putting a 305 in a ford probe would be more expensive that buying a car that would outrun it in the end. ford probe is front wheel drive and the body and frame (unibody) will not come close to taking the weight or abuse that the v8 will expose it to. as far as modifications they would be MAJOR. into the thousands of dollars. dont waste your time. get an SHO motor from a probe and put it in there. it will run with most v8s comfortanly and at a huge savings to your wallet.

My probe will not shift to any gear while running but will when turned off. Before taking it to a mechanic I would like a general idea if this is a clutch or transmission problem.

you need a small flat head screwdriver, a 10 millimeter socket (asmall extension helps), and if you want a small flat head screwdriver for removing all the little push clips.

The battery it uses is ( BCI group size 58R ) and that seems to be 550 to 590 cold

cranking amps ( CCA ) depending on battery make

Most likely, the clutch or the clutch pilot bearing is dragging. This is caused by clutch hydraulic leaks not letting the clutch fully disengage or the clutch pressure plate/disc/flywheel is warped. Crawl under the car, (engine off)have a friend push/release pedal, see if slave cylinder throw seems adequate and look for leaks. If throw is short, problem is in the clutch hydraulics; if throw is normal, problem is the clutch.

its a button with a rubber cover on it. push the button. if the switch is bad then remove a bolt or two, unplug and replace. in a 1993-1997, its located in the trunk under the carpet in the left quarterpanel

I've found that the best way to change out the front turn signals of Ford Probe is to jack up the front end of the side of the car that needs to have the turn signal bulb replaced. Then remove the two hex headed screws and the two plastic panel connectors that are holding the inner fender liner to the front fender. These are located just forward of the front wheel. After you remove these parts you can fold the inner fender liner back and reach up to unlock the light socket from the turn signal lens. This can be done without jacking up the car, but it's a bit more difficult.

1. Remove the screws and pull down on the front portion of the fender liner. This provides just enough room for your hand to reach in and access the two bulb holders.

2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and pull it out of the housing.

3. Pull the bulb from the holder and replace.

** What the book DOESN"T tell you is that it's a whole lot easier if you turn the tires opposite from the side you need to get too. Also, if you have really large4 hands or forearms, you may need to take the tire off altogether.

In the dist. Takeit to Auto zone and have them check it out.

Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located In RR qtr panel area. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Open the hood and stand on the driver's side of the car, you should see the transmission. In the top right corner there are two 14MM bolts, your starter is back there, after bolts are removed, reach back there and disconnect the wires from the starter then pull it out. Shouldn't be too hard. Not sure on the automatics though.

Take and snip the following wires from the ignition wiring harness.

12 VOLT CONSTANT. 

BLACK/BLUE (+) or BLACK (+)  

STARTER 

BLACK/YELLOW (+)

IGNITION  

BLACK/PINK (+)

 ACCESSORY/HEATER BLOWER

 BLUE/YELLOW (+)  

Strip the wires back on all of them and then connect all of them expect for the starter wires together. You're entire dash should light up once finished. After that just tap and hold the starter wire to the wires you connected until the car cranks. Last thing is to break the steering wheel lock with a flat head and or crow bar and Boom you're good to go.

Note if you have any security features installed you will need to find out how to disconnect them or else your car will not run.

could be a couple of things...first off take the ignition control module into autozone and have them test it 10-15 times back to back.....that many tests will heat the control module up enough, that if there is a thermobreak down it will fail one of the tests.....the other thing it could be is a weak fuel pump. Initially the pump will have enough pressure but after it runs a bit, the pressure decreases to a point where the engine will not run.... A quick way to find out if it is a fuel pressure issue, is to get the car in a "NO-START" situation...then take some starting fluid and spray it into the intake....if the car starts, the problem is with the fuel pump. If neither of these get the car to run.....check the fuses for the ECM (Electronic Control Module), and the wiring harness connection at the ECM....make sure there is not a loose plug.... Yes it can be replaced with 93-97 panel and most of the interior will also work and everything on the exterior will also work..

It is possible. Bypass the switch and see.
