If you quit your job because of racism can you collect unemployment?

Only if you can provide documentation indicating you tried every avenue to remediate the situation to no avail, and that the racism effected you in such a way you could no longer perform your job. Because most companies deny the existance of racism in their organization, the major barrier for you is providing proof that racism existed.

If a teacher only gets on to certain people is that racism?

I think you mean the teacher gets onto certain people in the sense of enforcing discipline on those students more than others; and I think you mean to ask whether that is RACIST.

It might be racist, but from only this much information, there is no way to tell.

What is the political meaning of a racist?

Why are governments cracking down on racism and crime?

The governments are cracking down on racism and crime because if these social malaises are allowed to continue unabated, these will create severe law and order problem. Not only that, racism is a crime against humanity. Other social crimes are better looked after by the Police administration. Why do police allegedly target racial minorities on accusation of drug laws?

Minorities tend to come from communities and areas that are more violent. As a result, there is a more intensive police presence in those areas because of the violent crimes, it is an allocation based on the overall likelihood of violent crime -- not just drug offenses. When the police are already mobilized in an area, they are more likely to make arrests of the people in that area, which is described by the higher rate of arrests of minorities for drug offenses.

We can see that minorities in wealthier neighborhoods, for example Latinos or East Asians in the suburbs, do not get targeted, showing that it is where the person lives that is much more important than what race/ethnicity the person is.

Why do communists try to exploit racism?

This answer assumes that we are talking about the Cold War.

Communists historically have not had a problem with race; they fight ideologically. A non-communist is the enemy of a communist no matter what race he is and a communist is a brother of a communist no matter what race he is. However, most capitalist societies have inequalities that do run along racial lines, leaving a number of races feeling disaffected in their home countries. A perfect example of this would be the African-American population in the United States. As is typical in spycraft, you target individuals who are more susceptible to conversion to your ideology. For example, an African-American who was disaffected because of the rampant racism in the US in the 1950s and 1960s would be more prone to accepting a Soviet Communist message that teaches true equality for all communists than a White man who is generally has a more favorable view of the United States government.

What sort of racism happened during the Australian gold rush?

People of all races, nationalities and ethnicities of the human race flocked to the Australian colonies and goldfields in search of instant wealth - either searching for gold or supplying the miners. And there were several gold rushes to different colonies over a period of 50 years.

The major discrimination was against the Chinese by Europeans on the basis of their separatism, cultural habits and diligence compared to the majority of European extraction on the goldfields. The other was by Aboriginal Australians resentful of their occupation of their lands, and by some accounts, as a food source. Some significant attacks occurred:

a. In Victoria in 1857 miners drove Chinese off the Buckland field. Police intervened and they were invited back - some returned.

b. In the Young district in 1860-61 the Chinese miners were violently driven off their claims, the New South Government restored them and military and police protection provided.

c. In North Queensland at the Gilbert River and Palmer River goldfields in the 1870s, the European miners needed police protection from the Chinese miners as well as the other way round. The Chinese were also driven off by Aboriginal Australians who resented their taking over their land.

The Colonial governments, pressured by the working class whose jobs were seen to be under threat, were also concerned about the influx of what they thought of as an upsurge of alien people, organised by Chinese recruiters in China in a similar way to the large business profits in shipping migrants posing as 'refugees' of today. The governments levied entry taxes on Chinese.

How is Jap racist when its no different to Britt?

Britain has equality laws which make it illegal to discriminate against anyone because if their race, creed, religion etc. Japan has no such laws and although there is a degree of racism in Japan, the Japanese people are so polite that it is unlikely that foreigners would notice it.

The term "Jap" was used in a derogatory manner during WW2 when tensions in regards to those of Japanese descent were very high. Referring to someone as a Jap was roughly the same as referring to a black person as the n word. The term "Brit" on the other hand, is not viewed as derogatory....at least not to the extent some terms are. The United States and Great Britain have been allies for a long time and were so in WW2. So the short answer is that "Brit" tends to be a term of endearment whereas "Jap" is a derogatory term.

What is social racism?

Social Darwinism and social racism is not the same concept. Social Darwinism - the term (simplified) means vizhivanie in kaprinka without any help from the state, but the state does not intend to destroy you as a person. Ie a person has the right to be as poor as well as rich. Social racism is a more sophisticated policy aimed at the destruction of one group (usually the ruling) of the other groups of the society in order to capture material or other benefits. Example. Social Darwinism in the state will be forced to send and FREE armiyu.Libo go for free money or whether serve the poor. Social racism - no one will ask you to just take away the needy children in the army without pay, at the same time, children's Elite Law frees from military service. Besides, if the CP power yavyaetsya closed Clan (caste) for others.

Why are some people racist in the US South?

Because slavery was so widely accepted in U.S. south during the 1700 & 1800's unfortunately the racism from that period still exists today. Blacks were considered property by plantation owners who depended on them as their workforce who were unpaid.

Racism is pasted down from generation to generation. Unfortunately, this ignorance is not exclusive to the south...

1970s racism period in Australia?

There has always been racism in Australia. before the late 1970's most of the immigrants that came into Australia were at least reasonably white looking. However after Australia's involvement in the Vietnam war there was a huge influx of Asian people. And the you would not have to listen for long to hear a lot of racist comment. Even me I came to Australia from the Netherlands an am as white as the driven snow, I learnt to speak English within a year and could speak and understand it better then average within another 6 months with a bit of an accent, that was enough to be given a hard time by the average Auzy. The treatment the aboriginals got in those days was hardly better then today. The only difference there is in regards to racism is that we don't speak about it however it is still definitely rife.

Why are black guys so ignorant?

Overall, they are not. That said, when it does occur, it is a combination of lack of educational opportunities, legacy, peer pressure, and local culture.

For years, African-Americans were denied educational opportunities. There were even laws forbidding teaching African-Americans how to read and write. When education first became legal for African-Americans, the schools were unsafe, and often of lower quality than schools where Caucasian students attended. Segregation kept Black students out of higher quality White schools.

As the fight for civil rights developed, some people of color equated education with "acting White." African-Americans who could speak clear English using proper grammar were viewed with suspicion and considered sell-outs. Even today, African-Americans are physically attacked on occasion by other African-Americans because of their intelligence and ability to verbally express themselves. Males face this pressure more than females.

Now, the question is particularly about males. Somewhere along the line, education and Caucasian culture became associated with effeminacy or weakness in the minds of some African-American men. Book smarts became known as something that people who are not street smart do because they are too weak to do otherwise. The struggle to survive in a tough, racist world devalued education in their minds. Some even began to connect intelligence with gender or sexual orientation. The more intelligent and self-empowered someone is, the less sex they might have have with members of the opposite sex. Since reproduction means creating more people who are similar to you and loyal to your cause, then those who didn't reproduce were seen as sell-outs or traitors in a day that equated sex with fighting racism.

Even today, there is incredible peer pressure among African-American men, and such men living in tough environments still put much more emphasis on physical strength and survival than on intellect. They have more education than those who came before them, since more educational opportunities are available, but they might not value education nor have as much desire for it as they could have. These lingering attitudes seem to partly explain the gender divide and why Black women are more likely than in the past to date other races. They lack the pressures that the men face and look to men who have attitudes and values closer to their own.

What did Abraham Lincoln do to stop racism or slavery?

When Lincoln stood firm his anti-slavery stand and the Confederacy refused to return to the Union, the Civil War brought out and Lincoln was determined to win because winning would force the Confederacy back into the Union and could outlaw slavery. In 1862, he established the Emancipation Proclamation in which he gave freedom to all slaves in the Confederate states that did not return to the Union by the New Year in 1863. Then, when the war ended in 1865, he promoted the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment, which made it unconstitutional and therefore illegal for slavery to exist in the United States.
