Chevy Express van stop lights not working?

Answer

Check fuse Check bulbs Check stop light switch.

Chevy cargo vans have been notorious for ground wire problems in the rear light assemblies. If unable to trace grounds, install new wire to frame and problem will likely be resolved. Chevy has not to date allowed a recall on this and more than 1/2 of the vans with light problems have had the same grounding issue.

In my case, I found that thin copper straps supplied the ground. They went up the side of soft, plastic bulb sockets & the heat melted the sockets just enolugh to prevent a ground. I added my own standard, braided wires with a soldering iron, to replace the factory copper strips. My new wires go up the outside of the socket. Problem solved & it's worked for several years now.

99 astro van starts then dies in 2 seconds but run on starting fluid?

Remove the engine cover inside the van and locate the distributor. Inside the distributor is a sensor which will activate your fuel pump. Also locate the oil pressure switch which will also give power to the fuel pump. One of these should do it and both are very easy to access and replace from under the inside engine cover.

What is the layout for radiator hoses on a 1990 Chevy Astro van?

one large hose from bottom of radiator to side of water pump. other large hose from thermostat housing to top of radiator. one heater hose from water pump to heater core, I think this one has a Y in it if there is a rear heater other heater hose from heater core to somewhere on top the engine. If there is a rear heater, its return hose goes to a fitting on the radiator.

First take the battery cables off and clean BOIH ends. Then make sure there is a good ground between the engine and body--VERY IMPORTANT- Then let the jumper cables stay on for about 1/2 hour before trying to start it. If nothing it could be the starter. It needs to be checked out,./

Where to locate the pcv on 199130 aerostar van?

The PCV is on the drivers side valve cover (towards the rear of it). The air cleaner outlet tube from the air filter to the top of the motor may be hiding view of it somewhat, you should be able to reach around it to remove it. If you cannot see it, make sure if you are going by feel where it is that you don't accidentally pull anything else out by mistake.

How difficult is it to replace a ac compressor on a 96 Tahoe 2wd?

Well the compressor is not hard, I think (without looking at it) it is like 4 bolts, and a couple of connections. The problem is that most good A/C guys will tell you to replace most of the system at once or when you replace the compressor, you will have to replace most of the parts, one after the other, and perhaps eventually replace the compressor again not to far out... From what I understand... the compressor tears parts up inside, and sends them through the lines to the other parts, eventually eating each of them up.

Where are the oxygen sensors located on a 1996 Chevy Astro?

Up under the car look at the exhaust pipe. Starting from the engine, follow the exhaust pipe toward the rear of the vehicle, there will be a wire plugged in to a sensor in the pipe, before the catalytic converter, and another wire plugged in to another sensor in the pipe, AFTER the catalytic converter.

How do you keep sliding door from falling off its track of 90 astro van?

I presume you mean the outside track. Most likely, due to the year of your vehicle, your roller bearings are worn out to the point of no longer being able to stay in the track. Get a new set of bearings. Remove the trim covers inside the van where the track runs outside. Remove the right tail light assymbly and the rubber plug you will find behind the tail light. Remove the bolt under the rubber cap. Remove the bolts to the track cover found under the inside trim panels. Remove the bolt at the door latch area that holds the track cover. Remove the track cover, do not force it, just find the bolt you missed.

There are a couple of ways to proceed. I reccommend removing the circlip and driving out the pin that holds the bearing assymbly to the sliding door. Replace the worn bearings and lubricate as needed. Take the bearing assymbly to the rear of the vehicle at the track end and insert the bearing assymbly into the track and run it along the track to the door, then pin it back into the door (a helper, a jack, or any type of door support is useful here). Slide the door along the track to detect ease of operation or other problems. Reinstall track cover, tail light, and interior trim panels.

FYI, some of the interior bolts and the roller assymbly pin are difficult to get to but not impossible. Plug any hole an interior bolt could fall into during removal and installation, have a wobble extension, a magnetic part retriever, spare circlips, and/or spare bolts handy. You might want to use a hole cutter to get to one of the interior bolts.
