Remove front shocks absorber astro van?
Jack the van up about a foot-Remove wheel- remove nut on top of shaft(a special tool may be required)-remove two bolts in bottom of shock on the under side of lower a frame. the old shock should come out through the bottom. It is likely the nut will be seized to the top of the shaft. Take a 6" to 8" socket extension with a 15mm deep socket and rock the bolt back and forth until the bolt snaps off just below the nut. If you have a dremmel tool with a cutting disk you can also sever the bolt by cutting at the base of the nut.
How do know which door is the right rear door?
As the name implies, it is the door which is on the right side of the car and the rear-most door, if there is more than one on that side.
Can a 305 engine be put into a Chevy Astro van?
This is possible
But it is about the same difficulty as 1500 hp Helicopter Turbo shaft engine. (Saw One!)
The engine bay is wide and deep enough but not long enough. So big modifications!
Stay with the 4.3 is my advice. There is some cheap hot rod stuff available.
How do you replace a serpentine belt on 95 astro van?
I have a 96 astro van and just replaced the serpentine belt after the idler pulley barring froze. never doing this before i read some on-line suggestions then went to work...it is suggested a two person job but i did it myself...it was also explained to me that at bottom left, the idler tension pulley can be adjusted to make easier the task...but i found it hard to get to the tension bolt on the lever...so i skipped it and did the following:
On the front engine compartment right above the radiator facing you as you open the hood is a sticker just to the left, indicating the belt routing. be sure to check it a couple times before you begin...i started from left to right..as you face the engine...wrapping the belt around the AC/power-steering side first..then under the idler pulley and over the alternator saving the the clutch fan pulley and main bearing pulley for last....(the belt should be groove to groove on all accessories except the idler pulley(not the idler tension pulley) and the clutch fan pulley. After you've routed the belt around all but the idle tensioner and main bearing pulley(big bottom wheel)...get under the vehicle and loop it over the idler tension wheel(little plastic wheel with a spring loaded arm)...with your right arm pull on the tensioner and from left to right begin to loop the belt under the main bearing wheel(big one ..right in front of your face at this point)push the tensioner and begin to push the big wheel to the right(HARD!) as the wheel slowly turns the belt will..slowly pull itself onto the big wheel using it as leverage it should pull the belt on. Make sure all loops look correct on the accessory pulleys and turn the engine over just for a second to make sure all is in line...see that there is no misconnected or damage...after a quick visual check...start the car again and let it run for a few minutes...as you check all the functions....if it looks, feels and sounds right you should be good to go...make sure light cluster does not indicate problems.
I read alot before i tried this...some suggestions for example said to use "a crow bar" or "breaker bar" to relieve tension while trying to slip the belt on the idler tension wheel....not a good idea, ...you cannot get a bar in the right place for leverage and slip the belt over it at the same time...*especially by your self*...also this will cause damage to the wheel itself if not careful...remember the tension wheel is plastic.
One suggestion i didn't try but sounds right is to lessen the tension on the spring using an apparent bolt located on the front on the spring arm..but again i had trouble reaching it let alone getting a good turn on it...
Hope my suggestion works..prepare to be slightly frustrated...but hang in there it can be done...i just did it.
good luck!!!
Why will your windshield wiper fluid not dispense?
Washer pump may be bad or the fuse may be blown. Also make sure the spray nozzles are open. Sometimes when waxing a car you can easily fill the small orifice with wax. Use a small stick pin to clean them out.
What is the easiest way to replace the fuel pumps in a 1987 Volvo 740?
There are 2 pumps. 1 is under the car on the drivers side and is simple to replace. unbolt the whole pump/filter assm. disconnect the hoses.( when putting it back make sure the wires are correct or it will run backwards!) The 2nd pump is in the tank! In the back of the trunk under the carpet is a access panel with 4 screws. remove the panel, there you will find a large round port with a bunch of hoses comming off it. there is also a wire harnace that goes through the wall into the trunk to a connector on the left side. Carefully remove all the hoses and undo the connector and pull it through the hole. (this is a bit hard to do through a 8" hole!) Take a large screwdriver and hammer. Tap loose the large round ring until you can turn it with your hand. The whole pump/sinding unit will pull out of the tank. it may have to be twisted a bit to get it through the port. Once out the pump is simple to replace! You may distroy the hose clamps if they are rusty, Just replace them!Good Luck!

How do I Change rear baring on axle Chevy Astro Van?
securely and safely jack up rear of van supporting both sides. A vehicle falling can Kill pay particular attention to how you support vehicle, make sure it's on a level surface, won't roll etc. If you can't safely support the rear axle assembly off the ground, hire a professional.
pull cover, drain gear oil, find holding bolt on pin, 5/16 head, remove, remove pin. push axle in and c-clip will fall out. don't push vehicle off jack stands or supports, falling vehicles can maim or kill. Remove axle, now you see bearing, check axle for damage from bearing, replace worn parts as necessary. Don't forget, lifting a vehicle off the ground can be dangerous, if you can't do it safely hire a professional.

Where is the Power Lock Relay on 1992 Ford Van?
How do i take my spar tier form under the 1992 ford E-150
Year, make, model and engine info would help but, the intake manifold gaskets are known to leak coolant on many Chevy/GMC engines.
What runs off of an ecmb fuse on a 1988 Chevy Astro that causes it to blow whenever you turn left?
ECM means engine control module (the computer), and there are two fuses, ECM A and ECM B. I think if either one blows, the engine stops running, so this must be a very annoying problem. You may have a bad wiring harness by the computer, which is located just in front of the passenger door, but I suspect it is more likely a bad sensor or wiring that goes to one of the sensors in the engine. I do not have a wiring diagram, so I do not know exactly which sensors are powered from ECMB.

Where is bank 1 sensor 3 on astro 2000?
Oxygen Sensor
Some vehicles have (2) and some have (4) O2 sensors.
When you start looking at the O2 sensors, they are normally numbered something like "Bank 1 Sensor 1" Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on the driver's side. Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor (near the frame, between the block and the cat) and Sensor 2 is near the Y-pipe (downstream of the cat).
Normally it is the upstream sensors (sensor 1) that go first. They see the harshest conditions.
You will need;
Oxygen Sensor Socket
Anti-Seized
Penetrating Oil
I have even used a small plumbers propane tank and heat it up and it help get them free.
Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or take a few hours it depends on your luck...

What does abs mean If it appears on your dashboard?
Check the 60 amp fuse in the fuse box. If missing or blown, the ABS light will be lit on the dash panel.
If the fuse is missing, it disables the anti-lock feature of the braking system. If the brakes are otherwise in working order, you will still be able to brake. ABS can be disabled this way if the ABS module is causing braking problems or if you just hate the way ABS feels. Note that a sticky front brake caliper can cause the ABS to activate at the wrong time, releasing the brakes when you wish to stop. :-o I had the fuse removed from the fuse box for this reason until the caliper was replaced.
If the fuse is blown, you will probably want to find out why. A brake specialist or auto electrician may be needed.
