How do you replace spark plugs in a 2002 Monte Carlo SS?

Things you will Need.1.Spark Plug Socket with the rubber insert.I used a T-Handle.2.Spark Plug Wire-boot puller,Longer necked version.3.Gap Gage.4.Floor Jack.5.Anti-seige Compound.6.Racket stap7. Wet vac,slim nossle.

Let Engine cool down!!First block Back tires.Place the car in neutral.Disconnect the Negative Terminal on the BatteryPosition Floor jack under motor, have a 12-16 " 2x4 piece of wood.Leftjack up until about 4" from bottom of motor.Disconnect air intake hose.Place racket strap hook through eye hole of front motor Bracket.Have other end of racket strap fasten to some solid.Loosen and remove front motor brackets.Tight the racket strap up until eye let / or slave hole is line up with exsisting bolt hole for motor mount. Some folks use a crow bar on passageer side, motor mounts. to lift engine forward. (In addition some vehecle has a Slave hole that will enable you to place the bracket bolt though. With this there is no need for you racket strap). Be careful not to move to far forward.Snug the flooor jack up against the motor.Just to where the 2x4 touches . This just a pre-caution in case the motor drops back.Starting with the fist plug wire on the passenger side (Plug 1) use your boot puller tool to rmove the boot. Turning left and right and pulling up on the boot. You may want to use a the wet vac to remove any loose particuls Rmove Spark plug.Vacuum again if needed.Put anti-seige on the threads of your new plug making sure you donnot get any on your conductor ends.Place in new plug making sure you donnot cross thread. There is a torque spec. for this.

With new plug wires make sure of your length to match the old plug wires length.Same procedure for the next plugs in back. Do plugs and or plug wires one at a time.

Once completed with the back check and make sure no vacuum lines have become disconnected.Using crow bar on passenger side hold forward (Bolt throught he hole of the engine bracket)Undo your rachet strap. Go to floor jack and let the engine slowly until the brack holes line up.Place in the engine bracket on drivers side and tighten.Leaving the passenger side bracket of will help when working on the front plugs. The front is much easier to replace. After replacing the front ,reconnected the passenger engine bracket (mount). Reconnect the air intake hose, and battery terminal. For other assistance you could go to a local auto parts dealer and buy the Maintence manual for Monte Carlo. Hope this helps and more important makes sense.

A alternate trick to get at the rear plugsLearned this from another Monte Carlo message board.

My MC has the 3800 V6.

Remove the two anti-torque brackets on front/top of engine. Swing them up and out of the way. Now, stand outside the drivers door (with the door open) with the tranny in Park. If you rock the car back and forth you will notice the engine really rolls forward and backward without those 2 brackets in place. The trick is to catch this movement with the engine rolled AS FAR FORWARD as possible. Now, as you're doing this, step on the parking brake at the instant the engine is rolled far forward. You should now be able to reach the 3 plugs at the rear of the engine! (At this point, for safety I would put a chock behind all 4 wheels.) When I first heard about and then tried this technique I couldn't believe how well it worked!

What cause a car engine to run rough?

What would cause no output from an alternator on an 88 monty Carlo besides the alternator itself?

The positive cable between the alternator and the battery has an open circuit or break.

There also is a set of wires that plug into the alternator that turns it on when the car is running. Wiring problems here can cause a alternator not to charge on the vehicle but works fine on a test stand. Some cars the alternator light in the dash causes the alternator to kick in when the engine is started. A burned out light in the dash causes the alternator not to charge.

What should the tire pressure be for a 2004 Monte Carlo SS?

Any 2000 to 2006 Monte Carlo tires should be filled to 35-37 psi. Running with less tire pressure will make the car handle poorly and also make the tires wear out the inner and outter edges of the tire prematurely . Thes holds true for any size tire on any car. ALWAYS put at least 3 pound more pressure into the tire than stated on the plycard or owners manual for SAFER handling and longer tire life.

The tire pressure stated by the manufacture gives you a smooth/ comfortable ride, but sacrifices even tire wear and reduced handling of the car or truck. REMEMBER the trouble with FIRESTONG tires on FORD trucks? The tire was not the problem, it was the tire pressure. FORD said to put only 28 to 30 psi in the tires (trucks weight was over 4800lbs) and if you had to make an emergence manuver the tire sidewall would fold under and the edge on the wheel would dig into the roadway and flip the truck. If tires had 35 to 38 psi this wouldnt have happened and FIRESTONE wouldnt have lost MILLIONS of dollars.

How do you install a stereo in a 1984 Chevy montecarlo?

Face trim is pressure fit. Pull out carefully... two small bolts hold brackets that are bolted to the side of the radio - take them out. Sometimes a third bracket is located behind the stereo as a generic anti theft devise. it is hard to get to but you have to get the nut off. Unplug the antenna wire and plastic clip that holds the wire harness on. If replacing with an aftermarket stereo, an adapter kit will be needed (to fill in the difference in size). The factory delco size is called "double din". An aftermarket is normally "single din". Double din stereos can be bought to fill in the whole space and look much nicer than an adapter kit (kenwood and pioneer make nice models). Also buy the adapter plug for the wiring harness rather than cutting it out. It's a time saver and negates having to trace the wires.

How do you remove a fuel pump from a 1999 firebird?

first....you buy a new or used fuel pump.....i recommend buying a used one because a fuel pump for a 1999firebird will cost you about 200$ or more.......there are two ways that you can replace the fuel pump......one way is to get the car on a lift and drop the fuel tank from under the body..... then the fuel pump will be easily accessible....take there will be two wire connections and three fuel hoses coming off of the pump.........take those off then get a hammer and chisel and GENTLY knock on the chisel where the locking plate is locking the fuel pump to the tank...... then put the new or used pump in....then you want to connect the hoses back together.......then put the fuel tank back up in to the body and then put the supports back in place

the second way of doing it is a little low tech......... you take the carpet out from the trunk then get an angle grinder then cut a hole in the trunk in the hump......then take the fuel pump out like i said in the above method and then put in the pump with the above method....... get some silicone caulk to seal back the hole that you cut....then you are ready to go I have done it 2 times...... once in the middle of nowhere.....

I got a Winchester model 88 243 ser67733 its got a Monte Carlo stock and a black tip no checkering any info on this one?

Based on the serial number your model 88 rifle was made in 1958. The original stocks were checkered (I have a 1957 model 88), so the stock you describe is likely a replacement. The following link gives the dates of manufacture for many Winchester rifles:

Replacing the starter on a 1999 Monte Carlo is fairly easy to do. The car will need to be jacked up to reach the starter. The wires will need to be disconnected from the starter before removing it. After the wires are removed, the starter can be taken down by removing the two bolts. After the starter is removed, replace it with a new one.

How do you change fuel pump on a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo?

You can either drop the tank and use a pair of snap ring pliers to remove the pump and sending unit. Or you can remove the bottom part of the back seat and the trunk liner and get to it that way. Either way make sure you relieve the pressure on the system first by taking off the fuel filler cap(where you put the gas in) and bleed the fuel line off of the pressure regulator located near the fuel rail under the hood.

Where can you find a timing diagram for a Chevy Monte Carlo 1994-1996 3.4l DOHC V6 engine?

I have the diagram that I got off ALLDATA. "GM does not provide a timing mark diagram for belt installion without using the special tool(s) listed in the Timing Belt service procedure." But I did mine without and only used two vice-clamps to hold the front to cams in line and the back two. Line those marks up and the Crank's mark will need to be set about at "2 o'clock" its wierd but that's how they are made.
