check the fuse, it should be linked to other devices in the vehicle if you've noticed other components (radio, interior lights, etc.) not working. if the gauge is pegged in the super high or low position and the fuse is good, pull apart dash and check voltage reading at gauge wiring (you need voltage values from ford to determine if the gauge is out or if it is indeed telling you the right reading). If the gauge wiring checks out, the sender unit on your fuel pump went out and it is integral with the fuel pump itself. Ala, time to replace the fuel pump. Good luck.

I had a similar problem. Check your intake tube for cracks. If there is a crack it the motor will suck in more air and that throws off the Mass Air Flow Sensor.

No you cannot. The motor will not bolt up the same to the body. I tried using a motor from a four door into a two door and did not work. Those seat belts are just a big pain in the butt anyways. When I locked both of mine on my 95 LX Sport I left them alone.

Actually, you can do it without grinding the bolts -
remove the lower trim panel (below the steering wheel)
insert your ignition key and turn it to acc
on the bottom of the ignition switch, there is a button you have to push in and you can then remove the switch

I have a 97 escort lx wagon and recently I got the #4 cly. misfire after replacing the wires and plug's misfired again causing the check engine light to come on,had it checked at the auto parts store and got the #4 cyl. misfire.replaced the dist. cap.still had problems,took it to Bob Lees auto repair and the engine went south on a test drive.

i was wondering if you changed you water pump??? i got mine almost out all but 2 bolts...not to bad. you have to take the timing cover and belt off..then your water pump is right there..pass..side..remove right tire...let me know about the bolts...
