What would cause my VW golf to cut out whist driving

WHAT TYPE OF CODES ARE YOU LOOKING FOR,SOME CAN BE ACCESSED BY PRESSING AND HOLDING THE OFF AND WARMER BUTTONS {AT THE SAME TIME}ON YOUR AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL PANEL.THIS WILL GIVE YOU SOME CODES FOR PCM,IPC,ACP, SDM,TCS OR RSS. BUT ITS A LONG DRAWN OUT WAY TO SOLVE WHATEVER PROBLEM YOUR HAVING WITH THE CAR. THE BEST WAY IS TO STATE WHAT KIND OF PROBLEM YOUR HAVING THEN ASK FOR THE POSSIBLE SOLUTION. SOME CODES ARE ACCESSED BY A SCANNER SOME BY THE METHOD STATED ABOVE.ALSO THERE SEEMS TO BE A DIAGNOSTIC CODE FOR EVERYTHING ON THE CAR. IF YOU ONLY WANTED THE CODES FROM THE BOOK THERE ARE TOO MANY TO TYPE IN FOR ME.SO IN CLOSING,I BELIEVE YOU SHOULD JUST STATE THE PROBLEM AND WAIT FOR AN ANSWER GOOD LUCK PAUL G

hey, I'm not sure if this will help but i have a 1991 Cadi deville and it looks like you have to remove the door panal and unbolt the mirror and dissconect it, it should be the same, on pretty much all cars you have to remove the door panal to get to the mirror and it looks like Cadillac hasn't changed much on stuff like this, they just chaged the look and style of the door panal, any should be an easy fix but take your time and be easy with it, stuff can brake,good luck on your cadi, you out.

I can only think of one reason you would have the vacuum pump and that is because you have a diesel engine in your caddy. The Oldsmobile diesels they used in these cars had vacuum pumps located in the rear of the engine in the same location you would expect to see a distributor. The vacuum pump was used to operate the cruise control and the climate control system. It also released the parking brake when you moved the shift lever and provided vacuum to the transmission.

It should be possible and done with stock parts, because some vehicles, like 1994 de came with either.

i own a 99 rl and i have 20x8.5 on mine the only problem i have is a lil rubbing in the back fender with some small mods. you should be able to clear that's prob.

undo battery cables from battery and hold posotive and negative together for 5 minutes or so

Torque converter going bad.

Disconnect the negative cable (the black one) from the battery, and wait about 10 minutes. This should reset the codes. '96 and newer have OBD II, that has a port you connect a diagnostic tool to so the codes are reset by the device.

Speed Sensitive Suspension. You will need to check the computer codes to see what the problem is.

Fuel filter 1986 Cad Deville It is under the car, I believe under the drivers side of the car, right below the front door mounted to the floor on the bottom side on brackets. If not there under passenger door. Get a flash light & look under car. Jack up vehicle, you will see it disconect it on both sides of the filter with the right size open end wrench. A little fuel will leak out. When you disconnect it keep it parallel with the car to minimize fuel spilling, easy job. It is very close to door panel. Not far under car, less that a foot from door. If your car has an electric fuel pump it is best to remove the fuse that services the fuel pump and start the engine. Let it run until it dies to remove the pressure from the fuel system.

thermostat is located in the housing at the end of your radiator hose where it connects to engines water pump. The connection for the upper hose goese to the engine block where as the bottom hose goes to the pump and that is where you will find the thermostat(at the end of the water pump). I found it a little easier to take the air filter out and disconnect the top hose going to the engine block. I also removed the engine mount on the right side. Take the two bolts out of the end of the thermostat holder and the stat will be right in there. Remember to let the engine run with the cap of to get the air out of the engine. The stat should open at 180-190. The fans come on at 225 and the warnings come on at 166 with the limp home mode that switches the engine from 8 cylinder to 4 to decrease to temp. The engine can than be ran for an additinal 50 miles to safety.

someone said HELLO! goto autozone....an advanced auto worker and i looked through the repair manual today and couldn't find anything about where vacuums hook up on the sfi engine...try helping someone instead of being a smart arse ok?

TAKE OUT THE OLD SPARKPLUGS AND PUT IN NEW ONES
