How often should you change oil in mpv?
That is a Question that will draw Much Debate and Many Answers, let me start with this.
Synthetic oil is proving to be a superior lubricant for all engines. It not only lasts longer but also creates far less "sludge" and other buildup. Engine sludge is actually paraffin, much like the wax that is used to make candles. The paraffin breaks off of an oil hydrocarbon chain and bonds with other paraffin molecules, until you create a large amount of sludge inside the engine.
Regular oil changes can slow the process, since the paraffin molecule typically starts to break off after the oil has been used for a while. But since the paraffin has been removed from the synthetic oil, you'll end up with a far cleaner oil, plus the oil will not break down for up to 25,000 miles, giving you far superior lubrication inside the engine.
While synthetic oils make claims to last that long, most people never use it for much more than 10,000 or 12,000 miles. But even then, it's far less expensive since you're changing less often, and you still have the advantage that it provides superior lubrication. The more reputable auto manufacturers will not specify a brand of oil, but will indicate the viscosity and request specific engineering certifications.
Look at the top of the oil can/bottle for the engineering specification stamps, and read the owners manual for the recommended viscosity. All oil manufacturers offer you a choice of oil viscosities.
In the newer GM automobiles like the GMC Canyon they have an Oil Life indicator that displays on the dash when you have reached what they consider to be time to change your oil. This generally happens around 10,000 miles.
---- If you are not comfortable with going say 25,000 miles/1 year then you can always go with a 7,500 Mile/6 months, with Amsoil Motor Oil.
On a MPV I believe the recommend viscosity is 5W-30
Hope This Helps.

How do you remove the ignition without the key 94 caravan?
The caravans have an ignition key module affixed`to the steering column by three screws. Remove the plastic covering the key switch and you will see the screws. Remove the screws and the module can be replaced. My module stopped working so I was going to break the switch to get the car started, when I noticed the setup, so instead of breaking anything I just removed it and went to the wrecking yard with my old key and the key worked on the second caravan I tried. How about that luck!!!

Is there a documented problem of the gears shifting or shuttering harshly on a 2001 Saturn SL?
If you are refering to an automatic transmission Saturn, yes. This happens when the ATF (Auto trans fluid) wears out. Depending on age of your car and number of miles, it might be necessary to change the fluid twice. Recommended service is 30K miles (50K kms). There is a drain plug in the bottom of the transmission. There is an external filter that will also need to be changed. Fill the trans up through the dipstick tube. Good luck.
If the computer memory has been cleared either by using a scan tool or disconnecting the battery and the light comes back on with the same code, I would suggest you have it diagnosed by a certified technician and fix whatever the original problem was.

Where is the water pump located on a 94 deville with a north star engine?
On the North Star engine you need to remove the air filter assembly and look on the right side of the engine you will notice the thermostat housing connected to the water pump cover on the engine. Once the water pump cover is removed a special socket is needed to remove the water pump. It is also a good idea or install a new belt on the water pump as well.

Why does the fuel pump fuse keep blowing on a 1995 dodge caravan?
If it's blowing immediately when you turn the key on, there is an electrical short in the system and you are going to need to trace it down. If it blows after several minutes or hours after turning the key on, it appears that your pump is overworking, causing the fuse to get hot and blow. Replace the pump to repair the problem.

What could be the sources of a ticking problem on a 1996 dodge caravan?
If it is coming from the engine, it is more than likely the hydraulic valve lifters. They sometimes go bad and don't hold oil in them and need to get oil into them to work. When they get older they don't hold the oil, as well and they will make this noise too. If it is a constant ticking that speeds up with the engine speed, you know that is most likely what it is.
Will my 1999 voyager front seats fit in a 2006 caravan Do they have the same mountings?

How do you replace the starter on a 2000 Dodge Caravan?
The book says:
1) disconnect the negative terminal from the battery
2) disconnect the solenoid wire connector from the terminal (this is about the toughest part believe it or not. Dang connector is tough to get off!) There is a little red locking piece that MUST be pulled out about 1/8". Once it is, the black locking piece can be squeezed and the connector removed. If you fail to pull out the red piece, you cannot un-clip the black piece.
3) remove the B+ wire to the terminal
4) disconnect the solenoid and B+ wire from the starter terminal
5) remove the bolts holding the starter to the transmission bell housing.(there are 2, first one is easy, second one is a bear!. I removed the air filter parts and was able to reach the 2nd bolt from the top. fairly easy.) A universal joint in your ratchet extension will help here.
6. remove the starter.
7 Above all safety first, support the van wile your underneath with jack stands or on solid ramps. I used ramps to avoid having the jack stands in my way.
Hope this helps.
