Alternators

On this you have a generator and a voltage regulator, To test the gen start the motor & test the voltage between the two post where the wires connect with a 12 vt meter, you should have 12 or more volts. with the reg I would just replace it. If replacing the reg Be sure to polerize this system. All you have to do is take a jumper wire and touch one end to the field post on the reg and touch the other end to the bat post on the regulator just so it sparks a little bit.

The clock spring is part of the Air bag system. It keeps the connection on the air bag while turning the steering wheel. To get to it you MUST DISCONNECT the battery first. This is a must. Then take the air bag from the center of the steering wheel. The bolts are on the back of the steering wheel. Remove the lower cover at the ignition switch. unplug the wires going to the steering wheel. That is the clock spring wiring. When you remove the steering wheel the clock spring is right there. Dealing with the air bag is DANGEROUS if you are not familiar with this stuff spend the money to have it fixed. Your safety is more important than saving a couple of dollars. Call your local dealer or go online to find the price of the clock spring. I don't know how much it cost.

If it is the same 3800 engine as the 1993 Lesabre--very simple. Alternator is right on top of the engine. Loosen the serpentine belt ( tensioner) - remove the mounting bolts that hold the alternator on the bracket- remove the wire connections.

1. The first thing that you need to do is to disconnect the two wires that are connected to the back of the alternator. 2. Loosen and remove the upper bolt for the adjustment on the alternator. 3. Loosen the lower alternator bolt so that you can take the belt off of the alternator. 4. Move alternator forward so that you can remove the belt. 5. Take the lower bolt out and remove alternator from below. 6. To reinstall repeat steps 1 throw 5 in reverse.

Start the car and disconnect the negative battery cable. If the car dies, the alternator is typically bad... but, to be on the safe side, take it to your local parts store, like Autozone. they test them for free, and will leave no mistake about it.

You will need to remove the belt from your 2002 VW Jetta alternator. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new alternator.

I think you will find that it is a fuseable link, located in the engine compartment fuse box

The alternator fuse on a Lexus is located in the rear of the engine compartment. It is housed in a water tight box along with many other vital engine fuses.

I own a 1995 Rodeo V6 and in the winter of 2008-2009 the heater stoped working, I replaced the thermostat and I got heat right away, Alternators go out usually when you have extra stuff added like amplifiers, I did replace mine but only as a prev maitanence.

Start the vehicle up and place a volt meter on the battery. Turn the headlights and heater on if the meter drops below 12.5 volts the alternator is weak or going bad. If meter is unavailable start vehicle turn lights on and remove psitive cable off of battery. If the cars dies alternator is bad... You might want to check inline fuses and fuse block to check for blown circuits before removal

it's in the engine compartment drivers side towards the front behind the battery you will see a fuse box remove the top cover and trace the fuse down using the diagram on the inside cover it's usually a 7.5 amp fuse

I just had my alternator replaced on my 1990 Honda Accord and the final bill was $315.

if it is anything like my 2002 Kia Optima V6. I had to remove the axle shaft remove the upper motor mount and then put a jack under the engine and raise it about an inch. this gave me enough room to remove the alternater. If you are not handy working on cars I suggest you find a good kia repair facility and let them do it. Because you have to tear the whole suspension apart.

Look it up on the one installed

On the newer models you just need to remove the belt, disconnect the connector on the backside of the alternator, remove the two bolts and then reverse the process. You will need a ratchet to relieve the tension on the belt via the tension pulley. Always disconnect the battery first!

facing the front of your truck your alternater is located on the right bottom side of your motor. first you should un hook your + battery cable then take the belt off you alternater then you will need to take the 2 bolts out that holds it on or maybe ther is 3 its been a while cant remember exacly then you can pull it out a little to get you wires off hope this helps

It has a serptine belt that goes around the alternator and water pump etc. And in fromt of the radiator you will see a pully with a bolt on it that is the belt tentioner its spring loaded take a box wrench and pull up on it to take off the belt and take the bots off the alternator and replace and repeat the steps in reverse order to put the belt back on.

The alternator is connected to the front of the engine. It is on the upper left corner, driven by the serpentine belt.
