Why would your headlights and dash lights blink on 1999 Geo Tracker?
Blinking lights on dash and exterior lights may indicate a bad ground wire or a faulty headlight switch. Both would cause those problems.
Hi, You need to remove your glove compartment doo first. Open the door and press in the tabs at the rear and the door will drop down, it should be held on with two screws, it's easier to work on the resistor if you remove the dor. Behind the glove box door there is an opening with a cove on it, behind the cover is the resistor. You should have a short screwdriver to remove the resistors two screws but unplug the the harness first then remove the screws. Removing the resistor is simply a matter of lifting it out of the hole that it is in, if it hasn't been taken out before it will take a bit of pulling to get it out as a long time of dirt is holding it in, I pulled mine out with a small pair of pliers. When you have it out, just revere what you did to put it back in., A word of caution...be careful not to break the wires of the resistor when you put it in and handle it...! Good luck and happy fixing. Steve H.

YES
Place tranmission in neutral Place transfer case in neutral
Place transmission in park.
Have Fun !
More often than not there are capacitors on the board that have leaked acid burning out elements of the board, as well as circuit lines you will need to open the ecm case and look for a green goo or other obvious damage repair the circuit lines with solder or jumpers and replace any damaged components clean the board with baking soda and a damp cloth dry completely before reinstal use an ohm meter to test continuity of circuits
there are two marks,as i have been told because the top timing gear is used on 3 cyl. and 4 cyl engines the 60 mark is for 3 cyl and the 80 mark is for the 4 cyl
How do you remove the fan clutch of a 1995 Geo Tracker?
HI, The first question I need to know is, have you removed the fan yet? And why do you want to remove the clutch? Are you trying to replace the fan/clutch assy? If you have not removed the fan/clutch then here's how to get that out. First drain the cooling system so the coolant is below the upper radiator hose. Take the upper hose off of the radiator. remove all of the fan shroud retaining fasteners. Loosen all of the fan/clutch mounting fasteners. remove the water pump drive belt. Remove the fan/clutch mounting fasteners, then lift the fan/clutch and fan shroud out together. Then remove the clutch however you can. Reverse what you did to replace everything and replace the coolant. This could be a good time to replace all your coolant if it hasn't been done for as while. Good luck and if you need more help, we hope you'll clarify your question. Steve H.

How do you install a distributor assembly in a 92 Geo tracker 4 wheel drive automatic transmission?
start by taking the distibutor cap off, the bring the #1 cylinder up to tdc (top dead center) then see were the rotor is pionting. then remove the hold down plate & remove the distibutor. next drop the new distibutor in making sure you put the rotor-gear in the same place the old rotor was. tighten the plate bak down then start the car if the car does not start or it has a miss then turn the distibutor till the motor either starts or the miss is gone. then you will need to time it with a timing light, if you don't have one take it to a shop and they will tune it for you for less than nothing.

How do you tow a 1992 automatic Geo Tracker?
As in, tow behind? Well, here we go. Use proper towing equipment for recreational towing and follow their instructions. While towing, do not go faster than 55 mph (90 km/h)
4X4 and Manual Free-Wheeling Hubs (option 1, towing from front): Set key to ACC, release the parking brake, shift into Park, shift transfer lever to nuetral, set hubs to "Free." After 200 miles, start the car, but it in Drive, and rev the engine for a minute to circulate the oil in the transfer case, remember to shift back into Park and set it in ACC before continuing tow.
4X4 and Manual Free-Wheeling Hubs (option 2, towing from back): Secure the rear wheels with a towing dolly (follow instructions for the dolly), set hubs to "Free." Turn key to ACC. Make sure wheels are straight forward and secure the steering wheel with a clamping device for towing. The column isn't strong enough for shocks from the front wheels, make sure it's unlocked (setting it to ACC) before towing.
4X4 and Auto Free-Wheeling Hubs (Tow from back): Release the auto hubs, secure rear wheels with towing dolly (follow instructions for the dolly), set key to ACC, Make sure wheels are straight forward and secure the steering wheel with a clamping device for towing. The column isn't strong enough for shocks from the front wheels, make sure it's unlocked (setting it to ACC) before towing.
2WD (Tow from back): Secure the rear wheels with a towing dolly (follow instructions for the dolly), set key to ACC, Make sure wheels are straight forward and secure the steering wheel with a clamping device for towing. And for people looking for 4WD Manual Transmission with Manual Free-Wheeling Hubcaps (Tow from front): Turn key to ACC, release parking brake, shift into 2nd gear, shift transfer lever into nuetral, set hubs to "Free". After 200 miles, start the car, but it in Drive, and rev the engine for a minute to circulate the oil in the transfer case, remember to shift back into Park and set it in ACC before continuing tow.

How do you replace a EGR valve in a 1996 Geo Tracker?
HI, I think the comical answer is have your mechanic do it, I did. After disconnecting the various vacuumn hoses. the EGR valve is only held on by two bolts, the bolt that's closest to the battery isn't all too difficult but to remove it you need to have a lot of dexterity, you may want to remove the battery as it will give you a bit more room to move in. The bolt that is on the inside side of the EGR valve is one that you need to have a good flexible attachment for your socket and maybe a shallow socket. You need to give the bolts a good dose of some type of penetrating oil, I prefer Marvel Mystery Oil over WD-40, I find it gets in better and doesn't flow off like others. When you have both bolts out and take the valve off, make sure the old gasket comes off too then clean the engine block where the gasket goes. Reverse all your steps and then fix the scraped knuckles you'll have from this one. I really was serious though anout having it done. It only took him a hour and a quarter and he had a hard time. If you do it, good luck. Steve H.

Where is The Slave Cylinder on a 1996 Geo Tracker 1.6L 5 speed 16 Valve for the Clutch?
Hi, The slave cylinder is on the side of the transmission. The hydraulic clutch system bleeder valve is on the slave cylinder. If you're bleeding the cluth, remember to have a jar and some clear plastic to bleed the system and never re-use the fluid you remove from the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. Good luck and I hope it's a warm day for you. Please remember to use jack stands or heavy metal ramps. Steve H.
