I Think it gives the impression of a bad ignition module. Actually, I have this problem in Buick Regal, turned out to be the Crank Posistioning Sensor, which in my former vehicle, was very hard to change, located between oil pan and transmission. I had to take it out in pieces. Good luck!
How can you tell if the head gasket is blown on a 1993 Toyota pickup?
Most of the time you can tell by removing the radiator cap and having someone start the engine. Make sure you are not standing over it and you might want to lay a rag over the opening. If the head gasket is blown, then coolant will come out like "Old Faithful".

Where is the starter located on a 1999 Toyota Four Runner?

Where is the fuse for overhead compass on 2006 Toyota tacoma?
There isn't a separate fuse for the display; it is fused along with the instrument cluster. So, if your instrument panel is still lit, the fuse for the overhead display is fine. Chances are you have a resistor failure on the display board.
The accessory meter (this is what Toyota calls the ambient temp / compass display) can be removed:
1.) Remove the screw inside the sunglasses compartment. (1 Philips head screw)
2.) Disengage the 2 clips and 3 plastic claws. The locking claws are on the screw end of the console, so you must to gently pull down on the end closest to the windshield where the two clips are. Be careful, it can 'pop' out suddenly. Go slow and make sure you don't yank out the wiring.
3.) Disconnect the accessory meter connector and map lamp connector.
Next, remove the 3 T10 size torx screws that hold the display screen (accessory meter) in.
On the circuit board, there are two surface mount resistors labeled "510". What this means is 51 ohm, as the '0' is the multiplier value.
These two resistors have too much current running through them, so they tend to overheat and the solder pads crack and break over time. This is a known design flaw, and exists in other makes / models of vehicles with this type of display.
Many people are resoldering these as a temporary fix...note that due to oxidation of the resistors the solder won't reflow properly so the repair generally won't last long.
Simply 'rubbing' the resistors to temporarily fix this issue is not a good idea. You will be pulling the unit down and repairing it immediately.
See this guide link below (under 'Sources and Related Links') for a correct do-it-yourself repair, or use a search engine to find a service to professionally repair your display. Repairs and sometimes replacement modules can be found on large auction sites (note that replacement displays will sometimes have the same issue) If your vehicle is under warranty, take it to a dealership and don't attempt any repairs yourself.

How many miles per gallon does a 1999 Toyota Tacoma 2.4 L get?
I can only remember checking my mileage one time and it was basically all on a 4-lane highway. I used the cruise and went 5-7 mph over the posted 65 mph speed limit and averaged just a hair under 29 mpg. That was with the headlights and radio on, too.
What do you do if your Lighter fuse keeps blowing each time you replace it on your 1998 Tacoma?
Anytime a fuse blows, or a circuit breaker trips, indicates an excessive current [measured in Ampheres (Amps)] flowing in the circuit. This is an abnormal condition, and could be hazardous which is why fuses or circuit breakers are installed in electrical circuits. These safety devices are designed to cut off the electricity to prevent damage to the system, or in a worst case scenario, a fire. When repeated fuse blowing, or breaker tripping, occurs, you must troubleshoot the circuit to find the cause of the overload or short, and then remove/repair the cause before a new fuse can remain in place without blowing.
What is the estimated cost for a new starter for a 1999 Toyota Tacoma?
Well, I'm about to have mine changed. And they're estimating it at $450. Ugh.
Howdy Motorheads, I just bought a remanufactured starter by Ultima for my '99 Taco V6 at O'Reilly Auto Parts. It was remanufactured in Mexico. It will be $100 plus some tax after I return the core. My local mechanic uses the same one so I suspect it is AOK.
I just now got the old one out. A difficult and sometimes frustrating job. Removal took me 4 days working on and off due to summer heat. I had to split the old starter in two to get it out. There is very little working room on the V6 4WD model. I posted removal procedure here on WikiAnswers on a separate question.
If the $450 includes a Toyota remanufactured starter I just might go for it. Toyota's remanufactured starter was $220 at the dealer. I suspect their remanufacturing procedures are under greater quality controls than most.
