Ford Contour

There is a retainer clip that holds the handle onto the spined shaft. There is a plastic piece between the handle and the door panel, I used a screwdriver to make a gap between the handle and this plastic piece. through the gap I was able to see to use a crochet needle to hook and pull the retainer clip loose. Once the retainer clip is loose the handle easily pulls off the spined shaft.

According to the 1999 Ford Contour Owner Guide ( for North America )

It came from the factory with a 50 / 50 mix of distilled water and GREEN

color antifreeze ( meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A )

In the drivers footwell behind the left side kick panel ( there is an access hole )

I believe that it is located on the middle of the steering wheel like most cars. If you still can't get it, try starting it and then try to use the horn because some horns only work when the engine is on.

For my 1997 Ford F-150 XLT 4x2 Triton v8 4.6L, the low fuel light comes on with about 1 gallon of gas left. That's mine, though, heh.

The key FOB allows the user to open the doors of their vehicle when within a given range. This FOB can be programmed by going to the Ford dealership.

It is very likely to be a spark plug issue. After a botched tune-up from one auto shop, I took my Ford Contour elsewhere for a second opinion. The people at the first place told me it was faulty head gasket. The second folks said it was wrong spark plugs and warped sockets from the spark plug wires. They re-tuned the car, replaced the spark plugs and wires with proper ones and BAM! Bob's your uncle! I hope this helps and I bid you farewell!

On the front of the engine.As you are looking at the front of the engine it will be on the upper left hand side, attached to the block and head.

Have you check to see if the radiator is clogged with dirt and debris try pressure washing the radiator and make sure the fan is working like it should. If you clean the fins and it still runs hot you might check to see if the temp guage is reading correct.
