn't work still it is the Alternator. Also if you let it sit over a month, you might want to verify your liquid seals and fluid levels are still good. Okay, if it has sat for a month without any charge going to the battery, it is most likely the battery. Over time, batteries can lose their charge if not in use. Just get a jumpstart from a friendly neighbor or a buddy. I work in an auto parts store, so i tell people the better way to jumpstart their battery all the time, so it will survive for the next time you need to start it. whether it be jumper cables or a small jumper pack, allow the juice to flow into the dead car for about 2-5 minutes. then you can attempt to start it. if it wont start quite yet, let it go some more. when it starts, disconnect the donating juice and allow the vehicle to run at least a good 15 minutes to let the battery get some decent charge from the alternator. if you dont let it run before immediately driving somewhere, it may not get the proper charge it needs to be able to start it again. just a little car battery FYI: 1. A true dead battery wont hold a charge past an hour. 2. Keeping your terminals and posts clean from corrosion can help your battery last another year or two. 3. A simple multi-meter can tell you if your alternator is doing its job. 13-14Volts and up means it is ok, any lower and it needs to be replaced. just set your tester to DC 12 voltage. 4. If your battery appears to have bulging sides, it could mean it is being overcharged by the alternator. have the alternator an/or voltage regulator checked

each fuse protects a designated electronic device and has a maximum amount of amps it can hold. if the maximum is reached the fuse will melt the tiny strip of metel encased in the plastic. now to answer your question, the fuse diagram is like a map that tells you what fuse protects which device and where it's positioned in the fuse block. if your question was where can I find a fuse diagram, try and look on the back of the cover that is over the fuse block. good luck its not on the cover. youll have to look in a haynes manual or the owners manual. or just research online.

The power to the window relay comes from the fuse panel. The relay should be under the shift console, left side, after you remove the small access panel. The didn't make these things easy to get to. Losing power to both windows probably means a loose of power at the fuse panel. The wire plugs in right above where you use your foot to operate the dimmer switch. To do any electrical testing you really should have basic test tools and a basic knowledge of 12 volt electrical systems.

Check the wires going thru the drivers door for fraying . Using a 12v tester, check the power going to the master switch at the drivers door.The circuit breaker for your power windows should reset as long as there isn't a dead short.I hope this helps you. Could you tell me where on the fuse panel is the one for the power windows (location)? I would appreciate. Access to read is not easy and with a flash light I could bearely read them. I could not find any abrevation close to power windows or related to. All looks not melted. Maybe there is a relay too to check or change? where is the location?. Appreciate your help. Eric

No, the spark plugs and O2 sensor are totally different things.

that is not right!! they are the same things!!

Based on a consumer-available manual and my experience, there are 6-8 screws/fasteners that will need to be removed. (6 if you have the mudflaps).

2 pop-out fasteners under the cover - if you look along the bottom edge of the cover, you'll see 2 tabs that connect the cover to the underbody. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the connectors.

2-4 screws - where the cover connects to the bottom of the rear wheel well, there are 4mm hex-head screws that will need to be removed.

2 interior screws - lift up the tailgate, and you'll see a screw in the left and right corners. Remove these screws and pop out the fastener.

4 Bolts hold on to the bumper cover - lift up the tailgate and take off the cover where the tailgate latch is. There are 4 black flat head fastners which keep the tailgate latch cover. After you take that off, you'll see the 4 Bolts that need to be taken off. (Highlander 2001)

After removing those, carefully start on the left or right sides, lifting up and pulling straight out to release the bumper from the clips.

The center part is tricky. I know there are 'slide' tabs. I broke mine off since I had no idea how they slid (stupid manual didn't mention it!). So take your time, and figure out which way to slide the cover off of the connecting tabs. I think you had to pull to the left on the left half, and right on the right side, but I'm not 100% sure. (THIS PARAGRAPH MIGHT BE FOR THE 2004 -- See the paragraph with 4 Bolts, this was what this original writer was writing about mine was for 2001, which should not make a difference.)

For my 2006 Toyota highlander the bumper came out easily so I didn't have to go through the process in the above paragraph 7.

November/09 addition: I just took the plastic rear bumper cover off my 2004 Highlander following the instructions above. It took 25 minutes. There are 4 rectangular tabs ( 1''x1/4") holding each side of the cover at the top behind the wheel wells. You can pry the cover off by using a flat head screw driver inserted between the cover and the metal side panel. Start with the tab closest to the wheel, then work toward the back.

If it's a temporary or "donut" spare, it's supposed to get you off the highway and to the nearest service station. And you're not supposed to exceed 50 mph limping there. There are two hex/star screws above the headlight casing that need to be removed first. Then you slide out the headlight casing to expose the backside, there you will find the a medium sized slipnut around the Halogen bulb. Turn counter clock wise to release and pull back gently allowing the halogen bulb to come free of the headlight casing. Unplug the Halogen bulb (a flatheaded screw driver my be needed to pry the locking clasp) To install the new Halogen bulb reverse the above steps be very careful to NOT touch the Halogen Bulb itself. The oils on your skin can cause the bulb to blow out sooner when power is given to the bulb. Tighten everything back up and you are done...
