Is it illegal to drive a vechile without a rear bumper in California?
In California, it is generally considered illegal to drive a vehicle without a rear bumper if the vehicle was originally manufactured with one. This is because a rear bumper is part of the vehicle's safety equipment and is required for compliance with state vehicle codes. Driving without it can result in a citation and may impact the vehicle's registration status. Always check the latest local regulations for specific requirements.
Can you use pledge for your car bumper to make it shine?
Using Pledge, which is primarily a furniture polish, on your car bumper is not recommended. While it may create a temporary shine, it can leave a residue that attracts dirt and may not be suitable for automotive surfaces. Instead, it's best to use products specifically designed for car detailing to achieve a lasting shine and protect the finish.
Will a 2004 bumper also fit a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse?
NO, the fog light setup looks different. To know for sure, you have to take both of the bumpers and match up the bolt patterns and make sure it will all line up correctly. But to me it looks like there are some significant differences between the years and it won't bolt up right and flow with the rest of the car. Hope this helps.
Is there an easy way to loosen the rusty bolts on the front bumper bracket of a Jeep Cherokee?

What to use to shine your car?
Aside from the standard storebought wax shines there are other ways to shine your car, The first thing you need is a good paint job on your car, if it is faded then purchase a product called a 'compounding' it is a very fine grit that will remove any oxidized paint (faded paint) from the paint surface. this alone will make it shine but it will need protection from the sun, dirt, etc. this can be done with any good wax. After all this work to get your shine on the car the one thing to remember is to keep it clean by washing it often, but of course the washing will remove the wax you put on it. so keeping the shine is hard work. in times past, chauffers who had to wash and wax the vehicles they drove had a 'trick' for keeping the shine on the car. when washing the car they put a cup of kerosine in the bucket of water they washed the car with. This left the car with the 'shine they wanted' but a word of caution if you try this: first it is flammable before it dries, then there OS the 'odor' of the kerosine and the kerosine can soften the paint so this would not be one that I would do very often, maybe only for special occasions because the shine especially on black paint is unbelievable! They is another benefit in using kerosine on your car, is that it will help prevent rust.

Each truck and jeep were usually marked on the bumper with an abbreviated designation of the unit followed by the vehicle number. Thus 85-337I is an abbreviation for 85th Infantry Division, 337th Infantry Regiment, Co. I. WTF is probably an abbreviation for a Task Force. When the army was on the move, a smaller force was organized that included combined armor, infantry and artillery that was able to move quickly. These task forces were usually named after their commander. I would only be guessing on the name of this task force. If you had a date or a place, then it might help to identify this unit. Refer to a history book or the US Army's History of WW2 (also the website for Center for Military History) and you may find the reference to such as Task Force. I found it. Western Task Force
How long should it take to fix a hood bumper one light in the front and a radiator?
Should be able to replace all these in half a day if the parts are available. They'll probably take another half day to repaint the hood then let it cure for 24 hours. If the hood, bumper, and radiator are all damaged, there are porbably some other parts that are bent or broken, too, like supports, brackets, the grill, that may take a while to straighten or replace.

How do car bumpers prevent damage or injury to passengers?
Bumpers were initially intended to prevent damage to the vehicle, not the occupants.
This is why older cars (1980 and earlier) seem to have bumpers that look more like "bull bars".
These days they are more intended to prevent injury to pedestrians. In the case of a vehicle/pedestrian collision the bumper is made of plastic, and backed by some form of collapsible material such as polystyrene. This more likely to deform in a controlled manner and minimise (as far as possible) injury to the pedestrian.
The "protection of the occupants" is given over to carefully designing sections of the vehicle to "collapse" under impact and absorb energy (crumple zones), while designing other sections of the vehicle to maintain their shape and protect the occupants (passenger compartment).
This is one reason why even a low speed impact can cause extensive damage: The crumple zone did what it was designed to do, and "collapsed" while at the same time preventing damage to the more important part of the vehicle containing the occupants.
This effect can easily be seen in Formula 1 vehicles. A car hits something, and seems to fly apart, only to (Hopefully!) leave a small section of the vehicle intact containing the driver.
The car has been designed to "fly apart on demand" as the "Flying apart" absorb the energy of the impact, leaving the much stronger "cockpit" intact.
The reason for this approach to design is as follows.
During an accident/impact one major cause of injury is "rapid deceleration." (slowing down very quickly. It hurts when you hit you head on a wall, but it does not hurt when you hit a mattress at the same speed.)
By designing parts of the car to "crumple" you are in effect adding a "mattress".
Also a great deal of attention is given to controlling how the "crumple zones" crumple/deform.
A second cause of injury is "intrusion of foreign objects". So consideration is given to ensure that the passenger compartment is not penetrated by other parts of the vehicle.
For example, It is very common for there to be some form of "locking device" (for want of a better word) at the rear of a hood/bonnet to prevent the bonnet coming off, and going through the windscreen/wind-shield and decapitating the occupants.
