What will cause your car not to turn over?

When you say, that it won't "turn over", it is assumed that the engine will not crank when you attempt to engage the starter. If it's cranking but the engine isn't starting the following doesn't apply. If it's not cranking... Usually it's battery, alternator or battery terminals. If that isn't the problem start checking the neutral lockout, the keyswitch or the starter and/or solenoid.

Acura integra Wont start in cold or hot weather?

The fuel pump relay assembly is notorious for not working when the weather gets hot. This is especially true when it is hot and sunny, which increases the temperature inside the car. This affects the relay as it is found in the dash. The relay is sometimes referred to as the "main" relay.

Main relay location and removel for Acura Integra 1993?

From what I've learned so far the main relay is located in the dash to the left of the steering wheel. A 10mm bolt holds it in place and should look brown in color. I haven't swapped mine out yet, but just found a few forums diagnosing the issue. My issue is that the car will turn over but won't fire if the interior of the car is warmer than 90 degrees. A few minutes with the windows down usually helps. From what I've read the main relay is a way to fix the issue. The actual issue is called the fuel pump relay which is built into the main relay so much more efficient to just change the main relay. I'll be doing mine tonight. Apparently it takes teensy tiny hands to get to this part so be ready for cuts and bruises.

How do you locate the PCV valve on a 2000 Chrysler-Plymouth Neon 2.0L OHC?

When you are looking at the engine from the front of the car...It is on the right side of the valve cover. It has a tube that goes down to your intake. It will need a wrench about 3/4" or so. It will unscrew from the cover. Good luck! July24/05

Can you replace a b18 engine and 5 spd tran with b20 enginetran combination Does b20 come with cable clutch?

you can use the same exact transmission for both engines. they mount up direct and will not cause any problems. the B18 and B20 engines are a direct swap for the most part, just plug and play. but basically if you have the B18B ecu and b18b tranny, intake manifold, distributer and so on.. you can swap everything over

You changed the brakes last week and now are having a problem with the brakes locking up on us The car came to a complete stop on the highway today you have bleed the brakes what else could be wrong?

Check your brake caliper pistons for seizing in their bore. Remove the brakes again and see if the piston compresses steadily under minimal pressure. Determine whether front or back due to discoloration of the surface of the rotors-blue means heat and that will determine front vs rear.

Where is the speed sensor on a 94 integra?

speed sensor is located next to the throttle body

How do you replace the alternator on a 1989 Acura Integra with AC?

Obviously, the first step is to disconnect the battery.

You'll need to lift the car somehow (either a lift or proper jack stands) and remove the front left wheel. You'll also need to remove the left half shaft (drive axle) as well. If the car is a 5 speed, the transmission oil will drain out when you remove the axle - if it's automatic, you may lose some fluid, but not much.

Once the axle is out, the alternator is at the bottom of the engine bay near the firewall, on the drivers side. It should have 2 bolts holding them on (I believe they're 12mm). Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the wires on the alternator.

An easier method would be to unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall and slightly (SLIGHTLY!) push it to the side, being careful not to damage the lines, and removing the alternator from the top. I don't remember if you'll have enough clearance on an 89 to do this or not; I know on 90+ it has to come out from the bottom.

To reinstall, reverse the steps. Don't forget to top off your transmission fluid after you're done.

Answeron a 91 integra you can remove it from the top by removing the master cylinder.. although i had to remove it completely including removing brake lines from the master cylinder, which required me to bleed the brake lines.. but easier than pulling the halfshaft off AnswerAfter reading all the posts on replacing Integra Alternators yesterday,I went with the last two posts for a 1990 Integra GS.However,on my 1989,I could only remove the lower portion shield on the wheel well which is plastic. The upper portion is metal and not easily removed. This gave me enough access to the lower bolt,to remove nut and also to align holes on installation(very tight fit, both for removal and installation).I had to pry the alt.off the bottom bracket and slowly tap it in for installation, then align the bolt hole with a podger or round screwdriver.I was also able to wiggle the alternator in and out thru the bottom after removing the oil filter(killing two birds with one stone as car was on jacks). So I was ablt to do it without removing anything except the oil filter.Hope this helps. AnswerI was able to remove the alternator on the 89 Acura integra without removing the wheel, halfshaft or mastercylinder. The top adjustable mounting bolt can be reached from above by moving aside the cooling line to the waterpump. The bottom bolt can be reached from the underside. Both Bolts are 12mm and very hard to reach but not impossible. After you have removed these bolts loosen the 14mm bolt holding the sliding mout in place, this will allow you to swing the mount up giving you the cleareance to lever the alternator out of the very tight bottom mount. Afterdisconnecting the alternator you can remove the oil filter and it will just barely fit past and drop out the bottom. It is still a pain but not nearly as much as removing the halfshaft or mastercylinder. AnswerI removed the left tire and bottom molding to have better access. I followed other instructions to take the alternator out, but what wasnt explained was how to squeeze the damn thing out of the bottom. DO NOT TAKE OUT THE AXLE! It can be done! The oil filter has to be removed for my procedure.

With the alternator coming towards the center of the car, you want the supporting brace on the alternator pointing down, the pulley wheel to the right of the car, and the adjusting hole up. From under the car, coming in from the left wheel, go to the center of the car. Looking up to the oil filter threads, there is the left axle to the right of the space and some hard tubes attached to the firewall on the left. The alternator will have to pass those hard tubes and the axle. It seems impossible, but it is a tight squeeze. There is a small bend in the axle and there is a joint with several bolts on the firewall; the alternator will have to pass between these critical points.

With the alternator coming towards the center, you want to rotate the alternator so that the pulley ends up pointing down and the adjusting hole out to the right of the car. The alternator has a circular cage that will have to rotate between the critical point. Imagine the alternator as a clock, with the adjusting hole at 12; there is a knob on this cage at about the 10 o'clock position. This knob must pass to the right side (of the car) of the nuts on the firewall.

If this is confusing, just remember to rotate the alternator with the pulley down and adjusting hole eventually pointing to the right of the car. Don't be afraid to pull it past the hard tubes, but dont get impatient. The alternator will feel somewhat tight, but be patient and work it through the critical point. If you get hung up, do the procedure backwards with the new alternator.

We removed an 87 alt without removing the axle of brake MC but it was a REAL STRUGGLE (20 minutes). It scrapes all the way out. We had to loosen the head pipe that bolts to the manifold for a little extra space to remove the alt. The instructions above are confusing but we would have never attempted this if it were not for this persons idea. We will put in the new alt. tomorrow and try to photograph the alt. orientation as we slide it in place. Can we post photos?

Will a civic transmission fit a b series motor?

If by "Civic transmission" you mean a D-series transmission then no, it is not compatible with the B-series engine.

If the Civic has a B-series transmission then, oviously, it will work. All 5-speed B-series transmissions are compatible with all B-series engines.

Installed new radiator drove around the block engine overheated and now will not start?

You need to bleed the coolant system--follow the upper left radiator hose to the engine block, get a 12mm wrench, with the car running, unscrew the nut with a hole on top and loosen it a half turn till coolant starts seeping out. Retighten nut. With the car turned off and engine cooled down, check coolant level in radiator and overflow tank.

What is the best way to remove and install an alternator from a 1990 Acura Integra GS?

My Haynes manual says to remove the lower CV joints axle. This means removing the drivers side wheel and draining the tranny. This is an unceessary pain.

I unhooked the brake fluid reservior and undid the master cylinder and tied a rope thru the bolt of the alternator to hoist it up then it came up rather easily.

Bleeding the brakes was a small job compared to the lower method.

This job is foolish hard, Honda did not think it through. Yes you have to take out the half shaft and the brakes , lower ball, full shaft, the whole drivers side, .. But you don't need to bleed anything.. thats foolish . the only reason the holf shaft hase to come out .. is " the alt is just to big it will not go down or back up with out the shaft out. other than that you manual will show you the rest. Its' the same one I have

to replace an alterantor on this car is a pain in the you know what!! sounds like b.s. but this is what you do. 1-take front driverside wheel off

2-you have to take the drive shaft out of trans.(it takes a 30mm socket w/BREAKER BAR)believe me, this is for the bolt in the center of rotor you'll see it. 3-there is the sway bar and a couple of other things in the way you need to loosen to get out of the way(not necessarily take them off)

4-under the oil filter there is a bracket(3bolts) which holds the cv shaft in place(its part of the shaft) loosen those and once everything else is loose you should be able to pull the cv shaft out. trans. oil will leak be ready(be sure to have alternator already loose when you pull the shaft so you can pull shaft drop alternator throw the new one up there and replace shaft with spilling less oil as possible(ATF-Z1 find it at honda or acura dealer $4)

5-replace everything and have fun best of luck any questions email me cwa702@yahoo.com

I replaced my altenater with out removing the axle. There is a mount that it is connected to the engine block with 3 bolts, if you remove the small mount it will slide out. It took me 2 hours to figure out which way to take it out, but only 10 minutes to put it in. You still have to take the front wheel off.

The last poster is correct. It is not necessary to remove the axle or the brake cylinder. Undo the two alternator mounting bolts and the electrical wiring. Remove the left front wheel. Remove the plastic shield on the fender. If the bolts just spin, use a sharp object to hold the plastic anchor while you remove the bolts. Cut the tyraps holding the rubbber vibration damper on the axle and slide it fully forward towards the wheel. Remove the bolt at the bottom of the suspension fork to allow the fork to move forward. Remove both alternator mounting brackets (the top one may not be necessary - try leaving it on). It may be necessary to remove the front motor mount and lower the motor. I had already done this in hopes I could drop the alternator out the bottom. You can't. Now the alternator will slide out towards the wheel. If it still jams, bend the fender metal slightly with your biggest pliers. Good time to change the oil - the filter is suddenly quite accessible. Thanks, Honda - nice design work. Alan

After reading all the posts on replacing Integra Alternators yesterday,I went with the last two posts for a 1990 Integra GS.However,on my 1989,I could only remove the lower portion shield on the wheel well which is plastic. So I was ablt to do it without removing anything except the oil filter.I know this post is for a 1990,but I wanted to share my experience. .

Hello. You are all wrong. Yes the alternator will come out the bottom of the car. Undo the 3 bolts that the one guy was talking about on the vibration damper for the cv axle. Remove the little shield that covers your power steering lines, it is on the drivers side of vehicle. Last, remove a long screw/bolt directly under the oil filter. Undo the alternator. You will have to do some fancy maneuvering of the alternator. but it will pop out from the bottom. Just did it yesterday. The stabilizer bar kind of gets in the way but pulling on the alternator when it is in the right position, but it will slide past it. Be ready for the alternator to come crashing down on your chest if you don't hold on to it well enough.
