ABS stands for Anti-Lock Brake System. If the ABS light is on, your ABS has a problem. Clean all wheel sensors of any debris. If that does not help, Seek out a professional for this repair.

There's only 7 wires (if I remember correctly). Is your wiring harness gone, damaged, or just disconnected? I don't have a written diagram but I have a '67 Chevy van that I had to remake the harness due to a fire. I can tell you what wire goes where if you tell me what you need.

I had this problem as well and couldn't find any help on the net. However we fixed it!

You need two people.

Take the engine cover off and remove the air cleaner and any ducting that you can.

Take a metal coat hanger or similar wire and bend a 90 degree bend roughly half way down the rod. Take the end of the coat hanger and make a loop. Bend the wire around itself to close the loop and make it strong. You will be using it to pull hard!

Move the passenger seat as far back as possible.

Get a couple towels and lay them on the engine for comfort.

Lay on your back on passenger floor area so you can reach your left arm into the engine bay.

Have your buddy put the coat hanger under the hood to the right of the hood r elease (from outside the vehicle). push it in a couple inches and then turn so the hanger goes behind the latch.

Now reach in and feel around. If your lucky you will be bale to hook he loop around the point that the cable end is attached to. You may need to hold it in place while your buddy pulls from the outside. Be careful! it hurts if it pinches your fingers!

This is a very involved process that I could not begin to express here how its done. Check with your local library for a Chilton's repair manual or comparable service manual so you can get very guided details including pictures.

This is no fun I am doing this as I am writting today.

First you have to remove the dash. There are various 10mm bolts and Philips head screws.

There are wiring clips on the radio, the headlight switch (there is a button in the rear of the headlight switch to remove the switch rod)and on the gauge panel for easy removal.

Then I would suggest you remove the internal engine cover for easier access. That takes a 1/2in. socket. There are 2 hoses to the left side of the engine bay. You can see those clearly if you remove the air intake rubber duct. The upper hose has the heater control valve on it and the lower one is a return line. These will need a flat head screwdriver or a 10 mm socket to remove the hose clamps.

I am right now trying to remove all the corresponding duct work to free up the heatercore box.

I removed all the duct work, then I found that there are a few bolts that go through the firewall to the a/c box on the engine compartment side. remove the 3 nuts and there is one bolt on the inside right hand side. There is a bracket that holds the dashboard bottom remove that also with 1/2in or 13mm.

Finally the heater box can be removed. you need a 1/4 in socket to split the heater box. there are like 15 little bolts for this. once the box is split you will finally see if the heater core is bad.

I started at this point to split all the duct work in half and clean it with bleach. Once that was done I replaced everything.

work slow if you rush disasters with wiring and vaccum hoses can occur.

Yes, a Chevy 350 can be put in an Astro Van as I own one that I've built. Special motor mounts that make up for the extra length of the motor can be purchased for this swap for about $49.00. Next the plate on the front of the V6 which the alt, power steering and Air conditioning connect will bolt up perfectly on a 350. Obviously V6 headers won't work so aftermarket headers will need to be purchased for this swap but stock headers can be altered if your on a budget. A good muffler man can fabricate a dual exhaust system reasonably priced. Lastly check the driveshaft for fit and if it needs to be altered it can be shortened and rebalanced for about $30.00. THAT'S IT! It should cost you around $300 and that's on the high side.

The drain plug is under the bottom left of the radiator. I find it much easier to just losen the lower radiator hose on the right side of the radiator. The drain plug tends to be hard to get open... KSH

That year did not USE a Crank sensor.

It sounds like the starter relay is the clicking sound. Check to see if power is leaving the relay when the switch is turned to starting mode.

It's in the area of the oil filter, wires going to it. Can leak but most of the time it's the gasket between the oil filter adapter.

To change a 305 cam sensor, locate it beside the camshaft. Disconnect the electrical plug of the sensor and remove the hold-down bolt to take off the cam sensor. Replace with new.Ê

The Engines in the Astro Vans are Cast-Iron, this includes the 4 and 6 cylinder engines in all years of production.

The 1997 Chevrolet Astro Van came equipped with the 4.3L Vortec 6 cylinder engine. Vans with the option for rear heat have a coolant fill capacity of 16.4 quarts. Vehicles with this option delete are 13.7.

if your talking about the service engine lite in the dash comes on service the engine take your van to your local auto zone to get it tested for free it will give you a starting point . if the van is running rough start with a tune up . if it is running fine more than likely it is a vacuum hose check all of them closely .my 1999 was running rough i replaced plugs , wires , cap , rotor and injectors only to find out it was a bad distributor good luck .p.s. to the last person to answer if you are not going to try and help don't bother typing you are the reason i stopped leaving my email on this site.
