How do you get the drum off of the back wheel of a 91 Toyata Tercel to change the brake shoe?

If the brakes are worn and have worn a groove in the brake drum, you won't be able to remove the drum without first backing off the brakes. At the bottom of the inside of the backing plate you should see a slot. Use a small pry bar or a screwdriver to back off the adjuster.

Where can I find a manual transmission for a 1994 3.1L beretta?

1994 3100 engines (and all 3100 engines, for that matter) never came mated to a 5-speed from GM. You will need to make all necessary modifications and installation yourself. Any 5-speed from an earlier V6 Beretta/Corsica (1988-1993 2.8L or 3.1L MPFI), Cavalier/Sunbird, Grand Prix, etc. will bolt up. I recommend a Getrag, if you can find one in a yard. Note: You will have issues with the SES/Check Engine light coming on, due to the ECM no longer finding the electronic component of the automatic transmission. This cannot be cleared on a 1994 or 1995 Beretta.

Who do you replace rear wheel bearings on 1996 tercel?

On my 1988 Toyota Tercel I cleaned off spark plugs and battery the engines turning over but it just doesnt start any ideas?

Check the ignition coil or maybe the distributor cap. See if you are actually getting spark to the first plug by taking it out, reattaching the spark plug wire, then set it against the block while trying to restart it. If it spaks, the coil or cap shouldn't be bad. The last thing to do is to make sure the fuel pump is working. See if you can hear it coming on by turning the key on without starting it. You should hear a whirring near the trunk. If you don't, you probably have a bad fuel pump. Good Luck!!

What are the torque specs for 1991 Toyota Tercel cylinder head?

As per Haynes Manual for Toyota Tercel 1987-1994: First round (in sequence....see manual) tighten to 22 ft/lbs, then second round tighten to 36 ft/lbs, then go back in third round and tighten each bolt another 90 degrees (or a 1/4 of a turn)

Will a 1995 tercel engine fit in a 1992 tercel?

yes it will, you will need to change some of the wiring. but it will bolt right up.

Answer 2: if your gonna do a motor swap on a tercel you should def go for the 5 and not the 4. the 92 prolly has that 3ee in it... the 4 is a nice swap but it has problems. the 5 is a better swap because when they made it they had the 4 idea but mixed it witha little bit of the 3ee and there for fixed the problems that the 4 had making the 5 a much better motor to swap... i recomend that if anyone does a swap they should go for the 5....

Can't release 1998 Toyota tercel hood latch cable inside won't retract?

Try to get under the car and release it manually by pulling the latch (under the hood) where the wire comes out of the cable. This may require the removal of splashshielding and a flash light . Then once you have the hood open trace the release cable to inspect for damage or rust replace if necessary The latch it self may be the problem, if it is rusty spray it with a rust penetrent ,work it loose then oil it. Always use jack stands on a proper surface (level unbroken concrete) if you need to lift the car!

How do you replace the timing belt on a 1986 Toyota Tercel?

This job should take between 4 - 5 hrs (Depending how difficult crankshaft pulley is to remove.)

1. Disconnect battery.

2. Drain coolant, save in clean bucket if clean to reuse.

3. Remove Radiator

4. Set No 1 piston on TDC. on firing stroke. Clearance on both inlet and exhaust valves. **Do not remove when set.** Verify crankshaft pulley mark lines with 0 deg mark on lower cover.

5. Loosen water pump & alternator drive belts. Remove them from c\shaft pulley.

6. Place vehicle in 1st gear for manual, park for Auto, remove crankshaft pulley nut. Might need helper to brake front wheels, Nut is torqued at 90lbs ft.

7. Special pulley puller is needed to remove c\shaft pulley, secure and remove pulley.

8. Remove upper and lower timing covers (10mm bolts).

9. Loosen center tensioner belt pulley bolt, pull back, and tighten to hold in place.

10. Without moving crankshaft and camshaft remove timing belt guide and the timing belt.

11. Inspect, clean and replace all worn parts, & fit new seals.

Assembly is the reverse of disassembly. Torque all fasteners to specifications. Set timing belt tension correctly. Ensure valve timing is correct by checking marks line up thro 2 crankshaft revolutions
