Yes, because 'ghost' is another word meaning 'soul.' So the damned souls in Hell are all ghosts.

Is Juliette Gordon Low thought to be a ghost?

Juliette Gordon Low was the founder of the Girl Scouts of the USA. She lived between 1860-1927. She was born on Halloween which certainly adds some brews to the pot!

When she died she had an elaborate funeral and was laid out and buried in her Girl Scout uniform. It is not known what, if any her religious affiliation was. There was some controversy about this as GSUSA was and, in some ways is, more (Interfaith) than the Boy Scouts are, the BSA has regularly assigned Chaplains from the major faiths, the female counterpart does not.

Possibly the Girl Scouts themselves have come up with ghost or seance myths-round the camp fire, more wholesome than, say Goatman or run-ins with sasquatch. Good Ghost hunting!

What are the differences between beliefs regarding ghost by catholics and protestants?

Catholic Christians believe in Purgatory, which is the ancient Christian belief that souls who have already been forgiven in life in the Sacrament of Reconciliation may still undergo purgation in the afterlife as a temporal punishment, to purify them from attachments formed to sin in their lifetimes- but after time in Purgatory, these souls always go to Heaven, as Heaven's "antechamber", metaphorically speaking, is Purgatory. During this time, some Catholics believe souls may appear as an apparition on Earth, what we would call a "ghost". However, this is not an explicit teaching of the Catholic Church like Purgatory is. Catholics are free to believe or disbelieve in ghosts roaming the world- but they must believe in Purgatory, as it is a dogma of the faith.

The Protestant sects and denominations do not have official teachings about ghosts, but they do not believe in Purgatory. Therefore, many do not believe in ghosts, and instead believe all souls go straight to Heaven regardless of any attachment to sin formed in this life, if the person was "saved", while "unsaved" go straight to Hell. Therefore, the various beliefs of the Protestant sects do not really hold a place for belief in ghosts.

More information re. Protestant beliefs:

Certain Protestant denominations (and conservative groups within other denominations) view both the Hebrew and the Christian Scriptures as literal truth. These believers look at several texts as indicating that souls of believers go immediately to heaven while those of the lost go immediately to hell. Consequently, when an apparition of any sort is experienced, spirit, ghost, angel or whatever, their only option is to identify that apparition as a demonic deception. To these believers, there is no middle ground between what is absolutely and entirely consistent with their interpretation of Scripture, and that which is entirely of the devil.

At the same time, a great many Protestants have more "liberal" or "progressive" beliefs and do not regard the Scriptures as literal truth in all aspects. These believers do not have definitive guidance or any church doctrine regarding ghosts and other apparitions. They are more likely to be influenced by popular culture or by their own more-or-less informed opinions.

How do you deal with people who don't believe that your abuser abused you?

You don't deal with them. Disbelieving and pathologizing the victim is another form of abusive conduct.

You move on to people who will believe you. Don't try to convince people you were abused, you know what happened to you. I found that the people who associated with my former abusive boyfriend did not believe me. Primarily because abusive people have a way of being charming to the outside world, but to those they "love" they are abusive. Maybe you may want to find a support group in your area to talk about the abuse. God Bless

Stalkers and the Borderline Personality

The Borderline Personality

In recent years psychologists have learned about and done case studies on a new personality disorder which the DSM-III-R classifies as an Axis II disorder- the Borderline Personality . This classification includes such personality disorders as the Anti-social Personality, the Histrionic Personality and the Narcissistic Personality. Several psychologists (including myself) diagonosed my stalker as afflicted with the Borderline Personality. Characteristic of the Borderline (derived from research done by Kreisman & Straus, 1989) are:

a shaky sense of identity

sudden, violent outbursts

oversensitivity to real or imagined rejection

brief, turbulent love affairs

frequent periods of intense depression

eating disorders, drug abuse, and other self-destructive tendencies

an irrational fear of abandonment and an inability to be alone

Not much research has been done on the Borderline Personality, and for many years it was difficult to diagnose- and to treat. A Borderline often feels as though his/her life is marked with a distinctive emptiness; a void in which a relationship often acts to fill. Many times the Borderline is a victim of an early dysfunctional family situation and/or emotional/physical abuse by those he/she trusted early on in childhood.

The Borderline is psychotic , in the original, psychological meaning of the term: he/she is not in control and not in touch with reality. To the Borderline, a softly spoken word of advice can be construed as a threat on his/her emotional stability. An outsider's viewpoint that the Borderline is not in touch with reality often ends in a bitter and irrational dissassociation from the outsider on the part of the Borderline. Often, the Borderline ends up very much alone and victim to his/her disillusions.

The Borderline stalker is very apt to see his/her actions as perfectly justified; he/she has paranoid disillusions which support these-often with disturbing frequency. The Borderline often has brief love affairs which end abruptly, turbulently and leave the Borderline with enhanced feelings of self-hatred, self-doubt and a fear that is not often experienced by rational people. When the Borderline's relationships turn sour, the Borderline often begins to, at first, harass the estranged partner with unnecessary apologies and/or apologetic behavior (i.e. letters of apology 'from the heart', flowers delivered at one's place of employment, early morning weeping phonecalls, etc.). However, the Borderline does not construe his/her behavior as harassment- to the Borderline he/she is being 'responsible' for his/her past behaviors.

The next phase of the Borderline Personality develops relatively quickly and soon he/she feels suddenly betrayed, hurt, etc. and seeks to victimize the estranged partner in any way he/she can Strangely enough, this deleterious behavior is always coupled with a need to be near or in constant contact with the estranged partner . While sending threats to the estranged partner, it is very common for the Borderline to begin to stalk his/her estranged partner in an effort to maintain contact. This effort is motivated by the excruciating fear that the Borderline will end up alone and anger that [the estranged partner] has put him/her in this position. We are finding, in many cases, that a great deal of stalking behavior is associated with Borderline or related personality disorders. Earlier research did not incorporate the Borderline Personality in stalking profiles; research now is beginning to focus on the Borderline in such disorders as Erotomania, etc.

What is the insense called to keep the evil spirits away?

Incense has been used throughout history beginning even before ancient times. Incense to ward off ghosts and evil spirits probably make up a good portion of ritual incenses worldwide.

Traditionally sage, or what is known as a smudge stick, has been used with great success by a multitude of cultures and religions.

- Agrimony Ash sprinkled around is supposed to help.

- Blessed salt sprinkled around is believed to create a protective barrier.

- Cedar Incense

- Rue candles or incense

- An herb called Boneset

- Marjoram herb when sprinkled is believed to chase away spirits.

- The Herb Caraway burned or sprinkled

- Some new age or witchcraft stores often sell various banishing incenses

Keep in mind these herbs and incenses are from a long history of folklore and are only as strong as the faith that goes into them. All incenses, potions, and herbs that claim to chase away spirits often require a ritual or magic circle to be cast. Even the Catholic house blessing is a ritual.

If you have no faith in such folklore then very little if anything will work. I am not an expert in magic, ritual, or anything else that uses these techniques, but for some they have been helpful.

Why do most ghosts in the US appear to be from the Civil War or Victorian era?

Because people who claim to have seen ghosts have a psychological need to dress them up in recognisable period costumes.

Is the Excalibur Nightclub really haunted?

The thing with the nightclub is that its history as a morgue, during the great Chicago fire, leaves a lot of the basis for its paranormal activity. AS for its actually being haunted, lets just say the employees there DO NOT like being alone in the building. In particular, the 3rd floor with the booths are known to have shadow apperations, noises, and unknown movement. The attic in particular and rafter walkways always seem to have odd cold spots, and throughout the clubs, after closing, you can still hear faint voices in the empty club. My sister works there and didn't believe but know won't be there alone at night. The ghost themselves are pretty harmless but like to scare people. From what I hear there is at least a little girl of around 9-10 and a middle aged man from right after the Chicago fire.

Do witches wizards vampires ghosts spirits and aliens really exist or is it just an imagination?

Demons may haunt houses because they have been summoned to the area. I say to take EXTREME caution! Demons do have the ability to harm you if you let them. They could have been summoned by idiot teenagers fooling around or a long time ago by people practicing witch craft.

I believe they can. There is even an instance in the Old Testament (Kings I) in which King Saul speaks with the deceased prophet Samuel. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle also believed that contact with the dead was possible, but his friend Harry Houdini did not.
