Is it okay to drink expired water?

Normally, water doesn't expire. It isn't always safe to drink, depending on how it is obtained, but purified bottled water that hasn't been opened should be fine. If it wasn't purified and it looks strange, then of course don't drink it.

Safe tap water that someone drank from and then set back on the counter and left for a week could be bad just because someone has been in contact with it, or from other contaminants in the home (cleaning products, etc.). If in doubt, always good to boil it first, or use water purification tablets as needed.

What would you drink if you where stranded on an island would it be conaminated water or salty ocean explain your answer why?

  1. You wouldn't drink seawater because it would make you more thirsty because of the salt, which will eventually lead to kidney failure, then death.

  2. You wouldn't drink your own urine because your body is getting rid of it, so it wouldn't make any sense to drink something your body doesn't want and/or need.

  3. I would say find some fruit on the island such as coconuts, bananas, or exotic fruits and drink the juice out of them. Surely the island would have at least some fruits to drink juices from. Then you could eat the fruit after you drink the juice.

By and large acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) products are safe for any food item, including beverages. ABS is so prevalent in plumbing and food/beverage packaguing that your one little pitcher would be the least of your worries should you need to worry.

If your concerns remain, consider converting all food containers to lab grade glass. A 5000 ml beaker, however, will run you about $200.

Can you drink the same water that a dinosaur drank and if so how?

It is possible. The water cycle is continuous, so we could be drinking the same water that dinosaurs drank, Cleopatra bathed in or a mouse drowned in. Luckily, water is naturally filtered while making its way back into the water table. Most water molecules are never destroyed, but continually go through a cycle of where they go... down your throat, down the sink, into a river, up into the sky, down as rain, into the ocean... etc. And it's been doing that for millions and millions of years over and over and over again. And so the very same water molecules have been around since the dinosaurs and long before that!

Magnesium sulfate is usually just in the ground water to begin with. Too much magnesium sulfate can have dehydration and laxative effects. Several filtration methods can remove magnesium sulfate and other dissolved substances from ground water. That's not to say it being in the water is a bad thing, magnesium is a needed mineral and drinking water that has been filtered can lead to a magnesium deficiency.
