Your 1989 Beretta will not start it turns over and the lights all work fine?
Could be many things. This model year had weak coil packs. You might want to check that.
Answerit is possible that the fuel pump is not working or you have some bad gas that's the best i can dowolverine
AnswerTurn the key forward without turning the car on and listen for the fuel pump to "buzz" (Best if you have the door open with your foot pushing to door open/ajar switch so you don't hear the continuous "PING, PING" of the door.) If you hear the pump, pull a spark plug, reattach it to the plug wire, rest it somewhere in the engine (JUST DON'T HOLD IT IN YOUR HAND!!!) and have someone try to start the car. If you don't see a spark at the plug, spent $18 and purchase a crank sensor. More then likely your problem. AnswerI would say one of two things the coil packs ,but it is unlikley that all coil packs go bad at once,so the one I would try is the icm ignition control modual, get one from the junk yard first instead of spending a lot on new if its not it. AnswerI had the same problem. Turned out I needed to replace the coil packs and the ignition sensor.Had those replaced and the car fired right up on the first turn. Answertry a new computer id get one from the bone yard that u no is good AnswerI would try getting a code key from autozone and checking the code book for the code it gave you. I would also trie the ignition module or the computer. What is the coil pack sequence on a 4.6 L 1998 ford expedition?
Looking at the pack on the passenger side, bottom near fender is (1) on the left and (5) on the right, top of pack(6) on the left and (3) on the right. The drivers side is on the bottom left to right 4,8 and on the 7,2
Your battery on your jeep died now it won't start what do you do?
You failed to mention the year and make of the Jeep, but I will make a few assumptions. On earlier XJ and ZJ models, there was a security system that would prevent the vehicle from starting if the battery was disconnected.
I would take your ignition key and lock and unlock the drivers side door a few times and see if that resolves your issues.
Good luck!
I am assuming you have already replaced the battery and it still won't, If this is the case you have to reset the fuel pump relay and that should do the trick. Okay, what kind of question is this??? You take out the old one, go to Fleet Farm, Turn in the old one at the service desk, Go to the battery section, find the correct battery, Purchase it minus core discount, take it home, put it in, hook it up, charge it, and start the jeep. Got it under control??? -Mr. Mechanic- It is also possible that it is your alternator, but not likely. First determine if battery is charged or not. Take battery to any parts store and they should charge it for you, if not buy a new battery and that'll solve the problem. Depending on year you could try to bypass the cylenoid. Look for the starter, big round part 4 bolts attached somewhere on bottom of motor. Next to it or connected somewhere to it is the cylenoid 4 leads wires hanging off. Touch far left 2 leads with a screw driver and see if engine will try to start at all.
You can jump the starter directly to see if it turns, but most of the time it is the solinoid that has gone bad and you usually have to buy a new starter anyway since they come together. First you need to get some jumper cables and connect the positive from the battery to the positive connection on the back of the starter, it will be easy to find because its the one fat wire going from the solinoid on top of the starter to the actual motor. Second, turn the ignition and if the car starter spins and the car starts up then you know you need a new starter. There is two maybe three bolts that connect your starter. First detach batter cables, then the cables to the solinoid, then unbolt the starter and bolt the new one right up and re-attach all the cables begining with the starter.
Kinlon 200r brand new wont start no spark dont know how to fix are there any wiring issues?
it will not start with stand down.. curleycain2012
Why wont my 93 infiniti g20 start and the battery is new and nothing on the dash turns on?
We are having that problem with our 1999 G20t. My honey first had the alternator and battery checked (he removed them ad took them to Advanced Auto). Those were in great shape. We were told it could be the ignition starter switch or starter fuse. Those two parts are only available at the dealership and not too expensive if you can replace it yourself. We are looking fro pictures on the net that might show us were those are located in the car. Hope that works a little.

Seized Up... wow very bad response. Check to make sure your battery terminals are good and cleaned. Be sure also that all wires are properly connected. Re-check your installation and try it. If it clicked you may need to replace the terminal connectors with some brass ones. I always use those and they work GREAT!!!!
98 Chevrolet truck won't start after a hard rain?
Need to replace the distributor cap and rotor with a FACTORY GM CAP AND ROTOR.
Also need to check the coil and coil wire, more then likely you will have to replace coil
and mabe wire if it is not shiney and clean on the end were it goes into the coil.
This will fix your truck.
When trying to start only hear a click?
It could be,
a dead battery,
dirty or loose battery connections,
a bad starter,
the engine is seized.
What causes the the dash board to flicker and ignition to click repeatedly when trying to start car?
It sounds like a low voltage issue which could stem from a charging system issue or dirty contacts on cable ends or a battery with diminished reserve capacity or a combination of any of the above . A complete electrical system analysis is in order here .
Starter relay is broken
Why when you turn on the ac the engine start like shaking?
If the problem disappears when the shifter in placed in neutral it could be a transmission or engine mounts
It sounds like the fluid pump is out, or almost out. Having to "re-start" the engine for it to shift right is definatly an electrical problum, and is very common on these transmissions. What you are doing is reseting the transmissions T C M,{or brain} it will shift right again, until it gets a code for a problem, then it wont shift right again.
It is probably going into "limp" mode which is a safety feature for these transmissions, which may seem aggravating, but is actually to your advantage.
It will get you to take the vehical to a shop to see whats wrong, before to much damage is done.
These transmissions are actually a great invention by Chrysler, and one of the best out there if rebuilt with all the up-dates and fixes they have made over the years.
Its truley an amazing transmission if you know what goes on inside. {all electrical}
It is very hard to diagnose without hooking it up to a computer for a complete anaylsis.
I would suggest you call around to a local trans shop and ask if they have "FREE" diagnoisis, most will do this free.
They will hook up a small computer to your transmission, and it will tell the tech EXACTLY WHAT ITS DOING INSIDE, AND WHAT FAULT CODES IT IS THROWING.
You can go from there on what to do.
"PLEASE NOTE"!!!!! MOST LARGE SHOPS ; IE "AMMCO" and the like, will IMMEDITALY TELL YOU THAT YOU NEED A REBUILD... GET A SECOND OPNION!!! FROM A SMALLER SHOP.
There may be other small things that you can do to make the "fix" on your trans.
Many times its just an "in-put" out-put sensor, or a solenoid pack, or the TCM its self. These items are WAY CHEAPER than a rebuild. That's why you need to see EXACTLY WHAT THE FAULT CODES ARE.
"DO NOT JUST TAKE THE TRANSMISSION SHOPS WORD THAT YOU NEED A REBUILD"
THATS HOW MANY SHOPS WORK.... PREYING ON PROPLE WHO DONT KNOW !!!!!!
{sad , but true} below is a "very informative site that list cheap "fixes" to your transmission. I found it very helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look it over, clear down to the bottom of the page, it lists many fixes.

MY Focus 1.8tddi turns over but won't start?
In the luggage area behind one of the panels, either on the right or left, there is a little box with a red button on it. Push that button. It is the fuel pump safety cutoff relay reset. If you hit a pothole hard, or hit something while driving, it cuts the pump off.
Why would your car shut down while driving?
Could be the fuel pump. To check for sure take the air cleaner off (or the "neck" that goes to the air cleaner) and spray some carb cleaner or starter fluid in it pointing toward the motor. If it runs for a second that tells you there is a fuel delivery problem. You might want to start by checking the fuse to your fuel pump. Sometimes the obvious can be overlooked.
When my alternator went, my radio first shut off and then the car died
Losing spark, fuel or compression. The first answer regarding fuel loss is good spot to start. Other insights to this: If it cranks but doesn't start, you can eliminate the charging system mention in answer 2. IF it cranks faster than normal but doesn't start, suspect the timing belt.
Guys! One REAL common reason cars quit running while being driven is Broken Timing Belt. Pull the distributor cap and try turning the motor over--if the engine turns and the rotor in the distributor doesn't, the timing belt's your problem.
Ignition switch should be connected to a rod that runs down the steering column to the actual switch at the lower end of the column. Check to see if this rod has become disconnected or broken
How do you tell if starter or solenoid is bad?
Put a stethoscope or a plastic tube onto the solenoid, listen at it while a friend turns the starter. If solenoid clicks it is good. -Problem then is low battery or dud starter.
What could be wrong with car that cranks but wont start it has fuel and spark?
There are 4 things an engine needs to run; Fuel, Air, Spark, and Compression. Your engine isn't getting one of those 4 things.
Check the air intake for restrictions as a clogged air filter. Next verify that the injectors are actually delivering fuel to the engine by unbolting the fuel rail and pulling the injectors out a little. Have someone crank the engine and watch to see if they are spraying fuel. If that checks out, you need to get a compression gauge. Your insert the compression gage into a spark plug port and crank the engine (you need to also disconnect the ignition coils).
I can't give you the exact compression specification without knowing the year of your car, but you should be able to find it through an internet search or by contacting the service department of a VW dealership. If the compression is off, then the timing chain might be broken, the heads could be shot, or the piston rings need to be replaced.
Could be: Seized engine Weak battery loose or corroded battery cables Bad starter solenoid
Bad starter Bad neutral or clutch safety switch
What if the car makes a squealing sound from a cold start?
That is very likely a slightly loose serpentine or other drive belt. In colder weather belts get stiffer and slicker, fluid (as in the steering pump) gets thicker and harder to turn . If it diminishes when your car warms up, that is almost certainly the cause. - Let a mechanic hear it and diagnose it. There is also the possibility it could be a bearing worn in alternator or any other belt driven part.
My 97 cadillac catera won't start but it turns over what could it be i tried charging the battery.?
My 2000 Catera does the same and that is why I am here today searching for answers..............my suspicion is the immobilizer may be shutting off the fuel and igntion and that module I have yet to find................on another discussion it was said to be in the steering columbe under the lock barrell
