How do you change Fiat seicento rear suspension bushes?

In short you can't change the bushes on a Seicento rear arm, the design simply does not have provision for pressing the old bushes out and you can't purchase bushes for this purpose except from specialist poly-bush suppliers. It is substantially easier and more cost-effective to just replace the arm as a unit. If you do choose to replace the bushes you will need to cut/drill the old ones out and be prepared for a fight as it really isn't easy to do. The inner and outer bushes are identical.

What does 'fiat' mean?

A sanction; decree. A legally binding command or decision entered on the court record (as if issued by a court or judge); "a friend in New Mexico said that the order caused no trouble out there"

Fiat is latin for "Let it be done".

In some cases it pertains to an order from the court such as the entering of a lawsuit judgment, divorce decree, etc.

In other situations it can pertain to a warrant for the arrest of an individual (that, I guarantee will "cause trouble").

Fiat, of Torino, Italy, intended for the second definition to be applied to their automobiles. Fiats were afordable--and intended to last, although once the make met USA standards, there was a change in the meaning: Fiat became known as the Fix-It-Again-Tony car. Thank goodness for wiring diagrams.

It may indeed be a pun on the latin word fiat, but F.I.A.T stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (Italian Motor Factory of Turin).

it is inconvertable paper money that is issued by government order order or fiat.

"Fiat" is also used in the Roman Catholic Church to mean "God's will be done." It is the basis for tradtional Catholic philosophy. Reference to the word and its deeper meaning can be found in the writings of ALL the doctors of the Church, including St. John of the Cross, and St. Teresa of Avila. It is, by Church tradition, the very key to Heaven.

How do you install a fiat spider convertible top?

# Remove rear molding around inside of rear top well.

# Loosen bolts holding rear anchor bar down. Push this bar up until you can remove top from underneath.

# Loosen top in front and remove screws holding rubber molding in place. Remove rubber molding and remove glue strip from front bow, being careful not to tear bow covering.

# Drill out the rivets from inside the window flaps using a 1/8 (0.125 ) drill. There are three on each side - one in front, two in quarter windows.

# Loosen screws holding cable. Pull cables from old top, unglue bow strips from all three bows and remove top from car.

# Lay the new top over bows and slide stiffeners under rear body bar pulling the top taut from side to side. Push bar down as far as possible and tighten the bolts, starting from the center and working to the outside.

# Slip the top over the front bow and glue the top to the bow using a good fabric cement or any good contact cement such as Wilhold Contact Cement available at most hardware stores.

# Lift top halfway up and pull cable through the top by tying the string to the cable.

# Fasten top into position and glue remainder bow covering into place. Also glue quarter pads around rear bow and quarter window glue strip.

# Slip cable under end of body bar and pull it thru the clip. Pull cable taut and tighten screws.

# Replace the rear molding.

# Pull inside window flap taut and punch through bracket location in front. Use the bolt and trim washers to hold in position. These are where the rivets were previously. Fasten front and rear of this flap. Replace bracket coverings (cut off bolts if necessary to make brackets lay in the proper position).

How do you do an oil change on a Fiat Stilo 1.9 JTD?

First, thing to do is run the car for 5 min's lets the oil get nice a warm, so it flows better. Second, jack up front of the car. Use axle stands to secure vehicle while working on it. use a sump key plug should be 12mm or 10mm. Next put the drain pan under the drain hole. undo sump plug let old oil drain into drain pan on floor. Then tighten drain plug finger tight and then 1/4 turn. Next move onto the oil filter use a filter strap to remove it. On the new filter use a bit of oil on the new oil filter seal...then spin it on and tighten it hand tight ...don't use any tools. Next the easiest part use look at your owners book it will tell you the amount of oil you need to use. on my 1.9jtd its 4.3 liters. Now here the trick measure out only 4 liters, let it settle. turn the engine on run for 2-3 mins check for leaks. If everything is good drop the car on a level surface. clean up the oil dip stick and add .3 litters to bring it up to factory speck. drive it around for 5 mins and recheck oil level. your done . change oil and filter every 6,000 miles on diesels, oil takes a battering.

How do you put a oil fliter on a 850 fiat spider 903cc that does not have one?

I owned one of these cars in the 1970's.

At that time there was a Fiat racing company in Georgia (can't remember the name) which sold instructions and parts to install an oil filter.

Complicated undertaking the best I can remember - had to remove the engine, remove oil pan, and take it to a welding shop to get some of the oil passages closed off. I then think it had to be drilled for new passages with hose adapters to route the oil to the new filter which bolted to the inside of the engine compartment.

Had to use special oil resistant hoses and on several occasions the hoses would pop off, spraying oil all over the hot engine and sending the car to the side of the road in a cloud of smoke.

A lot of work and, in today's terms, would be expensive.
