95 Dodge Intrepid will turn over but not start?
My son just fixed one that was acting funny till it just quit running one winters evening in a northeast Ohio snow storm.. All total 100 hours of labor put into the fix along with $150 in parts including a used computer from the junk yard that turned out to be bad.. Stalling or not starting especially during wet weather.. He found a factory splice in the wiring harness full of corrosion to the point the computer was getting 8 volts on a 12 volt line.. The 2 most common places for wiring harness problems are at the bottom of the main bundle under the washer fluid bottle and where the harness crosses the steering arms behind the motor.. If you try the stuff that the computer codes point to such as cam sensor , crank sensor or replace coil, wires and plugs and problem stay with you.. It is most likely in that mass of wires and the weak points are the splices that join several wires together.. I have seen bad ignition switches, rotten wiring at the o2 sensors clogged fuel filters, broken cam belt tensioners and the list goes on and on.. But by far the most time consuming and perplexing are with wiring.. This car sat in my garage for 8 months and was about to be scrapped..............

get a book at your local autoparts store!... this will be helpful for much more than changing a timing belt... there are many intricate steps and alignments that MUST be exactly followed to allow your car to run without MAJOR damage after the belt has been changed... and will require special tools including air impact, etc THIS IS NOT A JOB FOR A BEGINNER!!!
I dont agree that you need an impact at all it is very simple as you approach most of it through the wheel well. You can even leave the tire on just turn it to the left. Once yo have the alternator out just take off covering in wheel well you will see everything clearer then. Hardest trick is alternator in whole job. You should put in new water pump while your there.

I have a 2001 Intrepid and I just had it replaced, but to no avail I still don't have any heat. Anyway it should be located right above the alternator. You won't be able to see it under the hood, so you are gonna have to get a little dirty and crawl underneath the vehicle. For a 2000 with a 3.2L Engine. It is right beside the Oil Filter. I can tell you from experience, that is worth taking off the Oil Filter and replacing it with a new one. Just be sure that the water is out first. My recomendation is to take the screws outof the thermostat housing first and let any excess water run out. Once this is done, then remove the Oil Filter. This will help ensure that no water gets in the Oil Pan, or crankcase.

I am currently addressing the same problem with this car for a friend. I found a pressure leak at the seam between the metal coolant cap neck and the plastic coolant reservoir. New tank over $50 from aftermarket online, got one of many at the local junkyard for $5. 20 minute job. The coolant leak continues, however. I think it is coming from the heater hose; will confirm tomorrow. This car has had 2 replacement water pumps; about 120k miles.
