Recharging lithium CRxxxx batteries is not generally possible due to the chemistry and components used in these button batteries. In fact, recharging them can cause them to leak, become very hot, burst, or cause a fire.

There are similar sized Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries that can be recharged, though they are rare.

A batteries life span is a direct result of how it is treated. Batteries are like electronics, if you want them to last, take care of them, protect them, keep them fully charged, and keep them at ambient temperatures.

WHY?
A battery is a chemical reaction in flux.
When not fully charged, it decomposes.
A cold battery works harder to provide power (cold retards the chemical reaction).
A hot battery works harder to charge (heat retards the chemical recharging).
Fully discharging your battery reducing the number of cycles you should expect by a factor of 2-4x (Keeping the chemical reaction in the middle is easiest on the system).

Now remember, each manufacturer has different specs. I have seen published specifications on batteries as low as 300 cycles at 50% DOD. However, for premium batteries, like the Sun Xtender AGM solar batteries, you should see 1000 cycles at 50% DOD and nearly 1500 cycles at 40% DOD.

Look for MURS, (Multiple User Radio System) radios. They can be found in a lot of tool and contractor supply catalogues and on the internet. They are 5 watt, (I think) radios and do not require a license for handheld operation. Anything that has a higher power such as GMRS or other business-type FM radios does require an FCC License.
