Its not the button on the top!!! It's the button on the bottom the one on the top turns it off after it's on.

to the left of the steering wheel, on the left side of the dash , there are two buttons; push the top one. the cruise control is then enabled, then press the set/ accel. button on the steering wheel.

Code P0136 is the code set for your O2 Sensor that is located after your Catalytic Converter.

2008 Rav4 (hope the 2011 is the same): Remove the glove compartment. To the upper right behind that compartment on the firewall you will see a clear tube going thru the edge feedthru of a large grommet and a small wire budle going thru the center of the grommet. On the opposite edge of the grommet (3 oclock) there is a hole for another feedthru (your pwr cable). Shove small screwdriver thru that hole to break the thin rubber membrane on the hood side; if it doestn't break thru the rubber, it will at least stretch it out to where you can cut of the nipple with scissors; go under the hood and locate the grommet on the upper passenger firewall and snip it. Apply WD40 to the grommet where you've made your hole and slide the cable on thru. I can't believe how many people on the RAV4 owners forum don't know of this; they go the hard way by making a new hole, or even worse, route the cable under the vehicle.

Had this problem today on a 96 Rav. The fuse for the windows and locks is very very well hidden!

Remove the grey plastic panel under the steering wheel, this goes right across from the centre console to the side of the car, and has a small fuse box and bonnet release handle attached. I was confronted by a white plastic block conector to the very outside of this space, with a green housin on it as well. This is mounted by three 10mm bolts, 2 top, and 1 bottom. I un-did these, and the fuses are on the back!! Pink, 30 amp square fuse. Took me an hour to find!

I believe that the noise you hear may be cause by the lining of the wheel well having broken loose. Some of the plastic bolts that hold my wheel well liner on were knocked loose whenever I drove through to large of a puddle. The plastic lining flaps when I drive between 60 - 70, or if it is really windy.

I have a problem with my 2 door Toyota rav4 2002 fuel gauge. it reads empty when in fact it is partly full. When filled up at pumps it then reads only half full. What can I do to fix this.

Face the front of the car. Look under the left side, front of the engine block. Filter is inside the verticle cannister.

I had the same question. Because it is so difficult to get to the running light bulb connector, I first tried to take out the whole headlight assembly. That was a mistake and way too difficult. I just decided to deal with the cramped space to get to the bulb. I suspected the bulb connector was a twist out unit, but I couldn/t turn it with my fingers, which is about all I could get into that space. Finally I tried a small pair of needle nose pliers and turned the connector counter clockwise (as looking at it from the drivers seat and it came loose. Once the connect was loose, it pulls straight back and the bulb is one of the spade type bulb that just plugs into the connector. Once replaced with a new bulb and the connector repositioned back into the headlight assembly, I still couldn't turn the connector by finger to lock it into place. So had to use the pliers again and was finished with that job. kp

I went underneath t the fender- there is a cover which has a few pins that will pop out. It was easy to get to once these pins were removed and the cover will allow you to reach in and grab the light. It turns counterclockwise as described above. The pins can be reused and will pop back in when replacing. Just be careful when removing.

Going in through the fender well was much easier. Jack up the vehicle so that there is plenty of room to work with. There are several screws in the well and towards the front underside that secure clips. Slide the clip away from the piece underneath to disengage. The plastic pins on my 2004 Rav have a center section on the head that when pulled with needle nose pliers, releases the tension of the pin and will slide out and back in relatively easy. Much easier than breaking the pin by wedging a flathead screwdriver underneath the head to try and force it out! You do not need to remove the entire wheel well cover, just the middle to front section. Counter clockwise to remove from the light housing, replace bulb and test before reassembling. Very dirty/gunky work if wheel well not cleaned and hosed off.

The first thing to remember is NEVER touch the glass on the new halogen bulb. If you do, the oil from your fingers left on the glass will cause it to burn out.

A lot of things jammed up near the headlamp make this a minor pain for a do-it-yourselfer with large hands. On passenger side, unclip the wiring harness by sliding the white clip up then pulling away the harness. Tuck it out of the way.

Next, work the large rubber seal away from the lamp connection and wiggle the three prong connector off the back of the bulb. There's a wire clip holding the bulb in place. Pinch one end of the wire clip toward the center and disengage from its groove--then the other. Work the bulb out.

Take new bulb and hold only by its socket end--never touching the glass. Slide it into the socket making sure the three flanges on the bulb actually seat into the three grooves of the socket. Then, push bulb on in until you see the groove for the wire clip--seat one, then the other clip.

Align 3-prong power socket with the 3 prongs on the back of the bulb. Wiggle and press in for a firm connection. Then, work large waterproofing rubber seal back onto the lamp housing.

Reattach the wiring harness; test the bulb. We're done!

More or less square,black housing to the right of the engine. I believe the 2005 is like the 2004. Take the small vacuum hoses loose after making a diagram of where they go. Take the two cap screws out on the right side of the housing.Housing is hinged on the other end. Remove old element. The new element has an arrow showing which way it installs. Reverse the procedure can do this on my 2004 V6 without taking the air inlet to the throttle body loose. I have always used Toyota air filters as I don't like the looks of the Fram filter sold by WalMart. Maybe you are referring to the cabin air filter.This has already been answered.

They say you shouldn't because it contaminates them. however I have read posts on TDI club about it and you must remove the screens and use electrical contact cleaner. whats the worst that will happen you wreck it and have to buy a new one your at that stage now no harm no fowl.

Sometimes, when you don't put the gas cap on properly, a computer will detect that the fuel evaporation recovery system isn't working properly and it will turn on the MIL. Just make sure you put the gas cap on tight and the code shouldn't come back.

Tire size has no bearing on road noise. Some tires are just naturally noisy. I suggest you go to www.tirerack.com and compare tires with emphasis on a quiet ride. Read the reviews of the tires in your price range. Look at Tire Rack's ratings. Excellent site with the information you need to make an informed decision.

My Tacoma V6 is a 2001 so assuming it didn't change from 2000 to 2001, the oil filter is on the drivers side of the engine, about 1/3 of the way from the front of the truck. Now the filter sits at about a 45 degree angle from vertical, that is the part of the filter that has screws on to the engine faces downwards, toward the ground. Of course this means when you start unscrewing the filter, oil runs down the side of the engine, onto the skid plate (my Tacoma is the 4-door Prerunner, if you have a 2 wheel drive standard cab or extended cab you may not have that0 you, the ground, etc. The only way to really grip the filter is from underneath, if you are strong enough you can use your hands, if not the best wrench is the cup type that fits on the bottom of the filter. I contacted Fram to see if they have an oil filter relocation kit for these vehicles, but they don't. I called the dealer to see what they did about the oil running down the side of the engine, they said they just let it run and clean up the mess. I have a way to help that. Get a 2 liter plastic soft drink bottle, cut out about the top 4 inches off (leave the cap on!), then cut out a half cirlce on one side of that. Slide the cut out underneath the point where the filter meets the engine block. Unscrew the filter slowly and most of the oil will run into the bottle top, you can also drop the filter itself into the top after it comes off, just be sure to have a firm grip on the bottle top as the filter does have some weight to it. Hold the bottle top level and take it out from underneath. My Tacoma sits up 9 inches above the ground, so I don't need to jack it up to get underneath, the others may need to be raised up. Be sure to use proper jackstands and to chock the rear wheels!!!!!!!!! Hope this helps.

Also, if you purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through. Very simple.
