I'm sure there are a few different answers, to your question, depending on that persons point of view. Some might say, "Why" while others might say, "Why Not" So it depends on your point of view. I have always applied a simple statement, to things like your question, and you will find out, that it pretty much, "cuts to the chase" The statement: "IS THE JUICE, WORTH THE SQUEEZE" It looks like your only commonality here, is Toyota. If your in a state, that has any kind of advanced emissions testing required for registration, you might run into a problem with them, as they are not big fans of "modified vehicles" meaning anything that was not installed at the factory. If you have a wheel barrow full of cash, and no home for it, this sounds like the project to dump it into. This reminds me of a question we had in engineering class, "Can A Brick Fly" The answer is "Yes" "If you put a big enough motor on it" So, "yes" you can put an 89 22r motor in a 86 turbo 4 runner, if you have enough money, and experience with cars in general, with some fabrication experience thrown in for good measure. Don't forget to have a few friends over when your doing this, that way you'll have a few different ideas on how to do it, and to make it enjoyable, have a lot of beer on hand, that way you have an excuse the next day, when someone says, "WHAT HAPPENED"

Sure but it won't last long stock. If you want to have forced induction you should rebuild the engine with a forged crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, etc.

You do not necessarily need to do so in most factory applications BUT on after market applications you should do 30 seconds to 3 minutes depending on the build EI size of Turbo(s) *turbos for twin, bi-turbo and compound*. The bigger the engine/Turbo setup the longer you want your timer set to burn off the oil and impurities. If your running something in the low liter range, stick to the 45-90 second zone which would be anything in the 3.5liter and lower *in my opinion*

Well, it IS possible. But it requires a lot of work other than merely slapping the turbo in there. Usually people are better off selling the car they have and then buying a new car that's already equipped the way they want it.

yes they did have a turbo. they started puting them in a few years after they switched to the 7.3 from the 6.9

It could be a completely different engine; without knowing what engines you're comparing it's hard to say. On a lot of diesels the only differences between power ratings are the fuel system, so it very well could be the fuel rail is the only difference.

First you have to find a supercharger designed for your specific application. You take the old intake manifold off and install the supercharger. While somehow finding a belt that connects from the supercharger to the camshaft. Then reprogram the computer that controls the engine for the additional airflow.

Turbo is a nickname for the proper turbocharger. Turbocharged simply means it's equipped with a turbocharger or turbo for short.

yes you can put a turbo on anycar. Some cars vary from others. Some you can push 5psi some you can do 15psi. It depends how strong your engine parts are and what there made of. Its all about how much $$

filter should be the first mod on any engine. Free flowing exhaust on a dirt bike will add HP as long as you are ok with the louder exhaust and it is allowed where you ride. Depending on the make, camshafts, stroker kits and even turbo kits are available or can be built yourself with parts available.

Once you've increased your power a rear gear change will allow you to pull a taller gear, giving you a higher top speed.

They are belt or gear driven air compressors. There are 3 types:

Roots-GMC,Wiend, B&M, Eaton

They basically move more air than the engine can consume, the extra air is compressed in the intake manifold creating boost. Instant boost, not eff. at mid/high boost <12psi. A lot larger than screw type for same power.

Screw superchargers- Whipple, Kenne bell, lysholm - looks similar to a roots but are more efficient than roots and compress air internally. Instant boost good to 25-30psi boost.

Last type is centrifugal- Vortech, procharger, rotex, etc. - mounts to the front of the engine(like a alternator) can use stock manifold, lighter/smaller than the others. They compress air internally. Their boost builds with RPM(example 2psi @ 3000rpms, 4 @4000, 6@5000, 8psi at 6000rpms). Can use air/air inter cooler like a turbocharger, other only have air/water inter coolers avail. Most can run max boost levels comparable to screw type(20-30psi) but some newer larger units can run up to 50psi.

It refers to the throws of the crankshaft/distance the piston moves. It usually is compared to the bore of the engine. An example a 302 4"bore x 3"stroke is a short stroke motor, by comparison a 5.4L ford v8 3.552" bore x 4.165" stroke.

im not sure what u mean...but i guess u mean is it better to run intercooler with your turbo setup on a particular engine...yes the intercooler will aid in cooling drastically over a non intercooled engine...think of it as a/c or non a/c in your house u want the cold cold air if possible
