The differential fluid on a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 needs to be changed every 50,000 miles for normal highway driving. If the vehicle is used in 4x4 regularly, then change the differential fluid about every 25,000 to 30,000 miles.

From my understanding you take th eliters and multiply them by 60. So 4.7 X 60 = 282 cubic inches. Thsi is close to the cubic inches it is not exact. 5.7 X 60 = 346 5.3 X 60 = 318

It depends on which engine you have. They are classified by their size (displacement) in Liters. All the engines for 2001 Rams use 10W-30. 3.9L = 4 quarts 5.2L & 5.9L gas = 5 quarts 8.0L = 7 quarts 5.9L Diesel = 11 quarts

Is the transmission cooler fins clean and free of debris. Are you towing a heavy load? If so, I recommend you install a aftermarket transmission cooler. If it is getting hot and you are not towing, you need to seek out a professional to find out why it is getting hot. Do not continue to drive this vehicle or you will be spending big bucks for a new transmission. Heat is the biggest enemy of a transmission.

Most leaf spring helper kits do not require you to take apart the leaf assembly, But if you have one that does, The existing (factory) bolt WILL NOT be long enough to add another leaf in the stack, You will need to buy A longer bolt, Keep in mind that the bolt is hardened to atleast 8.8, I do not know how important it is to have A hardened bolt sinse the U-BOLTS are holding the thing together, But I ALWAYS put in A hardened bolt anyway., Good luck, Jamison.

take the wheel off take brake caliper off take spindal nut off pull axle out. I had to burn my old u joint out with a torch and I have a 2001 1500. I hope that helps you.

The check valve in the vacuum line to the HVAC system has failed. It is the black part in the line on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

Check page 199 of your owner's manual. You'll see the location and pictures that will help you access the filter.

To answer your question, it's directly behind the glove compartment door. Just remove the anti-slam brake from the right side (a single screw) then pivot the door downward until you can (gently) pull it away from the dashboard assembly. It will help if you empty the compartment first. Oh! There's the owner's manual! ;)

Look carefully and you'll see the drawer. Pull it toward the rear of the car. Note the airflow direction of the filter (bottom to top). Pop out the old filter, slip in a new one and re-assemble.

If, for some reason you don't have an owner's manual, get one. You're missing a lot of information about options built into the car for your convience. They range from programming the windows (and moon roof if you have one) to toggling the alarm system from active to passive and even whether or not the doors lock when you put the transmission in gear.

It could be a whole mess of things. But first check to see if the computer has any codes. You can go to a auto parts store like Advance Auto Parts, Shucks, Napa..etc and borrow a code reader for free. After that check for vacuum leaks, EGR Valve is a common problem in the 2004+ Rams, Throttle Position Sensor (if it's surging, that's what fixed mine), Cleaning your Throttle Body will help a lot.

It is not in the factory repair manual. They refer to the diagram in front of the radiator on a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. It is a very basic diagram and leaves a lot to be desired. I am looking for a diagram myself as a pack rat chewed off both ends of one vacumn hose and I cannot find where it attaches on the firewall.

It wasn't specified what the model year this is or which "S" series was asked about, but on my 2001 SL1 the ONLY way to replace the front bearings is removing the front wheel bearing assemblies then taking them, and the new bearings, to a machine shop to have the old bearings pressed out and the new bearings pressed in. Then reattach the hub assemblies to the car. The wheels will also need to be realigned after having to unbolt the front struts to remove the bearing assemblies.
