You can disconnect battery or pull the ECU fuse which is in the fusebox. The fuse will say either ECU or EFI (elec fuel injection) Pull the fuse and let it sit about 2 minutes, this will cause a reset, then plug the fuse back in or reconnect battery and that should do it. I got sick of the Check Engine Light so I pulled the instrument cluster, disabled the light permanently, and re-installed the cluster. I hate to spend money for maintaining emission controls since they don't test in Kansas. If I sell the car, I will just re-install the bulb for the engine light

It means that the traction control system is disabled. You may have manually switched it off, or the parking brake may not be fully released, or there is a fault detected in the system and a scan tool will be required to learn what fault has been detected.

It's OBDII. You can either use a codereader to check and clear the codes, or remove your negative battery terminal for 10-15 minutes. Chances are there's a problem, it would be best to have the codes checked and the problem resolved or the light will come back.

The check engine light is on because the engine control module (ECM) senses a problem with the system. Resetting the check engine light without making repairs will only set the light back on again. Drive to your local auto parts store and have them read the codes that are set and with that information they can help you determine what needs to be done to cancel the check engine light. If you turn on the ignition without starting the engine and the Check Engine light does not come on, the bulb has burnt our or has been removed. Replace the bulb.

It would be different with fuel injected vs carbureted vehicles but same principle. Usually there is a lack of fuel and too much air that causes a stall on accel. It could be traced back to a weak fuel pump or restricted fuel filter, or both (lack of fuel volume). But I think, in the real world, the most common would be a bad accelerator pump on carbs and a faulty tps on fuel injected. There is also a possibility of a bad map or maf sensor, but less likely.

You need an OBD tester to show what the problem is and to turn the light off. I believe you can lift the battery ground for a few seconds to turn the light off,but it will probably come back on.

you're better off replacing the knock sensor . it adjusts the timing automaticly by sencing any knocking sound & does the needed adjustment .

The MIL or malfunction indicator light is telling you that you have a problem with your engine operation or efficiency.

You will need to have the codes read with an OBDII code reader at a garage or auto parts store and repair whatever it indicates the problem is.

The same tool can clear the codes as well as pulling the ecm fuse or disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds but the light will not stay out until the problem is addressed.

Also clearing the codes without making the repairs will not get you to pass emissions as the system will need to go through a series of system checks before an emissions station can check it, a 2003 vehicle needs to have 6 of 7 tests complete for an emissions test to go through and it may take several days of driving to accomplish this. By that time whatever triggered the mil will show up again.

Unplug the ecu . . . which, when looking into the engine, should be on the leftside firewall. Single bolt holding the plug into it.
