The defroster is drawing more electrical current than the alternator can produce. It could be that the belt is slipping and the battery is margianally low so that when you turn on the defroster the alternator can't keep up and the battery isn't able to provide enough current to keep the ignition operating.

The Idle control air valve on Highlanders, and other Toyota models, and other makes and models of vehicles, becomes dirty. On my Highlander, the dirty valve caused the vehicle to sometimes fail to idle on its own until it warmed up. My research shows that most of the time these valves don't need to be replaced, they just need to be cleaned. If you can locate yours, and have decent mechanical skills, you can clean it and save the cost the dealer would charge to replace one. No, dry gas is actually an additive used in fuel to protect the liquid from freezing. It is also used to restore combustion to water down fuel.

this means there is something going on with the engine. take it to a auto parts store and they will scan for the codes, for free. to tell you which curcuit its in. its a possibility that its a bad tps, or throttle cable, etc. God bless!

If your car runs fine cruising, then coming to a stop (perhaps at an off-ramp) you press the clutch, let off the gas, and the car stalls, then most likely, you have a vacuum leak from your intake manifold or low fuel pressure. This is dependent on the vehicle, of course. More information would have been more helpful in answering the question.

Cars fequently stall, especially if they are a clutch. If your car is not a clutch, iIwould have a mechanic look at it. It could be a spark plug issue, and you don't want to mess around with that.

Your electric fans have stopped working. Turn on you A/C with the hood open. If no fan is running either the fan is bad (most likely) or the relay is bad (not as likely). Y-THINK-Y

Many cars may stall because the idle air control valve has failed or is failing. Carbon build up is one of the common culprits. A dealer can correct this problem by replacing the valve and cleaning the carbon out of the engine using chemicals. I just got my 1998 Crown Victoria back from the Ford dealer, and it runs great. It was worth the $496+ dollars.

there are alot of reasons a car may stall from something as simple as a dirty air filter, or sensor to an injector pump, or electrical fault. if the check engine light is on most auto parts store will check it for free, otherwise go to a mechanic.

First thing to check is the fuel pump relay. IT could also be that big air clearner hose. If that is broken or cracked anywhere these it will cause over fuelling.

There are so many reasons, you really should provide more info. First, what kind of car is it? Is it overheating? Because it could be the vehicles computer stradegy shutting down the engine to protect it. Does the car feel like it's running out of gas? The fuel pump could be failing when it gets hot. Does the car suddenly cut off, like someone turned the key off? It could be the ignition system failing when hot.

I had the same symptoms with my 97 GTP 150,000 miles - it would start and than stall immediately in hot weather. It would sometimes start and run OK in cooler weather and than stop after driving when it got hot. Sometimes the car would run OK again after being allowed to cool off for 30 minutes. The problem got worse until I could not drive the car.

After much parts changing and $$$ spent I discovered that the fuel pump electrical circuit has an .8 ohm power resistor that was going open intermittently at high temperature. I replaced the resistor with GM PN 88951182 ($40) and it fixed the problem.

You can diagnose this problem yourself when the car won't run by disconnecting the resistor (it is in the right front wheel well) and jumping the mating connector with a paper clip. If the car runs with the jumper installed you will know that the resistor is the problem. However, the resistor and connector is hard to access so you may want to just

go ahead and have it replaced now rather than wait for it to fail again so that a positive diagnosis can be confirmed.

It sounds like you have a bad shifter cable. I had the same thing happing and i had it replaced and no proble since then. GOODLUCK

It could have something to do with your oxygen/air flow sensor

yes, get it rebuilt and buy new mufflers. you may want get a new intake, and probably up the gear ratio. maybe something around 4.10 should do it. your welcome. ps - port and polish your heads just in case. better safe than sorry.
