Sounds like a coolant temperature sensor as a guess. I had the same problem and it turned out to be the starter.

It does not have a governor. Speed is computer controlled.

Drain the water from the cooling system. Remove the water pump hoses. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Remove the water pump gasket and clean the surface. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.

I need to know also. My dashboard instrument cluster lights are out and can't see the speedometer.

This information can be found in your owner's manual. If you do not have one, you can obtain one from your dealer or a salvage yard. If it has over 75,000 miles on it, replace the belt. If it has an interference engine, then severe engine damage can occur if the belt breaks. My manual for my 92 prizm states every 60,000 miles for timing belt replacement, the same for valve adjustment. But if the valves aren't making a "ticking" noise I woudn't bother with them.

I need to know the same thing but for those who tag it as adding transmission fluid, you're wrong. The automatic has a separate differential with its own fluid.

Both the 1.6L and 1.8L engines in the 93 Prizm are 4-cylinder inline engines. I'm no expert but I don't think you can get a V6 engine in the engine compartment let alone hook up the transmission, etc.

You probably just have a burned out light bulb. Look at the back of the sealed headlights. You will see two connectors, one for the high beam and one for the low- beam. To remove the light bulb turn the bulb holder counter clockwise until it releases. Replace the bulb and holder. Make sure you don't get oil from you hands on the bulb or it may shorten the operating life.

Yes, it is mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.

I would try and use 5W40 since it has lower viscocity and should reduce ware/tear/gasoline consumption, or so they say

Look on the back of the transmission on top towards the firewall where the engine and tranny connect. Kind of a pain to get to. And pricy to replace. Try 188 dollars at Autozone. I'm afraid to call a dealer and see what they want for one.

The 95 model doesn't have one externally. It's called an optical pickup and is part of the distributor. It can't be purchased separately.

The oil capacity on a 1996 Geo Prizm is approximately 5 quarts. The recommended oil type is 10 W 30.

most manual transmissions have 2 plugs - one high and one low. The low one is for draining, and the higher one is for filling - it's kind of tricky to get it in there without making a huge mess.

theres a recall on that go to a dealer it should be fixed the air bag can go off at any time

The intake air temperature sensor on a Geo Prism would be a part of the air intake system. More specifically, it would be on the engine side of the air cleaner housing.

You need a new starter

Techron to clean fuel injectors, spark plugs etc.

If you're trying to improve gas mileage, use gas with no ethanol.

Also, you can add 2 fl. oz of pure acetone per 10 gallons (they have it at Walmart for $1). It increased the overall gas mileage in my 1996 1.3 metro automatic about 4%.

If I use 10% ethanol fuel however, acetone has no effect, and my gas mileage drops from 42 to 37 mpg (with or without acetone added).

Bottom pasenger side. There's a black turn valve and the spout is on the side pointed towards the engine. You may need to remove the plastic undercarriage shield on that side of the vehicle for clear access; there are 6 very simple screws to remove the shield.

There isn't a fuel shutoff switch on General Motor's cars.
