Car Shaking Problems

Car shaking problems are usually the results of mechanical problems. Out of adjustment tires or suspension will make the car shake after reaching a certain speed. Warped brake rotors will also make the car shake when it’s slowing down.

It is the engine that is vibrating and it is just being felt in the steering wheel. Can be a vacuum leak, or miss in the engine.

Can a bad distributor cause a car to shake?

the distributor controlls the spark, if the spark is advanced, too much, or retarded too much, yeah. it will shake, or not even run.

the distributor doesnt usually go out, out of the blue.. if you took the cap off to check gap, or clean it, then put it on, and it is rough, yeah.. that may be it. but if it is out of the blue, running rough, you may want to check it for cracks, (cracks make gaps even hairline and the gaps make it run rough) you should also check the vacuum lines for cracks, and bad connections. the vacuum leaks will mess with the advancement of timing, and can also make it run rough.

but to answer the question, yes. a bad distributor can make the car shake.

Left side rear tire is choppy on inside?

uneven wear could be one of a couple of things. The tire pressure could be too high or too low. The rear alignment could be off. Or if the tires were rotated and the front end was out of alignment, then the wear will continue even though the tire is now on the rear.

Your 1992 camry's gears feel like they are kicking in way too late and are really noticeable when they do what could cause the car to jerk in such a manner especially around turns and acceleration?

It sounds like you could possibly have a cv joint slipping or both. These are the drive lines that connect to your front wheels they are more prone to slipp when making corners and accelerating. To inspect them you can jack each side up like you would change a tire put a jack stand under the frame of the car for safety with the car off and in park with e brake on. Just reach up and grab the cv joint near where it connects into the wheel and check for sloppines hold cv joint and have a friend try to rotate wheel both directions by hand. cv joint should move in conjuction with wheel no sloppiness. Hard acceleration such as roasting the front tires usually causes this problem.

If the car shakes when in drive on an automatic transmission vehicle what could be wrong?

Kinda need more information. Is it just when accelerating, or also when idling in drive? Does it only do it at a certain rpm or speed, or when applying brakes?

What is a fouled spark plug?

Fouling spark plugs can happen when the tip temperature is insufficient to burn off carbon, fuel, oil or other deposits and causes spark to leach to metal shell...no spark across plug gap will cause a misfire. Wet-fouled spark plugs must be changed as they won't fire. Dry-fouled spark plugs can sometimes be successfully cleaned by bringing the engine up to the operating temp.

Why are your spark plugs miss firing if you just replaced them on a 2003 Toyota matrix?

There are a lot of things, first of all you need to remember why you needed to change them in the first place.

Improper gap

wires in wrong order

wires not on all the way

wires bad

coil bad

wrong plugs

another problem with engine causing misfire.

Any system can affect the complete combustion which can attribute to a misfire code, not just the plugs themselves. Fuel filter, coil pack, fuel injectors, head gasket issues, O2 sensors, catalytic converters.

Why would a car shake only at 60 mph?

your tires might not be balance, or the tires belt is broke.. and might want to have or you can check your tie rod for to much movement. All you have to do is jack your front wheels up and pull up an down on it while your tires off the ground. Its souldnt have no movement and also can check ball joints the same way but by pulling left to right.

What would cause a 1994 Buick Skylark to shake when maintaining a speed of 55-70mph?

It could be the tires out of balance, the wheels need an alignment or the steering mechanism needs service. Can also be a bent wheel, but I would suspect it is an out of balance tire.

What does it mean when the whole front end of the car shakes?

1. Your wheels are off by a huge number on balancing

2. Either steering setup or suspension setup needs work

3. Engine and tranny mounts can cause problems as well

4. Bad tires

I experienced violent vibrations while driving down the highway. I could see the trim vibrating, sun visor flipping and evrything else looked drunk!

I took it to C. Harper KIA. I had them check the entire front end, I turned out to be 3 out of 4 wheels needed balancing and either of the two tires needed replaced.

I am still driving on bad tires but I will get them replaced this Friday

This can be a warped rotor or tire out of balance. If it only happens when braking it is a warped rotor.

Why does a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport shake when applying the brakes?

The most common cause of this problem is warped brake rotors. Get it replaced soon. Whenever you replace rotors, you should replace the pads. The old pads will have conformed to the shape of the rotors, so braking efficiency and life will be down if you use them with the new rotors.

Why does the steering wheel vibrate and shake when going at higher speeds?

It could be one of the following: 1. Tires are out of balance, 2. Perhaps one or both tires may wobble. 3. Brake rotors may have warped.
