A backfire is when the ignition of fuel doesn't take place in the ignition/combustion chamber, it(a backfire) can take place in the intake or exhaust. It can be caused by a fuel to air ratio not being correct, also if the timing of the spark is not just right that could cause it to back fire. It could be running lean with not enough fuel and too much air, or could have too much fuel and not enough air. It could be because the intake valves are not shut when the combustion takes place, therefore the combustion would take place in the wrong spot. The most likely cause are from: 1. Incorrect timing, the timing issue could be caused by bad wiring/ or bad ignition. 2. Incorrect fuel to air ratio, bad fuel filter, low fuel pressure-caused by weak fuel pump. Most cars will have the same reason to backfire, as long as it's an internal combustion engine it shouldn't differ...
How to install a tachometer in a Honda Civic?
I did it in my 1994 DX Hatch by getting the instruments from a model that had a tach. The instrument cluster plugged right in. Now I have a tach along with a new speedo, and combined temp and gas guages. The wiring is already there and it works like a factory install. I think mine came from an EX, intended for an auto trans, but the lights showing the gear (between the temp and gas guages) simply don't come on. I imagine the same would work in any Civic from at least 1989 on, if not all. What year?
How much horsepower does a turbo add?
It depends on the motor and the amount of boost. Normal atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi, so that's the condition your car is running in while naturally aspirated. If you add a turbo that provides 14.7 psi, for example, in theory you have doubled the power output of your engine. That won't actually be the case exactly because of losses to friction, heat etc....
For example.. if your car has 100hp and you add a turbo that provides 14.7 psi of boost, your car will now produce 200hp, theoretically. If your turbo puts out about 7psi (half atmospheric pressure), you will get a gain of hp totaling half of what your engine made normally, 150hp total in this case.

Why is the maintenance required slot in red in your Honda Civic 97 LX?
usually just an oil change light. when you get your oil changed push your key into the little slot right by that light. it should go back to green. it usually goes on around every 3,000 miles, as a reminder for you to change your oil. goodluck!
How to replace third brake light on 2007 honda civic ex?
The third brake light (high mount break light) for the ex series 06-07 civics is actually an LED assembly not a regular bulb. 9 times out of 10 the assembly will not need replaced and you may see on occasion that the light will still work but not consistently. So there is no need to pay the outrageously over priced fee Honda gives you for the break light. The problem is actually a short in the wiring on the PCB board of the assembly. In order to resolve this first tell Honda what a dumb design it is to integrate an LED break light assembly in 8in subwoofer housing. After you do that, locate the wiring harness in the trunk for the third break light and detach it. You will then need to put all the back seats down and remove the rear deck, I found it best to remove the bottom joints first and work my way up then left to right. You will see indents where you will need to push in and up in order to start getting the rear deck to give be careful with this portion as I actually cracked mine slightly since it's just plastic and it's a little tight which requires gentle man handling. If it does crack there it's really not a big deal since once the seats are up as normal you can't see this area. Once you have the deck removed unscrew the black subwoofer
bracket on the bottom of the deck. Then remove the screws that hold the LED assembly in place. You will see the solder joints on the belly of the PCB board. For the most part all that needs to be done is a reflowing
of the old solder. I just added a little extra new solder to get the old solder hot enough to liquefy and then settle. Once the joints are re-soldered
I would suggest adding some electronic silicone to the joints or foam under the PCB board and plastic assembly to provide cushion from the damaging vibrations that this assembly clearly cannot handle. (Maybe even to both) Be sure to plug the assembly directly into the wire harness to make sure it's working properly and jiggle it around. If all is well reassemble, save yourself $180, and go pass inspection. Peace. (YouTube
has some reliable videos in relation to this all too common problem.)
Can a b18c1 fit in a 1996 Honda civic ex?

Can i put a stronger fuse into a slot for a 7.5 fuse that keeps blowing?
"Blowing" Fuses ABSOLUTELY NOT !!!!! Fuses and Circuit Breakers are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] from short circuits and overload conditions which can cause extreme overheating which can result in damage to the conductors, and worse, the possibility of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle. When a fuse, and its replacements, repeatedly blow, is an indication of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit. To install a larger fuse would invite damage to the wiring and an electrical system fire. The proper "fix" is for a qualified technician, who knows what he/she's doing, to: * troubleshoot the circuit, * find and identify the defect, and * make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with the properly sized fuse for the circuit].
Where is the coil and the primary wires for the coil located on 95 Civic DX 2 dr?

Is there a tool that will get a drivers window on a Honda 2000 civic back on track?
IF its anything like my 98 ex, your best option to do it yourself like i did is to first remove the door panel. then remove the screw that keeps the front track in place. After you have this screw removed you will need to get the window as high up as you can without pushing it too hard.
Then put your hand on the track and reach up as far as you can go. Next you need to use a finger to spread the track open where your hand is, and slowly use the window button to move the window down.
As the window gets near where your finger is you need to push the rubber out enough so that the window can slide back into the track. After you get the window on the inside of the rubber up top move it down more and keep sure with your fingers that it stays inside the rubber track until you reach the bottom. Then screw the track back in the opposite of the way you took it out. Notice the hole for the screw is oblong allowing room for adjustment.
You want to adjust it as far towards the back of the car as you can without putting excess pressure on the door and making it harder for the window motor to push it up.
If you have ever had a seat belt that was all twisted the wrong way and you folded the belt in half while pulling it through the upper loop by the roof to get it to flip over to the correct side the concept is pretty similar to what you are doing here. Simply forcing pushing one of the rubber guide edges out forcing the window to go over it and back into track.
It took me a few tries the first time but you will get the hang of it.
Good luck!!!
What is the size of the wiper blades for a 2006 Honda Civic Si?
Si = Coupe
The 2006 Honda Civic Coupe wiper blade sizes are 28" drivers and 25" passenger side wiper blades with fairly specialized attachments. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only. Be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
How is the key-less entry reset?
Owner's manual
AnswerI don't have enough information about your car to tell you how to do it, but here's how they all work:The key fob is a radio transmitter that sends an ID sequence (the serial number of the fob) out when you press the button. Any key fob that works for any car like yours has the potential to be used to unlock your car doors. The question you want answered is "how do I tell my car's computer to respond to the key fob I have?"
Generally the car stops listening to your key fobs if the power is cut to the battery. There's a sequence that you need to follow to tell the car's computer to go into learning mode. Once the computer is ready to learn, you'll need to press any button on each fob that you want your car to listen to. You'll need all of the fobs at once.
The dealer will be happy to do this for you for a fee. I've had pretty good luck searching Google groups for specific information about how to do this. I recommend that you search Google groups for the make, model, year and the keyword RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) or some variation of those.
Good luck!
Replaced Stock stereo in 98 Civic EX now alarmKeyless entry does not work?
Contact crutchfield radio / electronics they will provide you with a free wiring harness when you purchase the radio thru them which will allow you to connect your radio without effecting the cars other electrical systems.
the 1996 to 1998 Honda civic has the keyless entry module built into the factory radio, you will have to wire the factory radio in-line with your aftermarket radio, most people then hide the factory radio under the center console. your other options would be to go without keyless entry or install an aftermarket unit.
