The recommended tire pressure should be on the actual tire. Tire pressure is not assigned by car, but by the different types of tires you can put on the car. You should find this information on the wall of the tire more towards the hubcap than the edge.

First, what the numbers mean: 205 is the width of the tire in millimeters, 40 is the aspect ratio of the sidewall showing how tall the sidewall is (so 40% of 205 means it is 82mm) and the last number is the wheel size in inches, meaning a 16 inch wheel. The very first thing you need to do is go look at the tires you have on the car right now...if it says anything other than "16" on the end, the tires you asked about won't fit. A 16 inch tire WILL NOT anything but a 16 inch wheel! If it does say 16, yes, they will fit, but the tire is shorter than the stock size because the sidewall is shorter (205-55R16 is stock for a PT with 16 inch wheels, meaning the stock size has a sidewall height of 55% of 205 or 113mm, so your tire is about 31mm shorter than stock.) HOWEVER, your speedometer will read nearly 10% too fast, it will show you're doing 60 when you're actually doing 54, and there are unknown problems that could be caused by changing the tire size. The manufacturer designs a car around a certain size for the travel of the suspension, proper brake function, steering, etc., and if you change it you could cause the car to have problems or failures. It's best to keep the size the same. I have a set of 205-60R16's on my PT Cruiser because I bought an aftermarket set of wheels and tires, and the seller recommended that size to be used with the wheels. I was not sure they would still fit because with the 60% aspect ratio they are taller than stock, and it was very close on clearance in the front, but they have worked fine. Another thing to remember is that with the shorter sidewall of your 40's, even though they have the cool low profile look, it's so much easier to damage your wheels on curbs because the wheels are much closer to the ground. I have been very happy with having largersidewalls because I'm less likely to curb my expensive wheels! I'd recommend staying closer to the stock size...buy some from a reputable local tire shop or go online and find something that's recommended for your car.

I've been reading up on this and most people forget that the spare tire as well as the other 4 have to have the proper tire pressure. (32-38 psi) The valve stems have tiny transmitters in them which indicate to the computer whether the tire pressure is OK in ALL5 TIRES.

Of course it can but this is not a good swap. If you wish to go to a 60 series tire then use 205/60-15.

I don't have a manual for my 04' XR 250, but when I took it by a motorcycle mechanic recently for a tire stem valve problem, he told me 10 to 15 lbs is good pressure for trail riding. 10 lbs is what he filled it to, and it seemed sufficient for our day of riding that followed.

According to my owner's manual, it is 29psi (2.0 bar) for the front and 35psi (2.4 bar) for the rear with two passengers. For four or more passengers or four passengers with luggage it's 36psi (2.5 bar) front and 44psi (3.0 bar) for the rear.

MAKE SURE THE CAR IS SUPPORTED SO YOU DON'T KILL YOURSELF,then Put on one lug nut back on a few turns, from the backside of the wheel, take a big hammer and whack the tire several times. If it still doesn't come, turn the wheel a quarter turn and continue, keep doing this for 30 or so times. If it still doesn't want to come off, hit it on the rim from the backside. Just be careful to not bend the rim. Sometimes I put one lug on a few turns and slowly leave the weight back down on the tire till it breaks free. I've been in the tire business for more than 2O years and answer number 2 scares me! I strongly advise you to follow the directions in answer one. Make sure the vehicle is supported with something besides just the jack and get a BFH to beat the back side of the tire. Unless you can get a good swing you will have to beat on the rim itself. If were talking about a steel wheel on a rear drum and you have the time try a little penatrating oil on the outside of the wheel in the very center where you will see it rides on a small ridge of the brake drum and let it sit overnight. then beat on it. Loosen all the lug nuts, but don't remove them. Then mule kick the edge of the rim with boots on. If that fails, take all of the lug nuts completely off, soak the back of the wheel with WD-40 and take that cross country road trip you've been meaning to take. Oh, and wear your seat belt!

Yes the air pressure will increase when the tire warms from use, you should inflate it to manufacturers specs written either on the tire or on your car door when "cold" ( driving a mile or so to the gas station is fine), any increase from heat has already been taken into account by the manufacturer. And no, if there was not a significant change in temperature outside, 6psi. is a substantial amount to have dropped. There have been some recent recalls on valve cores and valve stems for such reasons. So check with the tire shop that put them on to see if they have had any problems. and only use the manufacturers specs of pressure on your car. the specs on the tires are the max pressure of that particular tire. not of your car. always go with what the owners manual recommends.

30psi front and 35 rear

I own a 2009 Jeep Wrangler X and actually just had to change a flat. In the trunk of your jeep there will be a long lug nut "wrench" that was made specifically to remove the nuts that hold all of the tires on. Simply use this tool to remove the nuts on the spare tire and you are all set!

The tire pressure warning light should go out once all of the tires have the correct pressure. If it does not then one of the sensors in the wheel is probably bad.
